Robin Padilla has no plans to enter politics

110513-Robin_Main.jpg

Robin Padilla is calling for peace and unity especially in the areas of Zamboanga where armed conflict has pretty much destroyed the lives of many people. He stressed that religion is not the main reason of the major conflicts in some parts of Mindanao, but politics is causing the chaos in the area. Kalimutan natin ang politika parang awa niyo na,” he said. With Robin being so vocal on the relevant issues of the society, is this a sign of an impending political career?

110213-robin_main.jpg

Robin Padilla revealed that he is set to star in an action movie with BB Gandanghari which will have gay rights as its central theme. Action ‘to, UFC fighter si BB dito kaya ko nga siya inag-training, nag-aerial jiu jitsu na siya,” Robin relayed during his presscon for Talk N’ Text in Makati recently. The former Toda Max star is producing the film with spouse Mariel Rodriguez. “Una producer [ako] at co-producer ‘yung aking si Mariel. So ‘yun, you have to watch the movie.” All is well now between Robin and BB. This was confirmed by the bad boy of Philippine cinema himself who confessed that his young son, Ali Padilla, has helped him change his views in life. Robin confirmed that BB is now in good health. “Spectacular [‘yung health niya]. Sumasabit nga ‘yun 8 feet above the ground. When describing his current relationship with his brother, Robin shared, “Bago eh, nakikita nga ni Mariel. Robin remarked that it all boils down to respect at the end of the day.

Robin Padilla visits Zamboanga evacuees

ZAMBOANGA -- Actor Robin Padilla visited Zamboanga City over the weekend to check on the status of the evacuees at the grandstand, most of whom are Muslims. Padilla said he is saddened to see the state of the victims displaced by the conflict between government troops and members of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF). He also said no one, neither the government nor the victims, should be accustomed with the present situation. "Dapat nasa rehabilitation stage na tayo," Padilla said in an exclusive interview. "Dapat tapos na tayo sa relief." Padilla was also briefed by cause-oriented groups led by the Baugbug Human Rights Center on the crimes involving the evacuees such as abuses, trafficking and others. The actor also called on the Muslim and Christian communities not to plant anger in their hearts, following the displacement of thousands and the destruction of their houses during the firefight. Padilla is said to have a strong following in the Muslim community since he reverted to the Islamic faith.

Vhong Navarro addresses rumors about Robin Padilla’s departure from ‘Toda Max’

101213-vhong_main.jpg

A good half a year since Robin Padilla left their show, Toda Max star Vhong Navarro admitted he still feels regretful that his “idol,” with whom he started the show with, is uncertain about returning to their show. Attesting to the previous reason why Robin left their almost two-year-old Kapamilya sitcom, Vhong, via a recent set visit, revealed to the press what they were told about Robin’s departure. “Ang huling nasabi samin, magco-concentrate muna siya sa drama at movies, pahinga muna siya sa comedy,” he shared of the actor. However, Vhong said he understands the fact that the famed action star would have to prioritize his movie commitments, some of which he produced himself like the biopic “10,000 Hours” which was based on Senator Panfilo Lacson’s life. Despite Robin’s earlier revelation as to the true reason why he left, rumors still persisted that conflicts within the Toda Max set is what reportedly strengthened his resolve. Among them was the fact that Vhong is reportedly getting a higher purse than Robin, something which the It’s Showtime host fervently denied. “Kayo ba naniwala kayo don? Pinapamigay pa nga niya ‘yung pera niya eh,” Vhong said. Then there’s the issue that Robin, who was now replaced on the show by comedy concert queen Ai-Ai de las Alas, was reportedly given less priority on the show as proven by the inability of the crew to find a suitable love team for him. As proof that there’s no bad blood between them, Vhong shared that he and Robin were actually able to maintain their communication online via Instagram. Meanwhile, notwithstanding the cast changes and controversies off late, Vhong said he is very thrilled that their show is turning two years old this coming November. Kumbaga experiment. Ang nakakatuwa kasi ‘yung mga manonood, ‘yung mga tumangkilik eh sinuportahan kami until now na sana kahit may nawala na mga characters, kahit may mga pumasok na bagong characters eh andyan parin sila,” he related fondly and added that he hopes Toda Max will air for more years. Asked what Toda Max’s edge was, Vhong proudly replied, “Well nakakatuwa kasi meron tayong nakakagulat na si Ms. Angel (Locsin) eh nakakatuwa kasi first-time niyang nag-comedy eh.

Robin Padilla denies personal vendetta vs Drilo

MANILA – Action star Robin Padilla on Wednesday said he is not out for revenge when he called for Senate President Franklin Drilon's resignation due to a brewing controversy over the Disbursement Acceleration Program (DAP). In an interview with Anthony Taberna on “Umagang Kay Ganda”, Padilla admitted that it was Drilon who put him in jail for gun possession in 1995. Drilon, at that time, was Secretary of Justice under President Ramos. In the interview, Padilla said there was nothing personal about his call for Drilon's resignation. He said the Senate President should have "delicadeza" and set an example after Malacañang admitted that several senators got DAP releases after the conviction of Chief Justice Renato Corona. The action star said he will not let his friends in the Senate take the fall for the controversy over the misuse of the priority development assistance funds. At least three senators - Bong Revilla, Jinggoy Estrada and Juan Ponce Enrile - are facing plunder, graft and malversation charges for allegedly funneling their PDAF to bogus non-government organizations. Wala naman ng tiwala ang taumbayan,” he said. Asked if he has any friends in the Senate, Padilla said: “Malapit na ang 2016. Sen. Jinggoy Estrada was the first to reveal the DAP releases after the Corona trial, saying that the funds were over and above the regular priority development assistance fund (PDAF) allocations given to senators. Drilon admitted that he received P100 million in DAP funds but denied that these were bribes from Malacañang to convict Corona. “It’s not like I pocketed P100 million in kickbacks. The DAP allocation is not cold cash and but was merely a list of infrastructure projects recommended by legislators and local government officials to be implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways.” “We were only asked to list down a number of projects which were immediately implementable at that time in order to accelerate government spending and boost the economy,” he said. Padilla then urged the Filipino people to remain vigilant and guard how the people who they elected are using the public’s money. Huwag tayo malugmok. Kailangan tayong magkaintindihan at kailangang may mangyaring pagbabago. Kapag lumagpas po ito, mangingibangbayan na lang ako dahil masyado ng masakit,” he said.

Robin watches BB Gandanghari's show

MANILA – Actor Robin Padilla threw his full support for BB Gandanghari as he watched his brother’s show “Beauty and the Sweet” at the Music Museum on Saturday. According to posts of Padilla’s wife, Mariel Rodriguez, in the image-sharing site Instagram, the action star even went up onstage after the show to congratulate his brother. “This is one of my favorite moments of the night... when @robinhoodpadilla went up on stage and congratulated BB and Sweet!!!” she said. Photo taken from Mariel Rodriguez's Instagram account Gandanghari, for his part, was obviously elated as seen in his post before the show. “Aerial art dance... BB. and her hammock, tonight at music museum, fun starts at 8! Lil bro @robinhoodpadilla is watching later.... Yahoo!!!” he said. Photo taken from BB Gandanghari's Instagram account Padilla and Gandanghari had a distant relationship in the past because Padilla could not acknowledge that his brother Rustom is now “dead.” Gandanghari publicly admitted his sexual preference in 2006 on the reality TV series "Pinoy Big Brother" before he left for the United States. The actor then returned to the Philippines as Gandanghari. But when Gandanghari was hospitalized due to a severe infection last month, the brothers eventually reconciled.

BB, Robin, Mariel have dinner together

MANILA – It seems that things are going smoothly again between celebrity siblings Robin Padilla and BB Gandanghari following their reconciliation last week. Gandanghari posted a photo of him having dinner with with Robin, their mom and Robin’s wife Mariel Rodriguez, on his personal Instagram account on Sunday after his live guesting on “The Buzz.” “Healthiest meal ever... courtesy of my little bro. Hihi thanks for dinner..., sa uulitin...Chos,” Gandanghari wrote in the caption. Rodriguez also posted her version of the picture, describing the small get-together as a “milestone.” “One of the most memorable dinners of my life,” she said. The Padilla siblings were estranged for quite a while because the action star could not accept Gandanghari’s sexual orientation. It was only when Gandanghari was hospitalized last week when they renewed their ties as siblings. Gandanghari said he does not regret getting ill as it paved the way for the brothers to patch things up, adding that it was Padilla who first visited him at the hospital among his siblings. He said it also made him feel better since, for the first time, Padilla addressed him as "BB," which he considers a turning point in their relationship.

BB Gandanghari details reconciliation with Robin

MANILA, Philippines -- BB Gandanghari, formerly known as Rustom Padilla, expressed his happiness over his recent reconciliation with his brother, Robin Padilla. In an interview with The Philippine Star newspaper published on Friday, Gandanghari said Robin's acceptance helped him recover after being hospitalized for five days. He said it was their mother, Eva Cariño, who called all his siblings to visit him at the hospital. The next day, Gandanghari woke up seeing Robin at his side. The action star even told his son, Ali: "Mula ngayon, Aunt BB na ang itawag mo sa kanya, ha!" Reacting to Robin's acceptance, Gandanghari said: "Parang bigla akong gumaling, knowing that Robin has finally accepted me." Gandanghari suffered from "an acute case of urinary tract infection that led to severe dehydration that almost destroyed her kidney and bladder," according to The Philippine Star. “My white blood cells were more than 20,000, way above the maximum normal and my vital organs were almost collapsing. Kung na-delay pa raw ang pagdala sa akin sa ospital, I would have been a goner by now," he said. Gandanghari admitted that his condition worsened when he got depressed because of Robin's refusal to accept his sexuality. “I kept on making my mom kulit to act as bridge between Robin and me. Kasi naman, all the other members of my family have accepted me for what I have become at si Robin lang ang hindi makatanggap. It stayed at the back of my mind, in my subconscious. Magkasunod kami ni Robin and he was the one I would run to when I had problems, so even if my family was okey na with me, I felt sad that Robin was in denial. "I got sick na before but when I got well, but after only a few days I returned to my old ways (not taking enough water) so n’ung nag-relapse, matindi na talaga. My depression worsened my condition," he added.

How Robin Padilla reconciled with BB

MANILA, Philippines – After finding out that her son was in the hospital, Eva Cariño saw the opportunity to heal a family rift triggered by Rustom Padilla’s decision to become BB Gandanghari. “Isang araw last week, tumawag siya sa akin,” Cariño said, referring to Gandanghari. “Sabi niya, ‘Mama, may sakit ako.’ After taking Gandanghari to the hospital, she then called Robin and the rest of his siblings to visit him. “Tinawagan ko ang mga kapatid niya. Sina Robin, sina Rommel, sina Royett…lahat. Dumating, kumpleto,” she said. Sister!’ Ibig sabihin, tanggap na siya as BB. Hanggang sa araw-araw naming dinalaw,” Cariño said in an exclusive interview with "The Buzz" that aired on Sunday. Very sick When Cariño went to Gandanghari’s condo unit, she said she was surprised by how sick Gandanghari looked. She added that Gandanghari probably waited for several days, and only called her when he was too weak to move on his own and felt as if he was on the brink of death. Gandanghari was rushed to the hospital, and doctors said he suffered from extreme dehydration resulting in infections. Cariño said Gandanghari’s illness had a lot to do with the healing of his rift with his siblings. Iba-iba ang opinion,” she added. As a mother, she said while she had difficulty accepting her son’s sexual preference, she could not deny her child her love. “Ako naman, anak ko iyon, e. Hindi naman pwedeng itapon. Anak is anak. Wala. Iyon ang gusto niya, iyon ang nafe-feel niya. Sige na lang,” she said. ‘Tita BB’ His siblings’ visit to the hospital also led Gandanghari to form a closer bond with his nephew, Robin’s son Ali, Cariño said. Robin posted a photo on Instagram of his son boxing with Gandanghari, who was still in his hospital bed. In his post, he referred to Gandanghari as his “sister” for the first time in public. “Ano na [kayong magkakapatid], five girls, three boys.” She added that she is now very happy that her children are friends again. Ngayon, masayang-masaya na ako," she said. Gandanghari was released from the hospital on Thursday, but is under doctor's orders to observe strict bed rest. He recently posted a photo of his family on Twitter, with the caption “A family love that heals… #feelingbetter”. Carino said Gandanghari should take care of himself so he will get well. Robin, meanwhile, declined to further comment on the issue.

Robin Padilla: No gay kiss on TV, please

MANILA, Philippines -- Although Robin Padilla acknowledges gay and lesbian relationships as a "reality" in the Philippines, the action star would rather same-sex intimacy be kept off national television. The 42-year-old actor, who has been identified with a macho image since entering showbiz in the '80s, expressed disapproval of airing any "kissing scene" between individuals of the same sex on TV. Referring to local shows depicting gay relationships, Padilla on Thursday said, "Huwag lang sana maghalikan sa telebsiyon naman at telebsiyon na 'yon. Padilla, whose brother Rustom is transgender BB Gandanghari, was quick to clarify that he welcomes the advancement of gay rights. The actor is referring to the recent landmark ruling of the US Supreme Court on laws related to same-sex marriage. The high court on Wednesday nullified the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), which deprives federal benefits to same-sex couples. It also ruled against Proposition 8, which clears the way for same-sex marriages to resume in California. Asked for his thoughts on the Philippines following suit, Padilla noted the popularity of gay showbiz personalities such as Vice Ganda, and the significant contribution of gays and lesbians to the industry. On whether he welcomes the possibility of recognizing same-sex marriage in the Philippines, Padilla only said, "Ayoko na mag-komento diyan."

Robin excited to film MMFF entry '10,000 Hours'

MANILA, Philippines – Action star Robin Padilla feels honored that his movie, “10,000 Hours,” was chosen to be an entry to this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. In the said movie, Padilla will be portraying the role of a politician who went into hiding for months to evade the accusations made against him. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Padilla explained how elated he is to headline an action movie anew. “Sampung libong oras akong nagtago. According to the 43-year-old actor, this movie will also be a reunion project of sorts with director Joyce Bernal. “May lihim na pag-ibig sa isa’t isa ni Bb. Joyce. Meanwhile, the actor denied that he chose this movie over another project titled “Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at Mga Anak,” which will be produced by his own brother, Rommel. "Sa Ngalan ng Ama, Ina at Mga Anak" was among the film submissions that failed to earn a slot as an official entry to the 39th MMFF. “Hindi [koi to mas pinili].

Angel Locsin misses Robin on 'Toda Max'

MANILA – Angel Locsin finally broke her silence over the long absence of actor Robin Padilla in their ABS-CBN sitcom “Toda Max.” Without providing details, Locsin said she and the rest of the cast of the weekly comedy show miss working with Padilla but added that they respect the actor’s decision. Nami-miss namin siya,” she said. If she given the chance, Locsin said she would definitely work with Padilla in another project again. “Kung makakasama ko siya ulit, masaya iyon. Marami akong natutunan sa kanya. Siya nga 'yung isa sa mga dahilan kung bakit ako nag ‘Toda Max,’” she said. New movie Meanwhile, aside from “Toda Max,” Locsin is also busy with her upcoming Star Cinema movie “Four Sisters and a Wedding” with Bea Alonzo, Toni Gonzaga, Shaina Magdayao and Enchong Dee. In the first trailer for the film released last week, sisters Teddie (Gonzaga), Bobbie (Alonzo), Alex (Locsin) and Gabbie (Magdayao) are shown gathering at home for their youngest sibling's (Enchong Dee) wedding. However, the four sisters, who dislike the bride's family, conspire to block the wedding. As they scheme to "save" their only brother, the siblings are also forced to face the problems in their family. According to Locsin, she feels honored to be part of this movie with ABS-CBN’s biggest stars. “First time ko makatrabaho na maraming artisa at ang bait nila at walang comepetition sa set,” she said. “Four Sisters and a Wedding” will kick off the 20th anniversary celebration of ABS-CBN's film production outfit when it releases in theaters nationwide on June 26.

Anne Curtis Said "No" To Love Scene with Robin Padilla

MANILA, Philippines -- Following the reported squabble between married couple Mariel Rodriguez and Robin Padilla, a love scene between the action star and Anne Curtis for their primetime series is no longer likely to happen.

At the sidelines of a press conference held Tuesday night for the launch of her latest endorsement, Curtis expressed her hesitation to do a "love scene" with Padilla in "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw."

This comes after the actor's intimate scenes with Kris Aquino, his other leading lady in the ABS-CBN series, had Rodriguez removing her wedding ring admittedly out of jealousy.
"If ever... anything, knowing how Mariel feels about of course her husband, I understand that and I'd rather not go to that extent to upset her. So siyempre as a woman I give respect to that. I'd rather not na lang," Curtis said.

Early this month, Padilla admitted on live television that his wife of three years had given back her wedding ring supposedly after watching his scenes with Aquino. In one episode of "Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw," Bogs (Padilla) and Roxanne (Aquino) are seen exchanging vows, before going on a honeymoon trip to Boracay.

Below is the controversial love scene.
