MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Kim Chiu believes that the most important thing she received from her mother, Louella Yap Chiu, was her strong Catholic faith.
In a taped appearance for the morning show "KrisTV" that aired on Monday, Chiu joined host Kris Aquino in a trip to Pangasinan where they visited the Shrine of Our Lady of Manaoag.
"Ako ang lagi niyang kasama (magsimba)," recallled Chiu. "Ilang beses na akong pumunta ng Manaoag. I always go there kapag may time. Hindi naman lahat, pero halos lahat ay natutupad. Kapag natupad siya bumabalik ako doon to say thanks, to light a candle and to offer mass."
Early on in the show, Aquino also expressed her support to Chiu and her family for the passing of their mother, who died last week reportedly due to aneurysm.
"Sa panahong sinusubok ang kanyang katatagan, kaisa ako, ang aking pamilya at ang aking 'KrisTV' sa pakikiramay sa pagpanaw ng kanyang inang si Louella Yap Chiu. Matagal nawalay si Kim kay Louella pero bago siya tuluyang magpaalam, nagkaroon ng pagkakataon si Kim na makasama ang kanyang ina," Aquino said.
Last week, a grieving Chiu faced allegations that she never cared for her ailing mother, although her father and siblings quickly defended the actress from such attacks.
Mrs. Chiu was laid to rest Saturday morning in their native Cebu.
