MANILA - Actor Luis Manzano has confirmed that he and actress Jennylyn Mercado have ended their relationship. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday night, Manzano said he and Mercado had an amicable split. Manzano also stressed that there is no third party involved in the breakup. "To some degree, I'm speaking on Jen's behalf already, sa lahat ng naglalabasang isyu, sa lahat ng mga pangalang lumalabas, Jen and I know the truth kung bakit kami nagkahiwalay," Manzano said. "Ako nao-offend ako kasi ang daming nali-link sa akin, hinihintay ko lang sana na malink sa akin si Kate Beckinsale. Please naman, pang-Hollywood itong mukha ko," Manzano joked. Manzano is set to go home to Batangas this weekend to be with his mother, Governor Vilma Santos.

MANILA (2nd UPDATE) -- It's over. Luis Manzano and Jennylyn Mercado have ended their two-year relationship, the actor-host confirmed Friday. The Philippine Star entertainment editor Ricky Lo in his column on Friday said there was no no third party involved in the breakup, and the two simply "fell out of love." "The crack in the romance surfaced when, according to a travel agent, Luis has his round-trip ticket drastically changed to solo (minus Jennylyn, that is)," Lo said. Sought for comment on the report, Manzano, in a text message to ABS-CBN News on Friday afternoon, confirmed the separation. He appealed, however, to be given privacy as to the reason of the break-up. This was the same message Manzano gave to "KrisTV" head writer, Darla Sauler. In his blog, Sauler quoted Manzano as saying, "We want to keep things private na lang." Just last week, Manzano denied that he and Mercado have already called it quits -- as reported by Sauler in his blog on October 9 -- saying the rumor, which began as a blind item, was "not true." According to Sauler, Manzano insisted that he wasn't lying when he denied the report last week, noting that he and Mercado were even together during that week's Aliw Awards, where the Kapamilya actor was named best male emcee. Reports of a rocky relationship between the celebrity couple has persisted for several months now. And while Manzano has consistently defended their relationship, last month, he may have been hinting about their future when remarked: "Ang relasyon naman ay dalawa lang yan -- either magkakatuluyan kayo or maghihiwalay kayo. Masyadong 50-50," Manzano said. According to an article published on showbiz website Push.com on Friday, Manzano supposedly got suspicious when Mercado's name was dragged as the alleged third party in the separation of actor Paolo Contis from his wife, EB Babes dancer Lian Paz.

Luis Manzano shares stand on pork barrel issue

MANILA – Amid calls for the abolition of priority development assistance fund (PDAF) or pork barrel, actor-host Luis Manzano believes it would be better if Filipinos push for a more transparent government instead. Explaining his stand, Manzano, the son of Batangas Governor Vilma Santos, said: “Para sa akin, it (pork bareel) is not innately evil. It is a source of temptation definitely sa laki ng perang umiikot sa pork barrel. However, iisipin din natin na marami ding natulungan ang pork barrel. Maraming mga eskwelahan, mga ospital, mga kalye kung gamitin ng tama.” However, he clarified that he supports that those behind the pork barrel scam should be held liable. “Sa akin, mas gusto ko na may transparency. Gusto ko better check and balance. Gusto ko this time may managot sa nangyari. Kung puwede nga lang, sa akin every taxpayer, gusto ko may access siya sa mga transaction ng LGU. Para sa akin, it’s freedom of information. Para sa akin not necessarily abolish, but transparency and check and balance,” he said. Manzano said lawmakers should not steal the money of the public, who elected them in office. Asked whether his being vocal about his opinion on the pork barrel issue is an indication that he wants to join politics someday, the Kapamilya host said: “Every cent counts, especially if para talaga sa bayan. I just have a stand. Not just because you have a stand means you’re entitled to run or you deserve to run.” Last Auguest 26, local celebrities joined thousands of Filipinos in calling for the abolition of the pork barrel during the Million People March at the Rizal Park. MANILA – Television host Luis Manzano is getting tired of clarifying rumors concerning his relationship with actress Jennylyn Mercado. In the past months, the couple has been plagued with rumors claiming that they have either separated, or they have already tied the knot. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Sunday, Manzano gave some "advice" to those who keep on spreading gossip about them. “Nakakagulat nga, may hiwalay na kami, may pinagdadaanan, may live in, may kasal. MANILA – Actress Jennylyn Mercado thinks now is not yet the time to tie the knot. This comes after her boyfriend Luis Manzano admitted on national TV that he wouldn't mind settling down soon. Luis Manzano denies offers to leave ABS-CBN

MANILA – Television host and actor Luis Manzano denied that he planned to transfer to another network when his contract with ABS-CBN had expired. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Manzano said the Kapamilya network has been good to him and there’s no reason for him to jump ship. “Wala. Ang sinabi ko naman talaga nung time na iyon -- I think there was an interview that I did -- sabi ko totoo naman kung matapos ang kontrata mo, if mas gusto mo offer ng kabilang istasyon, kung malaki ang pera, lumipat ka,” he said. “But nagkataon wala. I could say na there were no offers naman from either [channel] 7 or 5. I’m here. It’s not just because wala akong offer kaya ako nandito. Napakaganda ng inilatag sa akin ng ABS,” he added. On Wednesday, Manzano signed another three-year contract with ABS-CBN, which includes more game shows and a television series. While he is open to doing a movie as well, Manzano said his current schedule won’t permit him to do so. “Movies, may mga offers pero hindi talaga kaya ng schedule. Mahirap eh. Mayroon dapat gagawin siyempre hindi ko naman puwede sabihin, pero nagkataon na it’s gonna be my rest month. Sa puntong iyon, parati akong aalis so it will be very unfair din naman. Kumbaga hindi pa talaga kaya ng sched in terms of mga kailangan kong gawin sa TV,” he said. Meanwhile, Manzano broke his silence on rumors that Korean star Sandara Park wants to return to the Philippines and do a film with him. “Si Sandy kasi sobrang home sick.
