MANILA, Philippines -- As she prepares for her first leading role on television, Julia Barretto said she hopes to follow in the career path of her aunt, actress Claudine Barretto.
Julia, who will star in ABS-CBN's upcoming soap "Cofradia," was all praises for Claudine's acting prowess.
Claudine, a former Kapamilya star, has scored lead roles in a number of shows on ABS-CBN before moving to a rival network.
"I would like to follow the career path of my Tita Claudine. Kasi sobrang ganda ng teleseryes niya, 'yung movies niya. Sobrang fan ako ni Tita Claudine ko. Sobrang galing," Julia said.
"Cofradia" was offered to Julia amid the controversy including her mother, Marjorie, and aunts Gretchen and Claudine.
Claudine was involved in a feud with her other celebrity sisters, Gretchen and Marjorie, who both allegedly accused her of sabotaging Julia's career.
Julia was recently introduced as an artist of Star Magic, the ABS-CBN talent management firm that launched Claudine to stardom until her transfer to another network in 2009.
Julia said she wants her mom, aunties and grandmother Inday to fix their differences.
"I want everything to be OK and calm between 'yung mga magkakapatid and mag-ina. Sila na muna. Hindi talaga ako nakikialam, ayaw ko, hindi ko 'yon problema. It's not for me to fix, to talk about. Sa kanila na 'yon, [basta] ang saya-saya ko [sa bago kong project]," she said.
Asked to choose between Claudine and Gretchen when it comes to being a "better actress," Julia said: "Super fan ako ng dalawa. Iba ang style ng pag-arte nila at iba din ang nabibigay na role sa kanila. Tita Gretchen, more of contravida, si Tita Claudine more of the good girl. Hindi ko pa nakikita masyado na si Tita Gretchen mag-good girl at si Tita Claudine na magkontrabida. Pareho ko silang idol. Pareho silang magaling, super fan ako at dream ko nga na makatrabaho sila," she said.
