Deniesse Aguilar on working with Baron Geisler: ‘Takot ako sa kanya nung una’

102213-Deniesse_Main.jpg

As part of the new batch of hosts in I Dare You, former Pinoy Big Brother housemate Deniesse Aguilar admitted she was nervous when she first found out that she would be working in a challenge with controversial actor Baron Geisler. The two trained for a month to become volunteer firefighters under TextFire Philippines for the show which gave Deniesse a chance to get to know their celebrity guest better. Deniesse, who joined Pinoy Big Brother in the same batch as Slater Young, said she is still feeling overwhelmed at being asked to host I Dare You along with Robi Domingo, John Prats, and Melai Cantiveros. Nag-grow ako as a person so dun ako very thankful sa kanila. Natutuwa talaga ako na binigyan ako ng opportunity kasi wala naman akong experience. Tinapat agad ako dun sa mga marurunong na gaya ni Robi, si kuya John and si Ate Melai na maboka at alam naman natin yung kapasidad niya, magaling siya,” she admitted. Although she was first known in showbiz as Deniesse Joaquin, the pretty host explained the reason for changing her screen name to Aguilar.

Claudine on Raymart: Never getting back together

Actress slaps perjury case vs husband, lawyers MANILA -- Claudine Barretto was quick to respond when asked if there is any chance she and Raymart Santiago will get back together, amid the former couple's escalating legal tiff. "Hindi na, okay na 'yon, huwag na," the 34-year-old actress said on Wednesday, explaining she and her children have supposedly gotten used to Santiago's absence. The couple's 9-year-old daughter, Sabina, is currently in the hospital due to high fever. But according to Barretto, her eldest child hasn't asked for her father since she was confined. "Hindi [na niya hinahanap], hindi. Sanay na," Barretto said. Even if Santiago wished to visit Sabina, the actress added, he wouldn't be allowed, citing the temporary protection order (TPO) granted to her against the 40-year-old actor by the Marikina Regional Trial Court (RTC). "Pangalawa," Barretto said, "huwag na tayo mag-plastikan. Hindi naman talaga siya gano'n, 'yun lang 'yon." Asked if she regrets no longer raising her two children with Santiago, the actress said, "Pag sanay kang ikaw nang ikaw, mas makakahinga ka na nang mas maayos." 3rd case The celebrity couple's separation early this year, Barretto has claimed, stems from the alleged "physical, sexual, psychological and economic" she suffered from Santiago supposedly since 2002. Santiago has repeatedly denied these allegations, and expressed confidence the truth will come out even as Barretto filed the TPO against him in July, and a case for his alleged violation of the Anti-Violence against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 in late August. On Wednesday, Barretto filed yet another case against her husband, this time for perjury. According to the actress' legal counsel, Atty. Ginger Castillo, Santiago's camp supposedly lied in a sworn statement in August. "According to them, there is no other case pending when they filed their habeas corpus and they knew at the time there was the TPO case," Castillo said, adding Santiago's lawyers are also respondents in the case. Responding to the allegation, the actor's legal counsel, Atty. Ruth Castillo explained they had yet to receive a copy of the TPO petition when they made the sworn statement. Santiago, meantime, refused to give a long comment, only saying, "Nagiging circus lang, eh. Pabayaan mo na siyang (Barretto) magsalita." Coping Claudine Asked how she is coping given the successive complaints she has failed against her husband, Barretto said, "Through prayers lang talaga." "When you're really pushed to the wall talaga, wala ka nang ibang magagawa kundi magpakatatag. Maraming taong sumusuporta, nagmamahal, nagdadasal para sa akin, and I think that's what's most important. Maraming taong nagmamahal sa amin ng mga anak ko," she said. Barretto also shrugged off her detractors, saying her only goal is to ensure the welfare of her children. "Sa mga tao na hindi nakakatulong at nakakadagdag lang ng problema, hindi ko nalang sila iniinda, hindi ko nalang sila pinapansin. Hayaan nalang natin. "I'm not out to please everybody, I'm just trying to protect my children. 'Yun lang naman talaga 'yon eh. And sana, 'yung mga dumadagdag sa gulo, they'll just leave me in peace," she said.

Piolo-Claudine reunion film in the works

MANILA -- A new film starring former "love team" Piolo Pascual and Claudine Barretto is in the works, the actress' camp said, as she remains embroiled in a legal feud involving her family. According to her legal counsel, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, Barretto is gearing up for her first co-starring project with Pascual since 2004, when their last film together, "Milan," was released. "I believe may movie siya with Piolo Pascual. Kausap ko si Boss Vic (del Rosario, Viva Films founder) eh... Actually Boss Vic wants me to fix everything para makapag-shooting na sila," the lawyer told ABS-CBN News on Thursday, referring to the actress' court battle with husband Raymart Santiago. The 34-year-old Barretto, who first announced her back-to-back film projects in July, is under the management of del Rosario's Viva Artists Agency. According to the actress, both her comeback movies will be under Viva Films. One of them, she added, will be a co-production with ABS-CBN's film arm, Star Cinema. Pascual, who is an exclusive talent of ABS-CBN, on Friday expressed excitement over working anew with Barretto. He is unsure, however, when the project will start, saying it is up to the management of Star Cinema. "Si Tita Malou (Santos, Star Cinema Managing Director) lang makakasagot no'n, but of course Clau has been a good friend of mine and I hope one of these days, pag nagtugma na 'yung [schedule] namin, magawa namin. I'm very excited for it. "Clau will always be one of the closest friends in showbiz na talagang tumulong sa akin and anytime," the 36-year-old actor told ABS-CBN News shortly after a bloggers conference for his upcoming film, "OTJ." While Pascual brought up factors which may determine whether the project will push through, he said he is more than willing to co-star with Barretto again. "Depende sa schedule namin, depende sa schedule niya, depende kay Tita Malou. But yeah, of course sabi ko kay Tita Malou, 'Oo naman,'" said Pascual, who is currently filming a Star Cinema movie with actress Toni Gonzaga and director Olivia Lamasan. Asked if he is still in touch with Barretto, Pascual said, "Wala pa lately. Barretto and Santiago are in a custody battle over their two children, after the actress accused her husband of "physical, verbal, psychological, and even economical" abuse. Of the controversial tiff between the couple, Pascual said, "Syempre prayers lang. Lahat naman nadadaan sa dasal. But I don't think I'm in the position to comment about it.

Raymart barred from seeing kids, Claudine

MANILA -- Raymart Santiago and Claudine Barretto met for the first time in court on Wednesday in relation to a protection order filed by the actress against her husband in late July. Both camps met at the Marikina Regional Trial Court, where Barretto is now seeking to make permanent the temporary protection (TPO) order she had sought against Santiago on behalf of her and their two children. The TPO, which was granted early this week, restricts Santiago "from inflicting physical, psychological and mental abuse to Claudine and the kids." Under the order, the actor is also prohibited from being within 300 meters of Barretto, their children, their residence, and the children's schools. Santiago is also restricted from communicating with his wife, both their kids, and their household help. The same order likewise prohibits Santiago "or anyone under his direction" from speaking about Barretto or the case to the media. The TPO stems from Santiago's alleged "physical, verbal, psychological, and even economical" abuse towards Barretto, which the actor denied. The couple was married in March 2006. They have two children -- an adopted daughter, Sabina, 9; and a biological son, Santino, 6. According to Santiago's legal counsel, Atty. Peter Sanchez, the actor has already filed a petition for a writ of habeas corpus to see his children. The case was raffled off Wednesday morning to Branch 168 of the Marikina RTC. After Wednesday's hearing, Santiago expressed confidence that "the truth will eventually come out." "Lalabas naman lahat 'yan sa korte," Santiago, who was escorted by security personnel, told reporters as he exited the Marikina RTC. He also thanked those who support him despite Barretto's allegations. "Gusto ko magpasalamat sa lahat ng mga sumusuporta sa akin, at mga taong naniniwala sa akin. Naniniwala ako na lalabas din ang totoo dito," he said. Barretto, who was present in the closed-door hearing on Wednesday, was seen hastily leaving the court. She opted not to grant any interviews. -- Report from Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News

Lawyer: Claudine didn't file TPO for publicity

MANILA -- The lawyer of Claudine Barretto said the actress is not seeking publicity by filing a temporary protection order against her estranged husband, actor Raymart Santiago, on Monday. Atty. Ferdinand Topacio stressed that Barretto was initially reluctant to file the TPO, saying that this may greatly affect her children. "Actually she was very reluctant to do this until the very last minute na sabi ko, 'sige ikaw ang bahala kasi I cannot decide for you.'" "She did a lot of soul-searching, iyakan nang iyakan, almost the whole time I was with her. Hanggang ngayon, hindi tumitigil ang pag-iyak niya and she's really in a lot of pain -- emotionally, mentally. And she was in grief. Ang pangit naman ng gimik na ito kung gimik ito, hindi matutuwa ang tao sa iyo nito sa gimik na ito," he explained. Topacio also addressed rumors that his client is allegedly showing eccentric behavior, and that Barretto has entered a rehab facility. "Alam niyo, admittedly, may mga recorded na times na talagang medyo may aberration ang conduct ni Ms. Barretto. Ngunit nais ko lang ibalik ang tanong sa publiko at sa media, hindi kaya dahil ganoon si Claudine ay talagang because since 2005 ay may hindi na siya nagiging magandang karanasan sa pagsasama niya kay Mr. Raymart Santiago? Kaya nga she has to be fixed, kaya nga may psychiatrist kaming kukunin to analyze her," he said. Citing his years of experience as a lawyer, Topacio said he is confident that Barretto is telling the truth. "She may be a good actress, but she's not that good para lokohin ako ng tatlong araw. I am a seasoned lawyer. Maloloko mo siguro ako for a while, pero nagtagal na ganoong kasama mo ay magsi-slip at magsi-slip na it was just an act. Consistent [siya]," he said.

Claudine files protection order vs Raymart

MANILA – (UPDATE 1) Actress Claudine Barretto filed a temporary protection order against her estranged husband, Raymart Santiago, before the Marikina Regional Trial Court on Monday morning. Barretto was accompanied by her counsel, Atty. Ferdinand Topacio. Topacio said Barretto had been thinking about this move for a while and it’s just now that she had the courage to file the complaint. “She has been under intense and tremendous emotional stress. Mula pa po noong Sabado nung pinatawag niya po ako. Actually, nagdadalawang-isip po talaga siya. Ang pag-file po nitong TPO ay hers and only hers,” he said. While he cannot disclose any details about the petition, Topacio said Barretto only wants herself and her children to be protected against Santiago. “Kami ay umaasa na ito ay agarang maaprubahan. Ang hinihiling namin dito ay hindi makalapit si Mr. Raymart Santiago sa aking kliyente at sa mga bata, na hindi po magkaroon ng actual physical threat. Marami po kaming hinihiling doon sapagkat napagkaalaman namin na may mga armas na pag-aari, high-powered firearms si Mr. Santiago at ito po ay kasama sa TPO pati ang pagbibigay ng suporta,” he said. Topacio also asked the media to give Barretto some space, saying that what she is going through now is a very sensitive matter. “Sana ay bigyan natin ng privacy si Ms. Barretto dahil ito po ay it was a very painful decision for her to make. Talagang namilipit siya ng husto, physically, emotionally, mentally bago niya napagdesisyunan ito,” he said. In a separate interview with dzMM, Barretto asked her supporters to pray for her family. "Siyempre may pinagdaraanan at hindi okay. But I'm trying my best to be okay for my children, to be strong for my children and for my family," she said. "Ayaw ko talagang magsalita. I am not ready to talk. I don't want to talk. I just want to be protected. I just want my children to be protected. Yun lang masasabi ko," she added. It has been almost a month since Barretto’s mom revealed that Santiago is no longer living with her daughter and grandchildren. Despite this, Santiago’s older brother Randy told “The Buzz” on Sunday that the two are still on speaking terms and he still gets to see his son and daughter. “Nagkakaroon naman yata [ng chance makita 'yung mga bata]. Binibigyan naman yata ng pagkakataon ni Claudine, wala naman yatang problema,” he said

Claudine thanks mom in letter

MANILA – Actress Claudine Barretto thanked her mom Inday, who has consistently defended her against bashers and even against her own sisters Gretchen and Marjorie. In a letter she sent her mom last May 8, a copy of which was published in the June 2013 issue of Yes magazine, Claudine noted that her mom was always there for her. “I don’t know where to start. I have so many things I want to thank you for & say. I am so blessed to have you as a mother. Thank you Mom for loving me and taking good care of me all these years. Thank you for being there when we need you & being my strength apart from God,” she said. Claudine said that even if she were to live another life, she would still choose Mrs. Barretto to be her mother. The actress also took the opportunity to apologize for the "many times" she hurt her mother. “Thank you for holding my hand when I’m scared or hurt. Thanks for being a friend. I love you so much Mom. I thank you and Dad for giving me such a great childhood. I’m so sorry again for the many times I have hurt you,” she said. Before ending the letter, Claudine said she will always try to live up to her promise of making her parents proud of her. In April, Mrs. Barretto released a statement saying she had disowned her 43-year-old daughter Gretchen in favor of Claudine. The feud between the Barretto sisters stemmed partly from allegations that Claudine was set out to "block" the showbiz career of Marjorie's daughter, Julia, although this was denied by Mrs. Barretto. Subsequent statements made by two other Barretto siblings, Joaquin and Gia, brought up previous family issues, including one about Gretchen being the breadwinner of the family when she was just a teen. While Gretchen refused to fight back despite the accusations made against her by her own mother and older sister Gia, Marjorie, for her part, said she doesn’t see their family feud ending soon. Claudine has yet to break her silence about the controversy.

Julia hopes to follow Claudine's career path

MANILA, Philippines -- As she prepares for her first leading role on television, Julia Barretto said she hopes to follow in the career path of her aunt, actress Claudine Barretto. Julia, who will star in ABS-CBN's upcoming soap "Cofradia," was all praises for Claudine's acting prowess. Claudine, a former Kapamilya star, has scored lead roles in a number of shows on ABS-CBN before moving to a rival network. "I would like to follow the career path of my Tita Claudine. Kasi sobrang ganda ng teleseryes niya, 'yung movies niya. Sobrang fan ako ni Tita Claudine ko. Sobrang galing," Julia said. "Cofradia" was offered to Julia amid the controversy including her mother, Marjorie, and aunts Gretchen and Claudine. Claudine was involved in a feud with her other celebrity sisters, Gretchen and Marjorie, who both allegedly accused her of sabotaging Julia's career. Julia was recently introduced as an artist of Star Magic, the ABS-CBN talent management firm that launched Claudine to stardom until her transfer to another network in 2009. Julia said she wants her mom, aunties and grandmother Inday to fix their differences. "I want everything to be OK and calm between 'yung mga magkakapatid and mag-ina. Sila na muna. Hindi talaga ako nakikialam, ayaw ko, hindi ko 'yon problema. It's not for me to fix, to talk about. Sa kanila na 'yon, [basta] ang saya-saya ko [sa bago kong project]," she said. Asked to choose between Claudine and Gretchen when it comes to being a "better actress," Julia said: "Super fan ako ng dalawa. Iba ang style ng pag-arte nila at iba din ang nabibigay na role sa kanila. Tita Gretchen, more of contravida, si Tita Claudine more of the good girl. Hindi ko pa nakikita masyado na si Tita Gretchen mag-good girl at si Tita Claudine na magkontrabida. Pareho ko silang idol. Pareho silang magaling, super fan ako at dream ko nga na makatrabaho sila," she said.

Unlike Julia, Claudia Barretto not keen on showbiz

Claudia unfazed by controversies surrounding their family MANILA – Just like her older sisters Dani and Julia, Claudia Barretto remains unfazed that their family is now the talk of the town because of the controversies her motheir Marjorie and aunts Claudine and Gretchen are currently embroiled in. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday, Claudia said she and her siblings are trying to just ignore what’s happening. “We don’t really mind that. We continue with our lives. We all know how to handle it, we can go through this,” she said. Asked if she has a message for those who speak ill of their family, Claudia said: “We don’t mind them anymore. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion so we’ll just respect that.” According to Claudia, she also draws strength from her mom, who has not shown any signs of weakness since her sexy photos made the rounds online. “I’m really proud of my mom, she’s such a strong woman. She’s the one I look up to,” she said. Meanwhile, the 13-year-old Barretto said she does not have concrete plans of joining show business unlike Julia. “Not yet now because I think I should prioritize studies talaga. I want to make my mom proud. I don’t know yet. I’m not yet sure. I’m gonna continue playing football. But it’s just an extra-curricular activity. I just enjoy doing it,” she said. Claudia said she is only entertaining endorsements right now until school starts again next month.
