MANILA, Philippines -- Marian Rivera expressed support for her film co-star Ai Ai delas Alas, who recently admitted her separation from husband Jed Salang.
"Palagi kong ka-text si Ate Ai," Rivera said at the the sidelines of fashion event Style Origin at Glorietta Mall in Makati City on Thursday.
"Alam naman niya na kahit anong mangyari, na sa likod niya kami nila Direk Onat [Diaz], so wala, [prayers] lang talaga 'yung maibibigay [ko]," she said.
Rivera and delas Alas recently finished filming for the action-comedy flick "Kung Fu Divas," which is directed by Diaz.
Last Sunday, an emotional delas Alas admitted in a taped interview on "The Buzz" that she and Salang, her husband of one month, broke up after he allegedly physically abused her.
Rivera said she was surprised by the separation, "kasi ang saya-saya namin sa shooting, nakikita ko 'yung lalaki, pero siguro ganoon talaga. Mahirap din magsalita at mag-judge ng isang tao."
She added: "Ang importante, alam ni Ate Ai na marami siyang mga kaibigan na nasa likod niya."
Following delas Alas' televised confession of the break-up, the award-winning comedienne received an outpouring of support, most recently from ABS-CBN president and chief executive officer Charo Santos-Concio, among others.
