MANILA – Actor Piolo Pascual would not mind temporarily leaving his career in the Philippines if given a chance to work on a project outside the country.
“Pero siguro hindi naman forever kang aalis. Doon lang sa pagkakataon na iyon. If there’s a chance to do something outside, sa tenure lang na iyon [aalis] and then babalik ulit,” Pascual told “The Buzz” host Boy Abunda on Sunday.
The topic was brought up after Abunda hypothetically asked Pascual if he also wants to pursue an international career after his film “On The Job” (OTJ) received raves at the recent Cannes International Film Festival.
The crime thriller, which also stars Gerald Anderson, received a standing ovation during its screening in Cannes.
The Erik Matti-directed film was among the selections of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs or the Directors' Fortnight, a section at Cannes held independently by the French Directors Guild.
In "OTJ," Pascual portrays a National Bureau of Investigation agent whose job puts him at odds with his wife (Shaina Magdayao). Anderson, meanwhile, takes on the role of a "hitman" on the run.
However, Pascual stressed that there is no offer for him to do any projects outside the country contrary to rumors.
New inspiration?
Meanwhile, Pascual shared where he currently draws inspiration.
“Nandito ang anak ko. Kasama ko siya every day. Ito lang ang time namin together kapag summer sa States. Para ko siyang anino. Kasama ko siya kahit saan, nagkakahiwalay lang kami kapag nasa banyo kami,” he said.
Saying he is not in a relationship at the moment, Pascual said he is more than happy to spend all of his free time with his son.
“Talagang I’m excited spending time with him kasi iba ang bonding time ng mag-ama. I really treasure that, I value that,” he said.
Pascual’s last relationship was with actress KC Concepcion.
While he has remained single since he and Concepcion broke up, Pascual has been linked to actress Shaina Magdayao, although both have denied reports of a blossoming romance.
