Toni happy to work with John Lloyd again

MANILA – Television host and actress Toni Gonzaga never thought she will be given another chance to work with John Lloyd Cruz, who is one of the most sought-after actors of his generation. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Gonzaga said she is excited to establish their on-screen chemistry anew – this time on the small screen. “Sabi ko nga, akala ko hindi ko na siya makakatambal ulit. Akala ko first and last na namin yung ‘Amnesia Girl.’ First time naming mag-TV so sana everyone will get to be a part of it. Sana they will enjoy,” she said. Gonzaga and Cruz will star in a sitcom titled "Home Sweetie Home," which is said to be like a modern-day version of the comedy series "John En Marsha." “It’s the newest Kapamilya sitcom so sana tangkilikin ng ating mga kapamilya… [It’s about] young lovers na eventually will get married and will have a family. Sa Philippines, usually kapag pinakasalan mo ang isa, pinakasalan mo ang buong pamilya. It’s a riot family comedy,” she said. In the first teaser for "Home Sweetie Home" released online, Cruz and Gonzaga are seen alone in a room apparently preparing to get intimate -- until they get disturbed by family members. Portraying the apparent parents of Gonzaga's character are Sandy Andolong and Rico J. Puno. Child star Clarence Delgado and teen actress Miles Ocampo, meanwhile, play her siblings. Life after ‘The Buzz’ Meanwhile, Gonzaga made it clear that she has no ill feelings after leaving “The Buzz” weeks ago. Stressing that she has no regrets hosting the entertainment show for three years, Gonzaga said: “I think 'The Buzz' is already an institution. I also miss doing that show. I’ve learned so much for the past three years that I’ve hosted the show. Hindi ko maipagpapalit ang natutunan ko doon.” Gonzaga said she understands the management’s decision to reformat the show, adding that she trusts that the network knows what’s best for the show -- and her career. “Ganun talaga, kailangan ng rotation and kailangan ng improvement ng lahat ng programa. As an employee of ABS-CBN, trabaho lang naman, wala talagang personalan,” she said. "The Buzz" was reformatted into "Buzz ng Bayan," which is now hosted by Boy Abunda, Carmina Villaroel and Janice de Belen.

Alex Gonzaga admits Toni Gonzaga is stricter on her than their Mommy Pinty

100413alex-main.jpg

After being welcomed back to the Kapamilya network, Alex Gonzaga said she felt lucky to be part of The Voice of the Philippines.Alex said it is sad that some people think she only got the gig because her big sister Toni included her as a package deal. (laughs) Talagang sobrang saya ko,” she recalled. The 25-year-old host-actress said her sister is her number one critic on the set. Currently single right now, Alex said her sister also appraises guys who want to court her. But Alex herself admitted she would rather focus on her career than have a serious relationship this year. “Parang concentrate muna ako sa aking trabaho. May dini-date ako pero as of now, nothing serious, walang commitment. Parang personal choice ko na rin kasi sabi ni ate yung binibigay sa akin na opportunities parang huwag kong hatiin yung atensyon ko dapat,” she added. If ever she was to have a boyfriend, Alex said her family prefers she date a non-showbiz guy. “Ang gusto talaga ng aking family especially my sister, is non-showbiz kasi parang iba naman sa mundo namin and at the same time para breath of fresh air sa mga ginagawa mo,” she explained. When asked if she wants her sister to walk down the aisle already with longtime boyfriend Paul Soriano, Alex said she has mixed feelings about it.

Toni to propose to BF if 'Transit' wins Oscar

MANILA – Director Paul Soriano, who is the producer of the movie “Transit,” is now in talks for the distribution of the acclaimed Filipino film in the United States, according to his girlfriend, actress-host Toni Gonzaga. This after the Film Academy of the Philippines chose “Transit” to be the country’s official entry to the 86th Academy Awards. Speaking on “The Buzz” where she is a host on Sunday, Gonzaga said Soriano wants to do everything to boost the movie's chances of earning an official nomination. “They will be competing against 70 countries and we are aiming for the Oscars. Actually next week -- tinanong ko na kay Paul kung puwede ko i-announce -- he is already meeting with Hollywood producers who are interested in distributing ‘Transit’ and promoting it in the States,” she said. Ever the supportive girlfriend, Gonzaga said she is proud and happy for Soriano, who, she said, gave his all when they were doing this film. “It was a tough decision daw for the Film Academy of the Philippines but actually it came as a shock to them. I got the text from Paul, I was sleeping. I woke up 2 p.m kasi galing kami sa shoot, tapos ang text lang niya sa akin ‘Please wake up, good news.’ So I called him right away and he said na ‘Tin, God is good. 'Transit' is chosen as the representative of the Philippines na makapasok sa Oscars.’ I think the Oscars is going to be in March and the whole campaign will be in December and January,” she shared. Drawing laughter from the audience, Gonzaga said she will be the one to propose marriage to Soriano if he gets to bring home the Oscar. “Pag naiuwi mo iyan, ako ang magpo-propose sa iyo. Nag-cameo kasi ako doon. So puwede akong rumampa doon talaga,” she said. Shot in Herzliya, Israel, "Transit" tells the story of Moises (Ping Medina) and Janet (Irma Adlawan), two overseas Filipinos who are forced to hide their respective children (Marc Justine Alvarez and Jasmine Curtis-Smith) after learning of the government's plan to deport children of foreign workers. The October 1 deadline for film submissions will be followed by the Academy's release of a list of eligible entries later that month. This will be trimmed down to nine finalists in January, with the final five nominees announced in the same month. The 86th Academy Awards ceremony will be held on March 2 at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California.

Toni's mom: We want Direk Paul to be our son-in-law

MANILA - The parents of actress-host Toni Gonzaga said they support the relationship of their daughter with director Paul Soriano. In an interview with ABS-CBNnews.com, Crisanta and Carlito Gonzaga said they believe that Soriano is the right man for their daughter. We want him to be our son-in-law," Crisanta said. Gonzaga's mother said she and her husband are ready if ever their daughter and Soriano decide to get married. "Ako, [ready] anytime. We are prepared already. Basta kung ready kayo, kami susuportahan namin kayo at nasa right age na kayo,'" said Crisanta, who admitted that she does not want her daughter to have kids at an old age. "Mahirap naman 'yung matanda ka, mahirap manganak at mag-aalaga ka ng anak mo kung kailan matanda ka na. Ayaw ko naman na ganoon sila. Gusto ko 'yung makita ko sila na happy family sila," she added. Soriano and Gonzaga have been a couple for seven years now. Last July, Soriano hinted that he will propose to Gonzaga "very soon." "She’s 30 in January so keep your cameras on, it’s happening very soon," he said.

Toni doesn't want Paul to propose publicly

MANILA – Host-actress Toni Gonzaga does not want her long-time boyfriend, director Paul Soriano, to propose to her in public. Speaking on “The Buzz” on Sunday, Gonzaga said she wants to keep that moment to themselves if ever Soriano indeed proposes marriage to her. “Kinausap ko siya. Ayaw ko naman ng public proposal. I cannot take it. Gusto ko umiyak, namnamin. Siyempre kapag maraming tao, gagandahan ko ang iyak ko. Ayaw ko ng ganun, gusto ko humagulgol,” she said. Asked what she would do if Soriano proposes to her at this time, Gonzaga replied: “Nakikiusap ako tapusin muna niya ang finals ng ‘The Voice.’” Gonzaga is the host of "The Voice of the Philippines," which is just starting its live shows later Sunday night. In a previous interview, Soriano said he is planning to propose “when she (Gonzaga) least expects it.” “She’s 30 in January so keep your cameras on, it’s happening very soon,” he said. The director, however, refused to talk about the matter further, saying their main focus as of the moment is their respective careers. “She’s very supportive, just like I am with her career. That’s what makes relationships work -- when you share dreams with each other and walang inggitan,” he said. Gonzaga and Soriano have been a couple for seven years now.

Toni uninformed on pullout of MMFF entry

MANILA – Actress Toni Gonzaga said she has yet to be formally informed about the reported pullout of her upcoming movie, “My Super Kap,” from this year’s Metro Manila Film Festival. “Wala pang sit-down, wala pang pormal na sinabi ni Tita Malou [Santos, Star Cinema managing director], wala halos talaga. Nagulat na lang ako na sabi na na-announce sa TV, pero wala pa talagang formal na sit-down about the movie,” Gonzaga told entertainment website Pep.ph. Last week, MMDA Chairman Francis Tolentino said the film was pulled out due to conflicts in the schedules of Bong Revilla’s leading ladies -- Gonzaga and Ai Ai delas Alas. Revilla added that they won't be able to beat the deadline because of the film's special effects. “Hindi ko talaga alam kaya hindi ko masagot. Hindi ko talaga masagot 'yan. Kasi before, 'yung mga schedules na meron ako, matagal ko nang schedule naman na 'yun so hindi ko talaga alam kung ano talagang dahilan,” she said. The film, which was one of the eight official entries for this year's MMFF, will be moved next year. Instead of dwelling on this issue, Gonzaga said she’d rather focus first on her movie with Piolo Pascual. “Okay naman, masaya, naka-four shooting days na kami. We’re getting more and more comfortable with each other, mas lumalapat na si Jeannie sa akin at si Marco sa kanya. Mas nagkakaroon na kami ng connection sa pelikula,” she said. Aside from her movie with Pascual, Gonzaga also regularly appears on “The Buzz,” “ASAP” and “The Voice of the Philippines.”

Paul to propose to Toni 'when she least expects it'

MANILA – Commercial and film director Paul Soriano hinted that he will be proposing to his long-time girlfriend, TV host Toni Gonzaga, “very soon.” Soriano was recently cornered by the media who asked him with questions relating to a possible wedding with Gonzaga since the theme of the actress’ latest movie is about a wedding and family. Responding to persistent marriage questions, Soriano told Cinema News that he is planning to do it “when she (Gonzaga) least expects it.” “She’s 30 in January so keep your cameras on, it’s happening very soon,” he said. The director, however, refused to talk about the matter further, saying their main focus as of the moment is their respective careers. “She’s very supportive, just like I am with her career. That’s what makes relationships work -- when you share dreams with each other and walang inggitan,” he said. Just like his girlfriend, Soriano said he also has his hands full with his upcoming projects as director and a producer. “I got a film in Israel and I’m doing another film end of the year. We are both very busy, both doing our thing. When it’s finally time to become one, we’ll all let you know,” he said. With the possibility of working abroad, will a long distance relationship with Gonzaga be a problem? “I don’t think it will be naman a long distance. I’ll always be based here in the Philippines. If work takes me abroad, great. I think it’s about communication. We’ll make sure it works. Toni is always encouraging me. She says, ‘Go abroad, do what you got to do,’” he said. Soriano and Gonzaga have been a couple for seven years now.

Cameras set to roll for Piolo-Toni movie

MANILA – Cameras are finally set to roll for the upcoming movie of Toni Gonzaga and Piolo Pascual, who first worked together in a television commercial back in 2001. Speaking to “The Buzz” on Sunday, Gonzaga said playing the role of Pascual’s leading lady has been one of her dreams because she got her showbiz breaks after starring with him in a popular beverage ad. “Magshu-shoot na kami ng Piolo movie. First time, 13 years ago, I started out as a fan sa commercial and then now makakasama ko na siya sa isang pelikula as a leading lady,” she said. Gonzaga said she admires Pascual because he hasn’t changed a bit since she first met him. “Isa sa mga napansin ko na hindi ko makakalimutan, ang first impression ko sa kanya napaka-humble niya. Wala siyang special treatment. Up to now ganun pa rin siya. Mahusay siya makisama,” she said. Talk about a movie with Gonzaga and Pascual first surfaced in late 2011. The two Kapamilya stars, however, were given separate projects since then. Gonzaga’s last movie was the box-office hit “Four Sisters and A Wedding,” while Pascual’s latest film is the acclaimed “On The Job.”

Paul Soriano on wedding plans with Toni Gonzaga: ‘I’ll propose when she least expects it’

Director Paul Soriano escorted Toni Gonzaga to the premiere of Four Sisters And A Wedding last Tuesday, June 25. In an interview with Push.com.ph and other entertainment reporters, he expressed how proud he was after watching his girlfriend’s dramatic performance in the film. “I know how hard she works so I’m proud of her. Every time I can support her, I’m there. She never fails to show something new.” The couple recently marked their sixth anniversary, but direk Paul claimed that he and Toni haven’t celebrated it yet due to their busy schedules. But he added that it doesn’t have to be grand as long as they spend time together. “We haven’t celebrated it yet because she's busy with her movie. So now maybe we can make plans, have dinner together, [or] just be together. Our relationship is doing great, it’s strong, it’s getting towards where I want to be, where she wants to be.” Although they both have their hands full with their respective work commitments, Direk Paul revealed that he appreciates Toni’s efforts to surprise him with sweet little gestures. “For me it’s the little things [that matter]. She’s doing this movie, she’s hosting The Voice of The Philippines, and she’s got a cooking show. But she still sees me at 12 midnight just to say hello, just to say good night, give me a cupcake. She likes to bake. I’m in love with her caramel and carrot cupcakes.” It’s interesting to note that Toni has been posting Instagram photos of her homemade goodies, which surprised some of her followers since she still finds time to bake pastries despite her busy schedule. She later revealed in an interview that Direk Paul actually encouraged her to do so and even enrolled her in culinary classes last year. Direk Paul, in turn, said he feels happy because Toni can now put it into good use with her upcoming cooking show. “Yes, she loves to cook. She started learning how to bake and how to cook two years ago. What a blessing because she’s doing a cooking show. Her food is great so it’s good practice for her, for the future,” he added with a laugh. As it is, Direk Paul is also busy directing TV commercials and producing indie films. He’s also working on co-producing films in Los Angeles, which is why he often goes abroad lately. Good thing Toni is equally supportive of all his endeavors. “Toni always encourages me. She tells me to go abroad, do what you got to do. She’s very supportive just like I am with her career. That’s what makes our relationship great. When you share your dreams with each other, walang inggitan. We know where the relationship is going. We’ve been together for six years. I’ve known her for seven. So I believe it’s all about having a strong foundation.” When asked about their wedding plans, Direk Paul claimed that it’s only a matter of time before he pops the question to Toni. “Let’s put it this way, when I have a wedding with Toni, the outfits will be very different. But yeah you guys have to watch out for that in the film,” he joked, referring to a particular scene in Four Sisters And A Wedding. On a serious note, he added that he would make sure that Toni would be surprised when he proposes to her. “When it comes to the wedding I told Toni, this is your day, your time to shine. Just tell me what to wear, what to do, I’ll do it. She knows that. But of course I still have to ask the question muna. The ball’s in my court. I guess for me, my plan is when she least expects it.” The press reminded Direk Paul that Toni hopes to get married at the age of 30. To which he cheerfully replied, “She’ll be turning 30 in January so keep your cameras on, guys. It’s happening very soon.”

Toni on numerous projects: 'Panapanahon lang'

MANILA – Actress-host Toni Gonzaga shrugged off talks that she is one of the most favored artists in the Kapamilya network. Gonzaga’s reaction came after several people noticed that she seems to have numerous projects on ABS-CBN just six months into 2013. “Hindi naman. Ganun naman talaga ang buhay ng artista. Panapanahon lang. Minsan nagkakapatong patong ang proyekto, minsan naman madalang,” she told ABS-CBN News. Gonzaga currently appears on the musical variety show ”ASAP.” She also hosts the talent reality search “The Voice of the Philippines” and the showbiz-oriented show “The Buzz.” On top of these, Gonzaga will also launch her own cooking show very soon -- "Kuwentong Buhay, Kuwentong Kusina," which will feature inspiring stories from featured letter senders. She is also among the lead stars of the movie “Four Sisters and a Wedding,” featuring Angel Locsin, Shaina Magdayao, Bea Alonzo and Enchong Dee. Gonzaga said it just so happened that her shows and movie are being released at the same time. "Ngayon lang siguro nagkasabay-sabay. We started this (cooking show) earlier this year. Nagkataon lang na June pinalabas at sumabay sa 'The Voice,'" she said.

Wedding bells soon for Toni, Paul?

MANILA, Philippines -- Actress-host Toni Gonzaga finally spoke on the issue that her boyfriend of six years, director Paul Soriano, is seeing another girl. The issue stemmed a photo circulating online which shows Soriano with another woman who is not from showbiz. Gonzaga said the photo was taken way before she met Soriano. "Lumang picture, before na hindi pa kami nagkakakakilala. Tumu-throwback Thursday naman at Flashback Friday," she told reporters on Friday, referring to the practice of posting old photos on social media sites on certain days of the week. Irritated by the intrigues, Gonzaga said she would rather focus on making her relationship with Soriano work. "Dumating na ako sa point na I don't want to defend the picture anymore, I don't want to say anything about the picture anymore because it will sound na parang pinagtatanggol ko siya at masyado akong, iisipin ng iba, tanga-tangahan ako. Hindi na," she said. "Kung ano na lang makita niyo sa litrato, husgahan niyo na lang siya hanggang gusto niyong husgahan. Pagpiyestahan niyo siya hanggang gusto niyong pagpiyestahan. Kasi ang importante ay nakarating na ako sa six years, kampante na kalooban ko, may peace of mind na ako. Ang babae naman, may intuition. Kami, sanay na kami," she added. Gonzaga admitted Soriano also felt hurt after learning about the issue. "Noong una nahu-hurt siya. He's not from the business, director siya, iniisip niya why people can come up with this, why are people like that, people are mean. Sabi ko, hindi natin 'yon maiiwasan talaga. There are people who like to celebrate 'yung lies and negative issues or negative stories, gusto nila 'yon, hayaan na lang natin," she said. Gonzaga then stressed the importance of trust in any relationship. "I think trust is very important. At kapag nasira ang trust, kahit anong sabihin natin na buo na siya ulit, may cracks na 'yon. So it's very important to take care of trust. Alam niya (Soriano) ang consequence hindi lang sa akin. Alam niya din ang consequence sa mommy ko, sa daddy ko, madaming consequence." On marriage and the 7-year-itch This June, Gonzaga and Soriano are celebrating their seventh year as a couple. "Right now, dahil sunud-sunod ang schedule, medyo hindi pa kami nagkakaroon ng time. Pero kami naman ni Paul, we see to it that every day can be anniversary day, hindi lang 'yung exact date na 'yon. So we will find time to spend our anniversary in another day. Going on our seventh (year)," Gonzaga said. Asked about her thoughts on the "seven-year-itch," a tipping point where couples usually start taking each other for granted, Gonzaga said: "Oo nga eh, lagi nilang sinasabi pero I don't want to dwell on the negative. I'd rather think of it as we're going on our seventh wonderful year. Kasi kapag inisip mo, the seven-year-itch na negative, baka doon pumunta." "Simula noong second year namin, every year may hula na mabubuntis ako, every year may hula na mabubuntis ako, at every year may hula na maghihiwalay kami at every year may hula na magpapakasal kami. So, hopefully may tumamang isa, 'yun na lang," she added. Asked if Soriano is getting tired of waiting for them to settle down, Gonzaga replied: "Naiinip na din yon. Hindi na ako magsisinungaling, may mga times na inip na inip na din yon. Dahil medyo patong-patong ang trabaho and I'm a contract artist of ABS-CBN, there are some stipulations sa contract, so tinatapos ko 'yon. Malapit na din naman. So darating na din tayo sa puntong 'yon na kapag I'm moving on to the next chapter of my life ay sasabihin ko naman. Ayaw ko nang magsalita kung kailan." So is Gonzaga ready should Soriano propose to her this year? "Go, wala na rin akong magagawa. Walang pigilan. Wala pang proposal. Sasabihin ko naman sa inyo kapag nag-propose na. Tignan niyo, dini-delay ang anniversary, malay niyo mag-propose," she said. Cooking show Aside from "ASAP" and "The Voice of the Philippines, Gonzaga will be hosting a cooking show titled "Kuwentong Buhay, Kuwentong Kusina," which will feature inspiring stories from featured letter senders. Together with a Kapamilya star or a celebrity chef, Gonzaga will prepare special recipes. The host-actress said her newest show came as a big surprise to her. "Noong sinabi sa akin na may cooking reality show, sabi ko, hindi nga? Kasi nahilig ako sa pagluluto. Sabi ko nakakatuwa na mag-bless si Lord, nahilig ako sa pagluluto, parang it's my newfound passion. Tapos ngayon ay mae-enhance ko pa ang passion na 'yon sa pamamagitan nito. 'Ang Kwentong Buhay, Kuwentong Kusina' po is not an just ordinary cooking show because it's not just going to feature the dishes, kung hindi story na makaka-inspire sa atin. We are featuring different people and how their lives changed because of food, and how food became part of their life," Gonzaga said. In the interview, Gonzaga shrugged off the issue comparing her to Judy Ann Santos, who recently hosted the local editions of the cooking reality shows "MasterChef" and "Junior MasterChef." "Ay naku huwag po. Huwag niyo kaming i-compare kasi ang hinost ni Ms. Judai ay 'MasterChef,' it's a cooking competition show, cooking contest. This is not a contest, this is a reality cooking show. Naisip ko nga kaya ako nailagay dito dahil may reality na nakasulay. So it's a reality show that has cooking," she said. Asked if her fondness for cooking is a preparation for her in case she settles down, Gonzaga said: "This can be a good preparation for me, mahirap naman magi-start ka ng family mo tapos hindi mo kayang alagaan ang family mo. Part of taking care of your family is cooking for them, not just loving them or taking care of them. So 'yung pakainin mo sila at busugin ng pagmamahal sa kusina," she said.

Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes that represent 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population, while the other ratings data supplier AGB Nielsen reportedly has only 1,980 homes based solely in urban areas that represent only 57% of the Philippine TV viewing population. Toni: Distance won't affect my relationship with Paul

MANILA – Television host and actress Toni Gonzaga is confident that distance will not affect her relationship with director Paul Soriano. This comes after Gonzaga posted a picture of them together on the image-sharing site Instagram, where she expressed in the caption her sadness as Soriano was then bound for Israel. In an interview with entertainment website Push.com.ph, Gonzaga said she understands that Soriano has to be away sometimes because of work. She said work schedules never became an issue for them because they are both in the entertainment industry. “Yun [trabaho] muna focus namin sa ngayon but we still keep in touch. It’s easier since high tech naman na ang mga phones ngayon, hindi mo na kailangan ng laptop para mag-video chat. Dati ang hilig namin sa Skype pero ngayon may Viber na at uso na rin ang Tangle. Pwede na mag-Facetime anytime,” she said. Gonzaga said Soriano is currently in Israel to oversee the shoot of the 2013 Cinemalaya entry “Transit." She said her long-time boyfriend is also set to fly to the United States for a possible project. “Ayaw ko sabihin [exactly kung ano] magagalit ‘yun sa akin. May maganda siyang possible opportunity na magagawa doon,” she said. While Soriano is not in the country, Gonzaga said she will just keep herself busy with her current projects including an upcoming movie with Bea Alonzo, Angel Locsin and Shaina Magdayao. Gonzaga said she is always looking forward to being with the three actresses because they are always goofing around the set. “Kasi ang daldal ko, madami akong napapansin sa set. Bentang-benta naman ako kay Bea Alonzo. Kapag tumawa naman si Bea, tawa rin si Shaina. And, of course, tawa rin si Angel but more on concentrating talaga si Angel sa kanyang role. Talagang focus talaga ang lola mo, hindi mo siya ma-i-interrupt ‘pag nagmo-motivate na siya. Ang saya ‘pag off cam,” she said. Gonzaga said she feels fortunate to be given the chance to work with this generation’s top actresses.

Alex: Nothing wrong with working with sister Toni

MANILA, Philippines - Actress Alex Gonzaga said she sees nothing wrong with working with her sister, Toni Gonzaga, for ABS-CBN's "The Voice of the Philippines." Alex recently returned to the Kapamilya network to help her sister in hosting the upcoming singing competition. She said working with Toni would even be better for her since she'd get to save on food expenses. "Hindi naman po [masama na makatrabaho ko ang ate ko]. Mas maganda kasi makakatipid ko. Ang pagkain siya na ang bibili, sa dressing room [hati kami]," she said. Alex admitted, however, that she feels the pressure of working alongside Toni, who is one of the biggest stars of ABS-CBN at the moment. But she is happy that her sister has been very supportive of her. "Excited pa nga siya, ang dami na niyang sinasabi na, 'O, Catherine, ito ang gagawin mo kapag nag-gi-guest ka rito,'" Alex said. Aside from "The Voice of the Philippines," Alex is also part of the gag show "Banana Nite." She is also set to do a series on ABS-CBN. "Exciting talaga, and happy talaga ako kasi lahat ng pwede kong magawa ay nabigyan ako ng chance, like 'Banana Nite,'" she said.

Toni's first impression of Shaina changed

MANILA – Host-actress Toni Gonzaga admitted her first impression of Shaina Magdayao changed when she started to work with her for an upcoming Star Cinema movie. Gonzaga and Magdayao will be headlining a comedy film slated for release this year along with Bea Alonzo and Angel Locsin. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Gonzaga said: “Naiba ang impression ko kay Shaina. Kay Shaina medyo aloof ako kasi naiisip ko ang tagal tagal na niya sa ABS na parang may set of friends na siya dito, baka hindi na siya open makipag-friends sa mga katulad namin na hindi pa ganoon katagal sa network.” “I was surprised na she’s very mature for her age. She has a lot of wisdom also maybe because of what she’s been through so she’s able to keep up with our conversations nila Angel and Bea,” she added. According to Gonzaga, it really helps that all of them spend quality time together. “We have dinner together para we can get to know each other better. Because we play the role of siblings, mas imporante 'yung may connection kami sa isa’t isa,” she said. Saying “marami akong natututunan sa kanila about life and love life,” Gonzaga said she looks forward to every shooting day because of her co-stars. “Exciting kasi first time kong umupo at makatrabaho ang tatlong babae sa isang pelikula. Ang taas ng energy, ang daming raging hormones ng mga babae na naglalabasan sa set. Ang saya saya. I learn so much from them when I see how they attack their roles,” she said. “This is one exciting movie na sana huwag niyo po palagpasin. You can really identify. When we were reading the script, when we were all talking about our characters, I was already able to identify with my character,” she added.

John Lloyd: I really had a crush on Toni Gonzaga

MANILA – John Lloyd Cruz admitted he once had a crush on Toni Gonzaga, with whom he had a chance to work with in a Star Cinema romantic-comedy flick and a Kapamilya television series. In an interview with Boy Abunda on “Inside the Cinema,” Cruz recalled how awkward he felt when he and Gonzaga were taping for the series “Maging Sino Ka Man” back in 2008. “Kasi may second book ang ‘Maging Sino Ka Man’ and si Toni was part of that. When we were doing that, hindi ko kayang tignan si Toni. Tunaw ako, as in talagang babae ako, parang hindi ako makatingin. Crush ko talaga si Toni Gonzaga dati,” he said. Cruz said it was when they did “My Amnesia Girl” two years later that he got over his shyness towards the actress. “Buti na lang nakaget-over na ako, kaya ko na siyang tignan. I loved [My Amnesia Girl]. I love Toni. Doon nagsimula ang pick-up lines eh,” he said. Cruz said he really admires Gonzaga because she can deliver comedic lines and touch the heart at the same time. Cruz's team-up with Gonzaga in "My Amnesia Girl" was among his most-watched movies. It earned P144.8 million in its entire theatrical run and it also gave him and Gonzaga the title “Box Office King and Queen for 2010” by SM Cinema in 2010.
