'Got to Believe' says sorry for telecast glitch

Primetime series halts Friday broadcast, to re-air episode MANILA -- "Got to Believe" fans took to Twitter to vent their anger Friday night after the blockbuster primetime series failed to air the scheduled episode in its entirety due to technical difficulties. The September 27 telecast of "Got to Believe," which was to feature Joaquin (Daniel Padilla) and Chichay's (Kathryn Bernardo) first day attending the same school, aired a full segment before reaching its first commercial gap. The show failed to resume, however, with the commercial gap extending for about 30 minutes before leading in to "Muling Buksan ang Puso," the drama series that airs after "Got to Believe." During the telecast of "Muling Buksan ang Puso," a programming advisory appeared on screen, announcing that the September 27 episode of "Got to Believe" will be aired in full on Monday, September 30. The advisory read: "Dahil sa technical difficulties, sa Lunes na mapapanood ang buong episode ng 'Got to Believe.'" On Twitter, the official account of the ABS-CBN program reiterated the advisory flashed on TV, and apologized for the interrupted telecast. The tweet came a full hour after fans of the show expressed their disappointment on the micro-blogging site, which pushed the hashtags "GottoBelive" and "G2BFirstDayHigh" to the top trending topics locally, ranking No. 1 at different times. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina, "Got to Believe" airs weeknights after "Juan dela Cruz" during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.

As part of the hit Primetime Bida series Got to Believe, Benjie Paras admitted he is enjoying his newest role as Chito Tampipi, loving father to Kathryn Bernardo’s character Chichay, who works and lives in a carnival. The series revolves around the love story between Kathryn’s and Daniel Padilla’s characters who continually cross paths at different stages of their lives. The former basketball player-turned-actor admitted he feels lucky to be part of such a good cast. “Asawa ko dito si Manilyn Reynes and anak namin si Kathryn and lumaki siya sa perya and dito nagsimula lahat, dito niya na-meet si Daniel at dito lahat na-reveal kung ano yung buhay sa bawat isa sa amin,” he shared. Benjie admitted he was especially impressed by working with teen actress Kathryn. “Masaya lang dahil unang una masaya siya katrabaho, magaan, very professional at magaling na bata,” he told Push.com. Benjie also admitted it feels good to be back at ABS-CBN after more than a decade doing projects in other networks. “Mabuti naman ako dahil I think it was year 2000 nung nagtrabaho ako dito sa ABS-CBN and ngayon lang ako nakagawa ulit ng teleserye,” he said. When it comes to his personal life, Benjie said he would rather not comment on the ongoing issue between his ex-wife Jackie Forster and their two sons Kobe and Andre. Benjie said things have settled down and his family life is peaceful right now. “Sa ngayon kasi pag nag-comment ako hindi matatapos. So I'd rather not comment, yun lang. Okay naman. So far okay naman kaming lahat,” he said. When asked to comment about his friend Raymart Santiago's current marital problems, the Got to Believe actor said he hopes his friend will keep strong even though they do not discuss personal issues. “Sa ngayon hindi, never pa kaming nagkakausap although meron lang siyang mga tinatanong sa akin. Meron siyang kailangan tungkol sa business pero aside from that wala na. Dati naman kaming magkasama noon dahil may show kami dati and then pag merong mga kainan, nagkakasama sama kami. Sa tingin ko naman lahat naman tayo, yung pagsubok hindi naman darating sa atin yan kung hindi natin kaya,” he said. As for the Temporary Protection Order (TPO) filed against Raymart by Claudine Barretto, Benjie admitted he finds it hard to believe his friend has done anything to merit such an action. “Well, sa tagal kong kilala sila, sa tagal kong kakilala si Raymart, parang hindi naman yata kayang gawin ni Raymart yun,” he said.

Miles expressed her excitement about the fun run activity and shared that it was her first three-kilometer run. “Super excited po ako kasi sa teaser pa lang ang saya-saya niya paano pa kaya pag sa run na so excited po kami,” she said before the run. She shared that she is not sporty but she wants to test her capability. “Kumbaga ito ‘yung first na fun run na sasalihan ko so gusto kong malaman kung kaya ko ba siya,” she stated. Just like her friend, Miles is also pursuing her studies while acting. She’s presently taking up a short course. “Actually I’m having my short course lang pero next year ako magu-university. I’ll take theater.” On how she manages to balance acting and schooling, the former Luv U star said that she’s gotten used to it since she’s been doing it since she was young. “Actually simula bata pa ako sa regular school na ako [while acting] at ayaw ko ng home study kasi parang nakakatamad at masaya po kasi may mga classmates, na nai-experience ng normal na tao,” she shared.

How Cathy Garcia-Molina is tackling 'Kathniel' tandem

MANILA -- With "teen royalties" in the lead roles and a box-office film director "specializing" in romantic-comedies at the helm, ABS-CBN's upcoming series "Got to Believe" appears to have all the makings of a primetime hit. As early as its first announcement in June, the new "kilig-serye" prominently tagged in its promotions Cathy Garcia-Molina as director. Even its title card features her name. For her first TV project in five years, Molina is directing arguably the most popular "love team" of their generation, Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, in their second TV series as lead stars. In "Got to Believe," the on-screen couple portray childhood friends from different backgrounds -- Chichay (Bernardo) is a girl with big dreams for her tight-knit family, while Joaquin (Padilla) is a rich but lonely boy with parents on the verge of separating. While they become close as kids, the two part ways when Joaquin is hit by a stray bullet to the head. But as fate would have it, the two as teens literally bump into each other at the same place they first met. During the grand press conference for "Got to Believe" held recently, Molina admitted having "no knowledge" of the tandem referred to as "Kathniel" by their fans, and so had little clue as to how to harness the pair's potential for "kilig." 'Organic' approach In recent years, Molina has become known as a "box-office director" for the juggernaut successes of romantic films like "One More Chance," "My Amnesia Girl," "Unofficially Yours," and the trilogy of movies starring John Lloyd Cruz and Sarah Geronimo. At the time Bernardo and Padilla's "Princess and I" was airing in early 2013, Molina pointed out that she was still filming "It Takes a Man and a Woman," in explaining why she has little awarness about the "Kathniel" tandem. Director Cathy Garcia-Molina (foreground, in stripes) works for the first time with Daniel Padilla (on screen, in black) and Kathryn Bernardo (not in photo) in 'Got to Believe.' Photo from the series' official Facebook page "Please don't take this negatively. Hindi ko po talaga alam. Wala po akong alam kung ano ang kilig na ino-offer ng Daniel at Kathryn," Molina said. The director added, however, that this may be to her advantage, "kasi ang libre ko na gawin kahit ano." She went on to explain her "organic" approach in directing her actors, saying she observes the natural interaction between them off-camera and translates this on-screen without compromising the script. "What I see on the set, I'll make do with what is there. So kung ano ang mabigay ng dalawa kong artista, I will just enhance it. Kung ano ang script na naibigay ng creative, nagdadagdag lang ako ng kaunting akin," she said. Addressing the likely comparison between her lead stars' characters in "Princess and I" and "Got to Believe," Molina continued, "Always, naniniwala ako, ibang tao, ibang klaseng kilig. Ibang characters, ibang kwento, so I don't think it will ever be the same." "Maybe paminsan-minsan, pero Daniel and Kathryn, Mikay and Gino are very different from Chichay and Joaquin. So defniitely, it will be a different kind of kilig," she said. Molina is an expert of sorts in bringing "kilig" on-screen, as the director herself pointed out in expressing her excitement with helming a romantic-comedy series. "Ito, medyo turf ko 'to, eh, rom-com. Natutuwa ako na isalin sa telebisyon 'yung rom-com feel na medyo alam ko ginagalawan ko, so excited ako," she said. Measuring 'success' Asked if she feels pressured about making "Got to Believe" a ratings success, considering her string of accomplishments as a movie director, Molina laughed as she related she had entertained thoughts of ending her career on a high note. 'Got To Believe' director Cathy Garcia-Molina. Photo: Handout "'Diba naman po, sa industriyang ito, you are only as good as your last, so no matter how many films I have done na medyo tinangkilik ninyo, lagi akong takot. "Because alam ko, pag nagkamali ako sa huling project ko, 'yung ang masa maiiwan sa tao. So syempre takot ako. I'm nearing 42. Ayoko sanang mag-retire, but if one project fails, baka hindi niyo na ako makita uli," she said. "So that fear is always there," she said. Admitting box-office draw and TV viewership are factors in measuring her own success as a director, Molina said she earns greater satisfaction when her works are appreciated not by the number they turn in, but by their emotional impact on the audience. "Lagi ko nalang iniisip, 'Okay lang, okay lang na hindi masyado kumita, okay lang na hindi masyado mag-rate, pero sana magandahan sila.' Kasi minsan 'diba hindi nagta-transalte 'yung good feedback to numbers, so ako, okay lang na hindi masyado mag-translate, for as long as very positive yung feedback. "'Yung sasabihin sa aking, 'Direk, nawala stress ko.' 'Direk, nagbalikan kami ng boyfriend ko dahil sa pelikula mo.' 'Direk, 'yung sakit ko nawawala, you alleviate my pain.' "It's never commensurate to box-office returns," she said. She added: "Always, mas malaki 'yung binibigay sa akin na may ganoon palang effect 'yung mga pelikula't kwento ko. Okay na po ako doon. So 'yung takot ko, natatabunan ng kagustuhan kong makapagpasaya ng mga tao." Joining Bernardo and Padilla in the cast of "Got to Believe" are Carmina Villaroel, Ian Veneracion, Manilyn Reynes and Benjie Paras. The series will premiere on August 26, Monday, after "Juan dela Cruz" during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.

Why the Kathryn-Daniel love team clicks

MANILA – Teen stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo believe their contradicting personalities is a key factor to their successful onscreen partnership. In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, the two agreed that they are quite different from each other and that this helped boost their love team. “Magkaiba kami ni Kathyrn ng ugali, sa pag-iisip, kung ano ang kailangan gawin. Ako magulo, siya maayos. Kaya parang dahil sobrang magkaiba, nagiging compatible na,” said Padilla. As for Bernardo, she said: “Kasi marami talaga kaming difference ni DJ, sa damit and sa ugali. Feeling ko naba-balance namin ang isa’t isa. Feeling ko 'yun ang isa sa mga reason kung bakit nag-work.” Having been paired with each other for three years now, both said they are still overwhelmed by the success of their partnership. Thus, Bernardo said she is extremely grateful because they have been given the chance to grow with each other. “Before, importante na sa akin ang craft na ito. Pero ngayon mas na-appreciate ko siya. Mas alam ko na kung gaano kaimportante. Nag-grow kaming dalawa. 'Yung KathNiel noon, hindi naman laro pero hindi pa kami ganoon ka-focused,” she said. Asked why he likes working with Bernardo, Padilla said: “Kasi parang katrabaho mo 'yung kaibigan mo na lang. Parang kunyari kaibigan mong lalaki, tapos nagtrabaho kayong sabay. 'Yung feeling na 'yun na komportableng komportable, 'yun ang nararamdaman ko kay Kathryn.” Back in February, Padilla revealed that he and Bernardo already have a “mutual understanding.” Asked if this has prospered through time, Bernardo said: “Nandito kami sa stage na ine-enjoy namin ang isa’t siya. Maybe 7 or 7.5 [in a scale of 1 to 10] kasi kapag sinabi kong 9, siguro kapag ikakasal age. Kapag 8, kapag kami na. So 7 kasi ine-enjoy pa namin isa’t isa.” Bernardo said she enjoys being with Padilla too and she is willing to discover new things with the actor. Bernardo and Padilla will be seen on primetime television anew with their newest series “Got To Believe” set to air its pilot episode on Monday.

Okay kasi lahat sila, talagang tumutulong para mapagsabay ko 'yung school ko with my work. Asked how she feels considering that she does not have a lot of free time, Bernardo said: “Everything naman comes with a sacrifice. Hindi naman ako magimik,” she said.

Kathryn speaks up on soap's postponement

MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Kathryn Bernardo stressed she has no-ill feelings over the postponement of her upcoming series "Got To Believe" with leading man Daniel Padilla. "Wala po (sama ng loob) wala po talaga," Bernardo told reporters on Thursday during the launching of her newest endorsement, Juicy cologne. "Sabi ko nga parang wala namang sinabi sa amin na reason. Pero for me, I think binigyan lang kami ng longer time para mas mapaganda 'yung project at magka-bangko kami kasi hindi pa masyado 'yung nate-taping namin and I think 'yung management alam nila 'yung right time kung kailan talaga kami pwedeng ipasok pero I think very soon po," Bernardo explained. Asked of Padilla's reaction over the postponment, Bernardo said: "Yung reaction niya? Wala kasi management decision 'yon at ire-respect mo naman yon." The young actress vowed that with the time given to them, they will give their best to make a really good soap. "Basta mapa-promise namin sa kanila na ngayon na mas, as in ginagandahan namin. Actually ang atake ng 'Got To Believe' parang movie na. Kasi with Direk Cathy (Garcia-Molina) as in maraming shot sa isang sequence. Tapos 'yung story very unique, something new talaga at ito 'yung super nae-excite ka every taping kasi nae-enjoy mo 'yung character mo," she said. In the interview, Bernardo also stressed that she sees nothing wrong that "Muling Buksan Ang Puso," the hit soap of her friend Julia Montes was first to premiere. "For now okay din siguro na sila Julia muna. Sa right time ay kami naman ang papasok," she said. ABS-CBN has confirmed that it has postponed the airing of the newest soap of Bernardo and Padilla, but stressed that it is not because it is disappointed with the program. Bong Osorio, head of ABS-CBN's integrated corporate communications division, said the Kapamilya network has decided to delay the airing of "Got to Believe" until enough episodes are canned. He maintained that ABS-CBN "is just as excited as the viewing public for the airing of 'Got to Believe.'" Currently, Bernardo is juggling her time as actress and as a student. Kathryn, Daniel find 'magic' in 'Got to Believe' trailer

MANILA, Philippines -- Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla return with their second major team-up on television as a simple girl with big dreams and a rich boy from a broken family. Aired Friday during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block, the first trailer for "Got to Believe" traces the childhood of the characters portrayed by the well-loved tandem dubbed "Kathniel" by their fans. As children, Chichay (Bernardo) and Joaquin (Padilla) form an unlikely friendship when he stumbles upon a circus where the high-spirited girl works along with her parents (Manilyn Reynes, Benjie Paras). Coming from a family caught in conflict, with parents (Carmina Villaroel, Ian Veneracion) on the verge of separation, Joaquin finds comfort and happiness in Chichay's world. The children's relationship grows with their shared fascination for "magic," as progress seems made between Joaquin's parents when they arrive together at the circus seemingly at Chichay's will. Tragedy strikes, however, when a stray bullet hits Joaquin in the head amid high spirits during New Year festivities. While the boy survives, he grows up to live with the bullet not removed from the "silent spot" it was lodged in. The accident cuts short the friendship between Chichay and Joaquin, but as fate would have it, the two, as teenagers, literally bump into each other at the same place they first met. Set for a July premiere, "Got To Believe" will be part of a Primetime Bida line-up alongside the Judy Ann Santos comeback soap "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," the Coco Martin-starrer "Juan dela Cruz," and another upcoming series starring Julia Montes, "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala." The two new programs are expected to replace the Angelica Panganiban drama "Apoy sa Dagat" and the South Korean series "Missing You," which are both on their last week on air. Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina ("One More Chance," "It Takes a Man and a Woman"), "Got to Believe" is seen as the follow-up to Padilla and Bernardo's first "teleserye" success as a tandem, "Princess and I."

Miles Ocampo has no rivalry issues with Julia Montes and Kathryn Bernardo

Despite their busy schedules, Miles Ocampo shared that she has remained good friends with former Goin' Bulilit batch mates Kathryn Bernardo and Julia Montes. In fact, they recently made up for lost time over a surprise birthday dinner for her. "Sinurprise nila ako last Thursday dahil birthday ko. Sabi ni mama may pupuntahan lang kami na friends niya sa The Fort. Pagdating dun nagulat ako sila Kat at Julia pala mga nandun. Nakakatuwa kasi lalo na sila kahit super busy sila, naghahanap sila ng time para magkita-kita kaming tatlo. Kung hindi naman kami nagkikita lagi kami magkausap sa phone," said Miles in an interview with Push.com.ph held at the soft launch of I Love Klinec Nail and Body Spa on Kamuning Road, Friday, May 3. Of all her celebrity friends, Miles said that Kathryn and Julia are the ones who know her well. "Siguro kasi gaya ng sinasabi naming tatlo, dun lang kami sa Goin' Bulilit nagkasama pero yung closeness namin iba. Kung anong nararamdaman ng isa, kahit hindi ka magsalita mahahalata nila. Sabi namin, 'Ganon na ba natin kakilala ang isa't isa?’ Oo, super pinagkakatiwalaan ko sila, halos sila nakakaalam ng lahat ng secrets ko." As they carve out their respective niches in the industry, Miles claimed that they never got jealous of each other's personal achievements. For one thing, Julia pursued bolder roles, Kathryn established a successful love team with Daniel Padilla while Miles continued to do more teenybopper roles. Magkakasunod kasi age namin--16, 17, 18 years old." When asked about the career plans that the ABS-CBN management has prepared for her, Miles maintained that she's just grateful for all the opportunities that they throw her way. "Wala po talaga akong alam talaga. Simula nung nag Goin' Bulilit ako, super thankful ako kasi pagka-graduate ko 'di ako dumaan sa awkward stage. Kasi 'di ba 'pag ganyan matagal ka mapapahinga or yung iba 'di nakakabalik. Kaya ang sarap sa feeling na 'di ko naranasan yung naranasan ng iba na super nahirapan talaga. So super thankful ako sa binibigay nilang roles sumasakto sa akin."

Kathryn Bernardo regrets delaying studies

MANILA – While she appreciates all the blessings she now enjoys, actress Kathryn Bernardo regrets that her studies had to take the back seat because of her very busy showbiz schedule. In an interview with entertainment website Push.com.ph, Bernardo revealed that she is currently enrolled in the home school program of Angelicum College. “Hinayang talaga. Pero wala, kapalit naman siguro ito nung kung anong meron ako ngayon so okay lang din basta goal ko tapusin ko na talaga ito,” she admitted. Depite this, Bernardo vowed to do her best as it is her dream to finish college. “Parang one year lang naman ako nawala, before nagsu-school naman talaga ako regular schooling. Siguro nahirapan lang ako mag-adjust sa home schooling kasi iba siya eh at saka ang hirap ibang school na rin ako, iba na 'yung mga kasama ko dun. So hindi rin ganun kadali mag-adjust pero yun na lang kasi 'yung way para makatapos ako eh,” she said. Bernardo said she intends to finish all her modules by the end of the month so she could take up fashion design in college. “Kapag natapos ko na siya, baka mag-apply na ako for School of Fashion and the Arts (SoFA) or any fashion school or College of St. Benilde (CSB) mag-ta-try din ako, kung kakayanin. Gusto ko talaga advertising,” she said. Aside from fashion design, Bernardo is also keen in getting a degree in advertising. “Gusto ko talaga mag-CSB kasi advertising gusto ko pero kung hindi na kakayanin ng schedule, sinasabi nilang lahat na mahihirapan ako, so parang mag-SoFa muna ako or fashion design school muna. Para wala ng masayang na time. Pero ewan ko, mag-i-inquire pa lang din ako pag naayos ko na lahat. Basta ngayon tinatapos ko lang muna school ko,” she shared. In recent months, Bernardo worked on a couple of movies on top of her series “Princess and I.”

"Nagkasama din kami sa 'Mangarap Ka,' tapos doon sa 'Goin' Bulilit' nag-start 'yung friendship namin. Tapos nagtuloy-tuloy na siya. Kahit hindi pa kami nagkakasama sa isang project eh close kami talaga," Bernardo added. How close? The two teeners said they can be very honest to each other and can bluntly say if they like or dislike something. "Kapag sa 'ASAP,' for example, nag-perform ako doon, sasabihin niya, 'Te ang galing mo doon.' Ako makakampante na ako na, yes, ibig sabihin okay ang ginawa ko," Bernardo explained. "Sa amin hindi po uso ang utuan, 'yung tipong maganda ka diyan, kahit hindi. Dapat po 'yung totoo talaga para may trust siya sa iyo, hindi ba po?" Ocampo added. The two girls said they enjoy spending time together and visit each other at work when they both find themselves at ABS-CBN. They also believe that constant communication is key to to their strong friendship. Although Bernardo has emerged to become one of the hottest young stars today, Ocampo stressed that the "Princess and I" star has not been affected by fame. "Wala pong pagbabago. 'Yun po ang maganda sa kanya kung sino siya dati, kung ano ang relationship namin dati ay hindi siya nagbago," Ocampo told "KrisTV" host Kris Aquino. The two girls said they hope they could travel abroad together in the future. Love topic In the interview, Ocampo also admitted that she did notices some changes when Bernardo became closer to her leading man, Daniel Padilla. "Parang 'yung pinag-uusapan naming topic ay iba na, parang matured na talaga. Kasi same age kami, so same kami ng pinagdadaanan," Ocampo said. For Bernardo, who's a little bit older than Ocampo, said she always reminds her friend to find someone who will love her more than she will love him. "Sayang kasi si Miles. Kaya kung sino man ang darating na guy para kay Miles ay masasabi kong pwede talaga kay Miles. So gusto ko lang ma-meet at makita kung talagang nag-e-effort ang guy for Miles or kahit kaninong girl, kung talaga bang sincere," Bernardo said. Ocampo is now being linked to her "LUV U" leading man Marco Gumabao.
