Derek appeals: Don't judge Cristine

MANILA – Derek Ramsay did not hesitate to defend his former girlfriend, Cristine Reyes, against those who are linking the actress to various men following their breakup. Speaking to “Buzz ng Bayan,” Ramsay said it is unfair that Reyes is being depicted as that kind of girl. “It’s not fair for Cristine that she’s getting all this negative stuff. Cristine is not that type of girl. I would know because I’m her best friend. Hindi siya ganoon so sana matigilan na 'yung mga paninira, mga rumors na nakakasakit sa kanya, sa akin,” he said. While they have decided to end their month-long relationship, Ramsay said he still cares for Reyes because she remains his best friend. At the same time, Ramsay denied that they got back together after their series of shows in Hawaii. “Everyone says we were there for vacation and that we got back together. Cristine and I were there for work. We were in Hawaii. We were mature enough to let our friendship take over and that’s where we stand right now,” he said. Ramsay and Reyes became close friends after working together in the 2011 movie “No Other Woman,” which also starred Anne Curtis. It was in August 28 when they officially became a couple but they took everyone by surprise when they confirmed their breakup on October 7. Despite this, the two reportedly maintain a good relationship.

Derek denies rekindling romance with Cristine in Hawaii

MANILA – Actor Derek Ramsay denied rumors that he and actress Cristine Reyes have rekindled their romance after they spent time together in Hawaii for a series of shows. In an interview with the entertainment website Pep.ph, Ramsay said it is not true that they have gotten back together, adding that he believes that they are better off as friends. “No, it’s not true. We’re friends, we're better off that way. Nakita ko nga sa Instagram na parang sinasabing boses ni Derek 'yun... hindi ako yun,” he said. Despite their breakup, Ramsay said she and Reyes have managed to go back to how they used to be when they were just close friends. “Yeah, we were like what we used to be. Kaibigan niya rin 'yung best friend ko from Australia. Parang nagsama kami, apat kami noon. 'Yung ex-boss ng best friend ko was with us. And there were few days na we did something together,” he explained. While they stayed in the same hotel in Hawaii, Ramsay clarified that they weren’t together the entire time. “Cristine and I, we’re in the same hotel, we were able to talk, so wala kaming problema. But she moved to… she had a show pa in the States, mainland. She went off to the mainland. Ako, bumalik na ako dito,” he said. Ramsay added: “There, she had her own thing, her own itinerary. Pero there was one time na we did all go out, and we had a lot of fun. Clean fun.” By Ramsay's admission, he and Reyes became a couple last August 28, after being close friends since 2011 when they co-starred in the romance-drama film "No Other Woman." It was on October 7 when Ramsay admitted that his one-month romance with the actress was the “shortest longest relationship” he ever had. “Shortest [because] it’s a month. Longest, because I have a friend for life. And I’m gonna be her friend for life,” he said in a report published on philstar.com. While he refused to give details about his breakup with Reyes, Ramsay said, “It’s just a decision that was made.”

Ynna Asistio tagged in Derek-Cristine split

MANILA -- Ynna Asistio denied causing the breakup of celebrity couple Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes, amid rumors of the actor's supposed intentions to woo her. "Gusto ko lang i-clear -- si Derek at si Cristine, matagal ko nang kaibigan. Gusto ko lang i-clear sa lahat na never akong niligawan ni Derek. Magkaibigan kami," the 22-year-old Asistio told ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual on Tuesday. Reports of Ramsay and Reyes' supposed separation surfaced early this week, after both TV stars changed their Instagram usernames from "kingderekramsay" to "kidlatramsay11," and "QueenCKRamsay" to "AwesomeQueenCK," respectively. Their original usernames referred to their being a couple. By Ramsay's admission, he and Reyes became a couple last August 28, after being close friends since 2011 when they co-starred in the romance-drama film "No Other Woman." Ramsay and Reyes have yet to confirm the break-up. Recalling hearing of the news, Asistio said, "Isa rin ako sa mga nag-wish na maging okay silang dalawa, dahil best friends talaga sila. Alam ko 'yon. So sana, tama na, tigilan nalang po, ayoko nalang po talaga madamay diyan." Asistio, who is a long-time friend of Reyes, said she only met Ramsay recently. While she admitted that she got together with the actor a number of times, Asistio emphasized they were always part of a group. "Matagal na kaming magkakilala ni AA (Reyes' nickname), at saka sobrang close kami, at alam ni AA 'yon. Nagkaka-usap kami 'til now. So sana po hindi na lang ako isama, kasi problema po nila 'yon," she said. Referring to Ramsay's rumored visit to her place, Asistio said, "Nagkaroon ng time na gano'n. Nung nagkakilala kami, group of friends naman kami, hindi naman po kaming dalawa lang or ano. So 'yun lang din. Talagang nagkaroon ng time na talagang nagkakasama kami." Focusing on career Bringing up her recent breakup with actor Mark Herras, which she confirmed in July this year, Asistio continued, "Ayoko pong pumasok pa ulit sa relasyon." The 22-year-old actress also expressed concern that rumors tagging her in the separation might negatively affect her career as a Kapamilya. Asistio, a former GMA-7 actress, transferred to ABS-CBN early this year and is now one of the artists of the Kapamilya talent management firm Star Magic. "Ang importante lang sa akin ngayon... kumbaga gusto ko lang alagaan 'yung binibigay sa akin ng ABS. So sana huwag nalang po ako idamay. Gusto ko lang i-clear na never po nanligaw si Derek, para matapos na po," she said. "Ayoko pong sayangan 'yung opportunity na 'to kasi minsan lang po magkaroon ng ganitong opportunity, so gusto ko po talaga alagaan," she added.

After one month, Derek, Cristine break up?

MANILA – Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes are both mum on rumors that they have already called it quits after just a little over a month into their relationship. Speculations about the breakup began circulating online after Ramsay changed his Instagram username from “kingderekramsay” to “kidlatramsay11.” Meanwhile, from the username @QueenCKRamsay, Reyes is now using the Twitter name @AwesomeQueenCk. While Ramsay has now kept his image-sharing account private, Reyes, for her part, has not posted any picture with the actor in the past few days. Reyes and Ramsay became a couple last August 28. Prior to their relationship, the two first were tapped to play a married couple in the romance-drama film "No Other Woman" in 2011. At the time, Reyes and Ramsay were still with their respective partners. It was only only in January 2013 that Reyes and actor-dancer Rayver Cruz made a televised announcement of their separation, which happened the previous year. Ramsay and actress Angelica Panganiban, on the other hand, broke up in February 2012. Since Reyes' separation from Cruz, the actress and Ramsay have been romantically linked. While the two admitted that they frequently go out, they maintained they were only friends. The two said becoming a couple came unexpectedly for them as they had intended to be only good friends.

Derek reacts to Cristine-Rayver 'sex video'

MANILA -- Actor Derek Ramsay shrugged off reports of a supposed sex video featuring his current girlfriend Cristine Reyes and her former boyfriend actor Rayver Cruz. A text message has been circulating that supposedly provides a link to the alleged sex video. The text says: "Scandal ni Rayver at Christine nasa (link to website) haha it's so hot!" Cruz has already reacted to the blast text, saying he feels he and Reyes are being used to spread a computer virus, noting the link attached in the message. "I got the text too. I just laughed about it. I didn't bother opening it. It is a blast text, I didn't bother," Ramsay said in an interview on Thursday at a press conference for Dunkin' Donuts, which he is endorsing. Ramsay also said there's is no need for him to talk to Reyes about it. "I didn't mention it to her. I know what it is. My friends also got the text," he added. Ramsay stressed that this particular issue will not affect their relationship. "Even if there is (video), it doesn't matter because past is past. That doesn't matter to me," he said. Cruz has categorically denied the existence of any sex video showing him and Reyes. "Wala talaga. Syempre, ano, huwag naman gano'n," he said. Derek: I must have been in love all this time

MANILA – Derek Ramsay admitted that he must have been “blindly in love” with Cristine Reyes even before they officially became a couple last week. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Sunday, Ramsay said everything that happened between them were totally unexpected as they were just really close friends. “I must have been [in love with her all this time]. I’m being completely honest when I looked at Cristine as my friend, but analyzing this whole thing, it’s kind of hard not to entertain the fact that I must have been blindly in love with her,” he said. “I love her dearly as a friend but there must have been something more. The great thing about our relationship is we didn’t do the whole ‘best foot forward’ because may intentions ka para ligawan kasi hindi ko naman siya niligawan. Same thing with her, so pinakita lang talaga naming kung sino lang talaga kami,” he explained. Ramsay said he did not really eat his words when he said that he won’t date another girl from showbiz because he knows Reyes as a real person. “It’s so awkward. I ate my words. I’ve said many times na I will never date Cristine and more so I would never date anyone in showbiz. But for me, AA (Reyes's nickname) is not showbiz because she’s one of my friends. She’s a real friend, one of the boys,” he said. Asked how different their relationship is now, Ramsay said: “We are just as crazy as we were then now. I’m really enjoying it, I’m really happy. She’s the person I run to when I have problems. She knows all the stuff about me.” On Rayver Meanwhile, Ramsay said it made him happy when he learned that Reyes’ former boyfriend, actor Rayver Cruz, is totally okay with their relationship. “Rayver is my friend. We saw each other on the court. I was really happy when somebody mentioned that to me earlier today. Rayver has been to my house many times even when they were together,” he said. Ramsay said Cruz even went up to him to shake his hand after their basketball game for the Hero Foundation. “I think it was really awesome for Rayver to come up and shake my hand. I didn’t really see that I needed to explain or talk to Rayver,” he said. Despite this, Ramsay said he gets upset when people tag him as the reason why Cruz and Reyes broke up. “No, that’s not true, Rayver knows that. We all know that. It’s been a while since the breakup. I’ve been a friend to Rayver, more like an older brother,” he said. Reyes and Ramsay officially became a couple last August 28

How Derek and Cristine became a couple

MANILA – For the first time, actress Cristine Reyes openly spoke about her relationship with actor Derek Ramsay, which only became official last August 28. At the sidelines of the Hero Ko charity basketball game on Sunday, Reyes related to ABS-CBN News how her friendship with Ramsay evolved into something special. Reyes said the awkwardness began after she and Ramsay went out several times together to shop for groceries. “Kinausap niya ako. Sabi niya, ‘Ano ito? What’s happening?’ Sabi ko, ‘I don’t know, I’m just waiting for you to ask me kung ano ang nangyayari kasi parang hindi na normal na ginagawa ito ng magkaibigan,'’’ Reyes said. The actress said she did not expect Ramsay’s reply. “Kinilig ako. He said na he’s in love daw with me. He just didn’t know for two years. I think I feel the same way. Hindi rin ako aware na may ganung feeling. Hindi naman namin ina-assume, basta sobra lang ang pag-aalaga namin sa isa’t isa pero ang tingin namin magkaibigan lang,” she said. Reyes said she was at a loss for words at that exact moment because she thought such things only happen in movies. “Hindi ako makasalita kais parang hindi ko ma-imagine na umaamin siya sa akin ng ganun kasi magkaibigan kami. Lagi ko siyang inaasar, kinukulit. Ganun din siya sa akin. Tatawagan niya ako kung gusto niya lang mambwisit tapos all of a sudden, [sasabihin niya] I’m in love?” she said. Up to now, Reyes admitted that she still feels awkward whenever she and Ramsay would hold hands. “Kaming dalawa naman aminado kami sa isa’t isa na dalawang taon kaming magkaibigan and alam namin talagang genuine 'yung friendship namin. Nandiyan siya, I have his back. Nandiyan din ako. It’s really, really awkward in a good way. Hindi naming in-expect pero ramdam naming masaya kami,” she said. Just like Ramsay, Reyes said she ate her words when she entered into a relationship with the actor because she had said she wants to focus on her career first. Mom’s, Rayver’s approval Meanwhile, Reyes said she feels relieved that her mother and former boyfriend Rayver Cruz are both happy for her new relationship. “Aware naman si Rayver na talagang aalagaan ako ni Derek. Kaibigan namin si Derek, dumadalaw kami before sa bahay nila. Walang ilangan,” she said. She added: “Two nights ago, nag-dinner kami ng sister ko. Sumunod si Rayver doon so napag-usapan namin the whole thing. Which is good kasi sobrang healthy [ng relationship namin] ni Rayver. Kung ano ang relasyon namin, walang nagbago. It’s just that hindi na kami.” As for her mom, Reyes said it is very important for her that she has her mom’s blessings with regard to her relationship. “Natutuwa ako kasi 'yung mommy ko, masaya para sa akin. Ito ang kauna-unahang relasyon na parang lahat ng tao positive, lahat happy. Ito 'yung first time na parang lahat kino-congratulate ako. Masaya,” she said. Asked how serious she is in this relationship, Reyes said: “Hindi ako pumapasok sa isang relasyon na walang patutunguhan. Gusto ko pag pumasok ako sa relasyon na iyon, iniisip ko na 'yung future ko with sa taong iyon. Hindi ako papasok sa isang relasyon kasi gusto ko lang magkaroon ng boyfriend.” Reyes said it is an important factor that they have a “genuine friendship” which provides a strong foundation for their relationship.

Derek says relationship with Cristine 'forever'

MANILA – New celebrity couple Cristine Reyes and Derek Ramsay have become more open about their relationship following the actor’s admission late last week. Derek: I have a non-showbiz girlfriend

Former Kapamilya actor Derek Ramsay MANILA – More than a year after breaking up with actress Angelica Panganiban, actor Derek Ramsay revealed he has found love again. In an interview with entertainment columnist Ricky Lo as published in The Philippine Star on Monday, Ramsay admitted that he is currently in a relationship but refused to divulge her identity. “I have a girlfriend but she’s not from showbiz. I guess I have learned my lesson,” he said. Ramsay reportedly told Lo that he does not want to have another relationship with anyone from show business ever again. “It’s magulo,” he explained. Ramsay and Panganiban decided to end their relationship in March 2012 -- two months before he confirmed it on the microblogging site Twitter. “I think it was the right decision to make so that it wouldn’t end up horrible and an ugly mess of a breakup. So, I think we handled it well,” he said at the time. Ramsay insisted that there was no third party in their separation. According to the former Kapamilya actor, he and Panganiban broke up a month before Panganiban and actor John Lloyd Cruz flew to Vietnam to shoot their scenes for the upcoming Star Magic movie "24/7 in Love." Panganiban has been with Cruz since July 2012. Meanwhile, Ramsay’s recent admission about his new love also put an end to speculations linking him to several actresses including Nadine Samonte and Cristine Reyes. Ramsay has repeatedly maintained that he is only friends with the two actresses, adding that they are just “barkadas” since they have all worked together.

Did Derek Ramsay call Sam Milby gay?

Actor Sam Milby. File photo MANILA – Actor Sam Milby said Derek Ramsay has phoned him to deny reports he called the Kapamilya hearthrob "gay." In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday, Milby said he has known Ramsay for a long time and he knows the actor would never make a slur like that. “Siya ang tumawag sa akin. When he was explaining to me, natuwa ako kasi I know he wouldn’t say anything like that. Derek, I’ve known him for a long time. He knows me, he knows what I am, he knows what I’m not so I know he wouldn’t say anything like that,” he said. While dismissing the report as a non-issue, Milby said he nonetheless appreciates the fact that Ramsay immediately called him to clear the matter. “Even if he didn’t call me and I heard about it first, I wouldn’t have believed na he will say something like that. I know Derek. I know Derek is one of those guys who will be there for me. He’s a good friend,” he said. Asked where he thinks the reports came from, Milby said: “I have no idea. I can’t think of anybody who can say that. Ganun talaga sa showbiz. You have issues that come out. Some of these you just have to laugh at kasi ganun talaga sa showbiz.” Milby had just arrived in the Philippines on Wednesday after attending the premiere of his movie “Death March” at the Cannes International Film Festival in France. Reports about Ramsay's alleged gay slur surfaced over the weekend and became a topic on the radio show, "Mismo," hosted by Jobert Sucaldito and Ahwel Paz on DZMM. According to Sucaldito, a source told him that Ramsay was trying to impress a young actress-singer. When he found out that the girl is close to Milby, Ramsay reportedly asked the girl, "Why Sam? He is gay." Sucaldito said Ramsay personally texted him to deny the story.

Derek still has no time for love

After rumors that he and Cristine Reyes are dating, Derek Ramsay is now being linked to Cristalle Henares, daughter of celebrity doctor Vicki Belo. But the Kapatid actor is quick to deny that he has “intimate feelings” for Cristalle—or for anyone. “Wala muna akong oras para sa love life,” Derek told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! and other members of the press during the MVP Group of Companies’ outreach program at the Kasiglahan Village Elementary School in Montalban, Rizal on Thursday, March 14.

The “Kidlat” star doesn’t want to say he’s getting used to being linked to various women, although Derek is aware it’s part of his job description as an actor.

“It’s weird, I’m being linked to all these beautiful women. And ano ba ang nagawa ko to be linked to all these beautiful women?” he quipped. Derek added: “But I don’t think it’s something to get used to. Ako nga, gusto kong mag-apologize, especially doon sa di ko kilala, na nadadamay pa ang pangalan nila.” ‘Best time of my career’ What’s keeping the Kapatid star busy? There’s “Kidlat,” the TV5’s superhero fantasy series that has earned unprecedented following, specifically among pre-teens. It’s a different territory for Derek, who played the token hunk in most of his major TV projects prior to his move to TV5. “I’m thankful. Another blessing was given to me. You know, ang daming nagsabi na laos na ako and all that, my career has gone done,” he said. “But I think this is the best time of my career.” Derek tries not to look too far ahead in his career, although his next project with TV5 might be another reality show. He’s also looking forward to a movie this year. “I want to go back to doing movies this year. But I don’t want to be selfish.

Derek romances 3 pretty ladies in Kidlat

MANILA, Philippines - Derek Ramsay has a lot to smile about these days. Kidlat, his first soap for TV5, is rating consistently well and continues to receive positive feedback from the audience. He even won an online poll naming him as the country’s favorite superhero. Adulations aside, perhaps the biggest perk of being the superhero ng bayan is getting the chance to be paired with a gorgeous leading lady or in Derek’s case, three alluring female counterparts. In the show’s recent press conference held at Plaza Ibarra in Quezon City, TV5 introduced the three stunning ladies who will stir some excitement into Kidlat’s life. Kidlat’s leading ladies (from left) Ritz Azul, Nadine Samonte and Valerie Weigmann Right from the start, Nadine Samonte (as the beautiful and intelligent Lara) has been the object of Kidlat’s affection. Fans of the show adored the palpable chemistry between Nadine and Derek that many of them lamented Lara’s shocking death. But viewers need not worry as Lara may not be as dead as they initially thought.
