MANILA, Philippines -- The son of senator-elect Grace Poe has expressed his desire to join the world of show business.
Speaking with ANC's "Pipol," 21-year-old Brian Llamanzares said he already has his mother's blessings to pursue a career in show business.
Brian just graduated from Ateneo de Manila University with a degree in political science.
"My mom actually is the one who wants me to go into show business because she's more comfortable with it. You know our family has been in showbiz for decades," he said.
The incoming senator is an adopted child of celebrity couple Fernando Poe Jr. and Susan Roces.
Senatorial campaign a family affair
Both Brian and Poe's husband, Neil Llamanzares, played big roles during the campaign period.
Brian served as Poe's campaign coordinator and speaker at rallies, while Neil handled all campaign finances, making sure that "every centavo counts."
Neil is an information technology professional.
Brian said he has been "preparing for this since I'm 13 years old," noting that his late grandfather ran for president in 2004. The late action king, however, lost to Gloria Macapagal Arroyo allegedly due to cheating.
During the interview, he also shared the three values her mother has taught him through the years -- honesty, integrity and humility.
"My mom always taught me that beyond the honesty, beyond the integrity, when you work hard and you eventually get to a position of success, you always have to remember this one phrase because this was what your grandfather taught me: 'In victory, humility,'" Brian said.
