Enrique Gil admits it's not impossible for him to fall for an older woman

After his first time as leading man to Bea Alonzo in She's the One, Enrique Gil admitted he was really nervous when they shot kissing scenes for the movie. “Nag-mouthwash ako ng solid (laughs) Hindi joke lang. Ako nung una kinakabahan talaga ako sobra. As in sobra. At saka yung mga eksena namin ako pa yung pinapawisan sa ibang eksena namin tapos si Bea wala lang. Basta ayun. Pero okay naman nagawa naman namin lahat yung mga ganun. Napakagaling ni Bea, artistang artista,” he said. Enrique, or Quen, said he did not expect them to have kissing scenes when he accepted the project. “Nung una sinabi na walang kissing scene tapos nung nag-shu-shoot na kami biglang binago sabi may kissing scene na. Hindi ko alam yung pakiramdam ko nun eh, hindi ko ma-explain. Ewan ko, parang gusto ko magawa ko lang ng maayos yung naiisip ko, ayun,” he recalled. When asked if he ever had a crush on his She's The One leading lady, Enrique admitted it was hard not to be attracted to Bea. “Oo naman. Okay na yun. Sasabihin ko talaga na sobrang bait ni Bea, sobrang maalaga. So sa sobrang bait na tao sinong hindi ma-i-in love sa napakagada at napakabait na tao? Yun lang. Siyempre nakakadala yung eksena pag maganda so dapat madala ka talaga. Siyempre nailang ako kasi first kissing scene ko na ganung level, yung solid na kiss so tense talaga, kahit sino namang gagawa ng una talaga ma-te-tense. Wala, na-te-tense lang talaga ako, yun lang,” he said. At 21 years old, Quen is being groomed as one of ABS-CBN's top leading men. “Siyempre sobrang saya. Never ko ma-imagine na makasama ko sa pelikula si Dingdong (Dantes) at saka si Bea so nung sinabi pa lang sa akin, before there was excitement it was really pressure talaga. Kasi kailangan ibigay mo rin, I don't know, sobrang saya ko lang. I just got to do what I got to do,” he shared. Just like his character David in the movie, Quen admitted it is not impossible for him to fall for an older woman. “Oo, I mean para sa akin kung mahal mo talaga ang isang tao na hindi mo mapigilan, siguro puwede oo naman. Nothing is impossible naman. Pag may something, may something talaga,” he admitted.

Enrique Gil is not too keen on doing mature roles

102513-Enrique_Main.jpg

After being showered with praises for his performance in the blockbuster film She’s The One, Enrique Gil vowed to give his very best in his next projects, especially now that people are dubbing him as the showbiz’s “next big thing.” “Ewan ko basta I’ll just do my best kapag nakita ng ABS na maybe karapat-dapat talaga ako eh di salamat talaga kasi ibibigay ko talaga ang lahat eh. Thank you,” he promised in an interview during the press conference of his upcoming dance concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum titled King of the Gil held at Sir Boy’s Food Republique on October 22. However, while he appreciates the predictions of She’s the One writers Anton Sta. Maria and Charlene Sawit-Esguerra’s about the path of his career, the young star also touted as “the next ultimate leading man” was not too keen on their second conclusion: that he would be offered more mature roles in the future. “Well doon sa mature roles, ‘yun ang binabantayan namin kasi sa two shows na pine-present sa akin. ‘Yung isa mas mature, ‘yung isa hindi masyado. Kasi choice namin kung saan kami pupunta eh, kung sa more mature o hindi ba muna. “[Pero] kasi sayang din kapag mature na. It’s hard to go back to [doing roles that are near your age na], hindi eh, so siguro just enjoy muna kasi darating ka sa point na magma-mature ka eh. ‘Pag dumating ka doon, tuloy-tuloy na eh so siguro enjoy the moment muna hangga’t kaya pa,” he explained. So he’s not keen to do mature roles just as yet? “Yes, in a way, siguro it’s also [one way kasi on] how to prolong your career ‘di ba?” he quipped. At 21, and with swagger dance moves to boot, the Cebu-born mestizo has an appeal that crosses a wide age range. Some even consider him as the Channing Tatum of the Philippines. Is it okay for him to be known for his sexy appeal and sexy dance moves like Channing? “Well, siguro oo. I think it’s okay because people enjoy. Basta para sakin basta nag-e-enjoy ang tao sa akin wala akong pakialam basta enjoy sila happy ako. So whatever they see me, kung ano ang gusto nila okay sa akin,” he replied. Speaking of Channing, the actor is well known for his 2012 comedy-drama-risque film Magic Mike. When asked if he would be open to baring some skin on cam and channel Channing’s stripper role, the Muling Buksan ang Puso star laughed and replied, “Ay hindi ko alam kung papayag ang ABS-CBN doon pero siguro sa future kung pwede, why not?” While he may still be quite far from having a perfectly-chiseled body like Channing’s, Enrique can however boast of having a large and diverse fan base that includes not only women of all ages but also those from the third sex. Is there a conscious effort to be “appealing” to all genders on his part whenever he’s dancing? Enrique said there is none and explained that it’s somehow second nature for him to be the sensual type of guy. “Kasi kapag halata na may effort ‘yung gumagawa no’n hindi na natural tignan eh. So iba ‘yun. Enrique’s dance concert King of the Gil is on Novemer 29 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum with guests Vice Ganda, Angel Locsin, Toni Gonzaga, Kim Chiu, Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Rico Blanco, Gloc-9, Young JV, Arjo Atayde, Ejay Falcon, Arron Villaflor and the G-Force.

Bea Alonzo thinks Enrique Gil has 'swag'

Actress Bea Alonzo believes it is the "swag" of actor Enrique Gil that makes girls go crazy over him. Asked to demonstrate this swag, Alonzo was forced to engage in a dance-off with Gil on "Gandang Gabi Vice" on Sunday. A former dancer, actor Dingding Dantes also showed comedian-host Vice Ganda that he can still pull off some old school dance moves. -- ABS-CBN, Gandang Gabi Vice, October 13, 2013

Enrique-Bea kiss not originally part of story

MANILA – Enrique Gil was not expecting to be doing a kissing scene with Bea Alonzo for their movie “She’s The One” as it was not originally part of the story. That's why Gil admitted he felt nervous when he read the script and found out that he will be doing a kissing scene with the actress. “Nung una kasi sabi wala naman daw. Nung nabasa ko 'yung script, hindi ko alam 'yung pakiramdam ko. Hindi ko ma-explain. Naisip ko na lang na sana magawa ko ng maayos,” he said, blushing, during the press conference for the Star Cinema-produced film on Monday night. The actor said he’s just thankful that he did his first “solid kissing scene” with Alonzo, who is one of the best actresses of the current generation. “Sobrang bait ni Bea, sobrang maalaga. First kissing scene ko na solid, ako pa 'yung pinapawisan, si Bea wala lang. Okay naman dahil napakagaling ni Bea. Artistang artista,” he said. Asked if he got carried away with the scene, Gil coyly answered: “Oo naman. Oo na 'yun.” “Sobrang saya po. Never ko na-imagine na makakasama sa pelikula sina Dingdong (Dantes) and Bea. Before excitement, it was really pressure din talaga kasi kailangan ibigay mo rin your best,” he added. Alonzo, for her part, said she just acted professionally about the scene so that Gil will not feel uncomfortable. “Kung ano 'yung regular na ginagawa ko kapag may ganung eksena na professional lang 'yung atmosphere, ganun lang. Siyempre I’d always tell him na ‘Okay lang, hindi ako nao-offend. It’s part of the job.’ Nabasa naman sa script. I knew na kailangan gawin 'yun, I knew na it’s going to happen,” she said. Alonzo also admitted that she was initially worried to be working with Dantes and Gil in the movie since it is her first time to be working with them. “Sabi ko paano ito, 'yung dalawang actors hindi ko pa sila nakakatrabaho? Sabi ko paano magkakaroon ng instant chemistry? I don’t even know them personally. Tapos sabi ni direk, ‘Alam mo once sinabi sa akin ni Ma’am Charo na 'yung pagiging in love is also a feeling just like when you’re sad or happy. Being in love is a feeling.’ Magaling kang artista kung kaya mong i-convey na in love ka sa isang tao kahit hindi,” she said. The romantic-comedy film is among Star Cinema's big-screen offerings in celebration of its 20th anniversary. Joining Alonzo, Dantes and Gil in "She's the One" are Maricar Reyes, Guji Lorenzana, Coleen Garcia, Daniel Matsunaga Erika Padilla, Marc Solis, RS Francisco and Garlic Garcia.

Enrique in 'triangle' with Bea, Dingdong in new film

MANILA -- Enrique Gil said he could not believe that his new big-screen project not only marks his first lead role in a romance film but also features him with box-office stars Bea Alonzo and Dingdong Dantes. A relative neophyte compared to his co-stars in "She's the One," Gil said he felt nervous about headlining a film with established actors. At 21, Gil is also younger than Alonzo by three years, and Dantes by 12 years. "Noong unang sinabi sa akin na makaka-triangle ko sina Bea at si Dingdong, 'What?' Sabi ko, 'Grabe 'to!' Sabi ko, 'Wow, teka lang!'" Gil said during a recent press conference for his ongoing TV series "Muling Buksan ang Puso," which will air its final episode on Friday. Gil said he was particularly nervous about working with Alonzo, who, despite being a fellow Star Magic talent, has been mostly an acquaintance to him. "Actually kahit papaano -- noong una talaga kinakabahan ako -- when I got to the set, nakausap ko si Bea. There's something about her na hindi ka maiilang sa mga eksena," he recalled. "It's the way she talks to you, she approaches you. Parang... Bea Alonzo, walang ilang factor lang sa akin. Kaya siguro, swerte lang ako," he said. As for Dantes, Gil shared they are, in fact, second cousins, "so mas at ease actually." Having already filmed several scenes with Alonzo and Dantes, Gil said he has become more comfortable with his co-stars, "pero syempre 'yung mga eksena, dapat bigay-todo pag kasama si Ms. Bea Alonzo." Love triangle In the first trailer for "She's the One," Gil's character is seen as a love interest to Cat (Alonzo), who has a complicated relationship with her best friend Joaqui (Dantes). In an apparent reunion with a group of friends, Cat and Joaqui's past is brought up with the mention of "tonsil hockey." The pair then proceeds to argue who kissed who at the time. While the two remain friends, Cat is seen forming a close relationship Gil's character. This appears to motivate Joaqui to show his true feelings for his best friend. Directed by Mae Cruz ("24/7 In Love," "Catch Me... I'm in Love") and written by Vanessa Valdez ("Four Sisters and a Wedding," "The Mistress"), "She's the One" will hit theaters nationwide on October 16. The film, which is among producer Star Cinema's 20th anniversary offerings, also marks the first team-up of Alonzo and Dantes. It is also the GMA-7 actor's third ABS-CBN movie after "Segunda Mano" and "One More Try." "She's the One" also stars Maricar Reyes, Liza Soberano, Tony Mabesa, Perla Bautista, Pinky Amador, Guji Lorenzana, RS Francisco, Marc Solis, Erika Padilla, Garlic Garcia, Daniel Matsunaga, LJ Reyes and Coleen Garcia.

Enrique Gil denies dating Liza Soberano

MANILA – “Muling Buksan ang Puso” lead actor Enrique Gil denied that he is currently dating fellow Star Magic artist Liza Soberano. This comes after the two were spotted together after the Star Magic Ball early this month even though Gil arrived at the party as actress Julia Montes’ escort. In an interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Gil said he and Soberano are just friends and even share the same handler. “Friends lang kami ni Liza kasi pareho kami ng handler. Sabi kasi ni Julia aakyat na siya, so sumama na lang ako sa handler ko. Eh wala ring kasama si Liza so sumama rin,” he said. In a previous interview, Gil said he really finds Soberano beautiful, along with Montes and Anne Curtis, adding that it is easy to like Soberano. “Siya 'yung tipong she’s so innocent, na 'yung tipong you see kung ano siya, ganun lang talaga siya. Hindi siya plastic, you know that she’s not hiding anything. Julia is the same pero mas katropa ko iyon kasi mas kakilala ko na siya,” he said. Last month, Gil said he is not closing his doors on possibly falling in love in the future as he is still currently focused on “Muling Buksan Ang Puso,” which is set to end its run soon.

Coco not jealous of Julia-Enrique love team

MANILA – Actor Coco Martin revealed he is not jealous of the growing closeness between “Muling Buksan ang Puso” lead stars Enrique Gil and Julia Montes. Martin had been vocal about his interest in Montes since they worked together for “Walang Hanggan” and the movie “A Moment in Time.” In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Martin said he is glad that Montes is very busy with work. "Masaya ako para sa kanila, lalong lalo na kay Julia na after ‘Walang Hanggan’ naging successful din ang next project niya," he said. Martin said there is no reason for him to be jealous because he and Montes continue to talk to each other. "Naku hindi [ako nagseselos]. Trabaho iyan eh. Saka hanggan ngayon naman umaasa pa rin ako na magkakasama kami ni Julia ulit sa isang proyekto," he said. While Montes is busy with her own project, Martin said he is also focused on the top-rating series “Juan dela Cruz” and his other activities. Enrique talks about his biggest acting role to date

MANILA – Entrusted with his biggest acting role to date, Enrique Gil vowed to do his best in the upcoming primetime series “Muling Buksan Ang Puso.” In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Wednesday, Gil said he has yet to get the hang of his new character as it is far from the one that he played in “Princess and I.” “Character-wise, ang dami kasing emotions sa ‘Princess and I.’ Pero ito it’s more of kalaban niya sarili niya kaysa sa kalaban niya 'yung ibang tao. It’s me eh. Kaya ko ito pero baka hindi kaya ng katawan ko. Pero 'yung will ko, gusto kong gawin ito. It’s more of kalaban ko ang sarili ko dito,” he explained. Gil said he is grateful that his co-stars and directors are guiding him well to properly deliver his role. “Kinakapa ko pa. Kasi nung first taping, sila direk, ‘Too much, huwag muna too much emotion.’ Eh wala pa akong pinapakita, so kinakapa ko pa. It’s tricky kasi sa mata ng director. Pero okay naman siya, you get the hang of it,” he said. Asked what he is most excited about in this new show, Gil said: “Gusto ko ibalik sa tao 'yung like ‘Walang Hanggan’ or like what ‘Princess and I’ gave. Yung tipong ine-enjoy nila 'yung show, hindi lang pinapanood. They are part of the show.” Gil will be acting opposite Julia Montes in “Muling Buksan Ang Puso,” which is set to premiere during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block on July 8. The series, which centers on the themes of forgiveness and second chances, also stars Enchong Dee as well as showbiz veterans Susan Roces, Dante Rivero and Pilar Pilapil, Agot Isidro, Jestoni Alarcon and Cherie Gil.

Enrique Gil trades love advice with ‘Muling Buksan Ang Puso’ co-star Julia Montes

During the cast pictorial of Muling Buksan Ang Puso, Enrique Gil shared that his first taping day with onscreen partner Julia Montes was fun because they had the chance to trade love advice along with co-star Jane Oineza. It was their way of bonding with each other on the set in between takes. “Nakapag-heart-to-heart talk kami. Nag-hot seat kami just to get to know each other. Minsan ‘pag may heartbroken diyan, [yung advice na sinabi ko] huwag ka magpapaka-sad sa isang bagay kung sa tingin mo hindi worth it in in the long run. May choice ka eh whether maging happy or sad. Minsan kasi ang babae masyadong emotional, super hurt kaya nahihirapan mag move on. So para sa akin gusto mo ba yun na hindi ka masaya? Kung may relationship ka dapat masaya ka lagi,” he said in a one-on-one interview with Push.com.ph. On his part, Enrique shared that it’s one of the reasons why he prefers to stay single because a romantic relationship takes a lot of effort. “So may nagtatanong bakit wala akong girlfriend. Sabi ko wala talaga akong time. Kailangan ng oras. Kapag wala kang oras para sa girlfriend mo, hindi naman pwede yun. Gusto ko nandun ako para sa girlfriend ko.” Based on their exchange, the actor said that he realized that girls would always be unpredictable for him. “Basta para sa akin iba talaga mga babae. Hindi mo sila matitimpla. Feeling namin alam na namin, yun pala minsan iba pa rin naiisip nila.” Such heart-to-heart talks helped establish rapport between Julia and Enrique who were once paired in the movie The Reunion. “Okay naman kami dun. Iba din talaga ito kasi mas matagal. Ngayon hindi pa namin alam kasi nag-start pa lang kami. Tignan natin ‘pag pabigat na kung ano yung mangyayari sa tandem namin. May konting awkwardness lang. Pero okay yun eh, kasi ‘pag walang awkwardness hindi nakakakilig. Kapag may ganon, may something. Yun ang gusto ko.” In the story, he plays Francis dela Vega, a high school student who grew up in the States, but will later come home to his affluent family in the province. “Anak ako ni Ms. Agot Isidro at grandson ni Susan Roces. Yung character ko seryoso na pagwapo na may angas na ‘di naman sinasadya kasi laking America lang, feeling Am-boy, yung nakakaasar. Kailangan ng effort para mapangiti si Francis. Pagbalik niya ng Philippines, dun niya makikilala si Julia.” Dubbed as the next ultimate leading man, Enrique feels grateful that he was entrusted with another big project after Princess and I, adding that his long wait for a big break was worth it. “Solid, sobrang salamat. I want to do my best para makita nila tama tayo, no regrets. Gusto ko maging maganda story namin at effective yung characters namin. Kailangan ma-touch natin ang viewers, sana yun ang mangyari.”

Will Enrique Gil show a sexier image in new series with Julia Montes?

After performing his version of PSY’s newest single “Gentleman” during Vice Ganda’s sold-out concert last Friday, May 17, Enrique Gil definitely proved he had not just acting talent but hot dance moves as well as shown by the cheers he got from the crowd and from Vice himself. The 21-year-old actor admitted he got a bit nervous after seeing a jam-packed Araneta Coliseum from the backstage. “Nung una kinakabahan talaga ako, sobrang daming tao tapos ako lang pero nung narinig ko na yung sigawan ng tao parang okay enjoy na ito. Lalo na nung dumating si Vice sa dulo siguro yun na yung pinaka-cream on the top, yung mga okrayan moments namin, as in lahat ng tao sobrang enjoy kaya na-enjoy na rin ako,” he said. Quen, as he is fondly called by friends, felt honored to be part of Vice Ganda’s elite guest list which also included Daniel Padilla, Regine Velasquez, Dawn Zulueta, and Ai-Ai De las Alas. He also shared his message for the top comedian. “Vice, sobrang congratulations sa ‘yo. Alam mong nandito ako lagi para sayo, sa next concert mo for sure dapat kasama ako diyan. Good luck sa career mo, matagal ka pa dito at saka yung number one gift na nabibigay mo sa tao, laughter, importanteng importante yun. Ipagpatuloy mo yan,” he shared. Currently working on the upcoming soap opera Muling Buksan Ang Puso with Julia Montes, Quen said he is ready if ever the role would require him to show off a sexier side. “Hindi pa sa alam ko. May mga ibang sexy scenes din ata, yung tipong nag-si-swimming, mga ganun. I don’t know kung more than that pa. Actually yung script kasi hindi pa namin nababasa. Next week pa gagawin lahat so pag nalaman ko, pag sexy na, babalitaan ko kayo,” he said. But when it comes to going sexy, the Kapamilya heartthrob said he wants to take things slow. “Medyo, medyo lang. Hindi pa naman sobra pero slowly but slowly. Okay lang pero ewan ko, siguro, I don’t know. Depende naman yan sa ABS-CBN. Mag-uusap kami pero sa ngayon daw sabi nila na slowly by slowly so unti-unti lang,” he admitted.
