Marjorie hits back at Claudine

MANILA -- Actress Marjorie Barretto lashed out at youngest sister Claudine Barretto, after the actress' controversial remarks that she no longer considers her sisters as part of the family and it would be better if they change their last name. "Hurtful! You are the youngest in this family but you treat us all so disrespectfully. From the eldest to the youngest you have never respected us. Enough is enough. I have kept my peace all these time. But this is too much. You have hurt me enough to last a lifetime. You can fool the world and make them believe that we are bad sisters. But you little girl... You cannot fool God. In time... We will be vindicated," Marjorie said via her official Instagram account. Marjorie said she will not change her last name. "Little girl... who gave you the right to dictate to us... To Me "PALITAN NA RIN NILA ANG APELYIDO NILA" I am a BARRETTO! I am legally allowed to use Barretto. You are the one that is a Santiago now. I was a Barretto even before you were born. You ARE NOT the head of this family. I don't take orders from you Little girl. I will not take orders from you," Marjorie added. The actress stressed that she is tired of her youngest sister's blackmail tactics and she will no longer allow Claudine to hurt or harm her again. "I am removing all power you have on me to hurt me.. I'm tired of your blackmails. You have caused me many many sleepless nights and I have cried too many tears for you. You Little girl... You can not hurt or harm me again. Never again. This is the last time I will cry over you," says Marjorie who added, "God is watching." On Tuesday, in a press conference, Claudine denied accusations made by her estranged husband Raymart Santiago that she is using illegal drugs. She also refused to comment when asked about Marjorie and Gretchen's involvement in Santiago's sworn statement. "No comment, hindi ko sila pamilya. Like I said hindi ko sila pamilya at sana palitan na din nila ang apelyido nila," Claudine said. In the press conference, Barretto family patriarch, Miguel Barretto said his daughters Marjorie and Gretchen can change their surname if they want. Mr. Barretto also challenged Gretchen and Marjorie to drop the Barretto surname if they truly feel ashamed to be part of the family. "Kung kinakahiya nila ang Barrettong pangalan, huwag na nilang gamitin, magpalit sila. Gretchen can use Cojuangco kung papayagan siyang gamitin ang Cojuangco, I doubt kung papayag naman si Cojuangco. Marjorie can use Baldivia if she wants kung kinakahiya niya 'yung Barretto," he said. "Wala akong magagawa hindi naman sila nakikinig sa akin," he added.

Uploaders of Marjorie sexy pics face jail, fine

MANILA - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) confirmed on Thursday that it is investigating those who uploaded naked photos of actress Marjorie Barretto on the Internet. NBI Cybercrime Division head agent Ronald Aguto said uploaders of Barretto’s naked photos could be charged with violation of Republic Act 9995 or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009. “Our objective is to find out who uploaded the pictures. In the law, it is not just the one who first uploaded. You could be the second, third or whatever, but as long as you upload on the Internet, you are liable,” he told radio dzMM. Aguto said the NBI Cybercrime Division has received many complaints about individuals whose former partners posted sexy pictures or videos of them online. Violators of the Anti-Voyeurism Law could face imprisonment of up to seven years and a fine of P500,000. Barretto earlier confirmed that the woman in the sexy photos is her, adding that the leak of the photos which were taken years ago was meant to shame her. “Those were done para masira ako pero I’m not going to give anybody the power to do that to me. Hindi ako papayag na [gawin nila ulit sa akin iyon],” she said in an interview on ABS-CBN program “The Buzz.”

How Gretchen, Marjorie got by amid controversies

MANILA -- Celebrity sisters Gretchen and Marjorie Barretto surrounded themselves with "love and prayers" to surpass the recent string of controversies that have rocked their family. "I'm so much better now. Through the grace of God, I am okay. The love of my friends and family around is just amazing... I'm okay now," Gretchen said in an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News' Marie Lozano on Thursday. In April, Gretchen's mother Inday released a statement saying she had disowned the 43-year-old actress. The feud stemmed partly from allegations that her sister Claudine has set out to "block" the showbiz career of Marjorie's daughter, Julia. This was denied by Inday. Subsequent statements made by two other Barretto siblings, Joaquin and Gia, brought up previous issues among their family members, including one about Gretchen being the breadwinner of the family when she was just a teen. Asked on Thursday whether she still hopes that "things will get better" among her family, Gretchen said, "Honestly, no, I'm not. I don't think about that." "I try not to talk about anything that's painful, anything that's negative. I just try to move on and do my thing," she said. NO HOPE FOR RECONCILIATION? She added that she has also "given up" on the possibility of reconciling with the family members she's been at odds with. Gretchen cited the unfailing presence of her friends and loved ones as helpful in moving past the publicized family feud. "I surround myself with people who love me, and who appreciate me. I think that's what's important for me," she said. According to Gretchen, the support of loving friends and kin is likewise helping Marjorie overcome the controversy involving private photos of the latter which went viral online. "Nung nagka-problema ako or si Marjorie, nandiyan lang kami, andiyan 'yung mga kapatid ko, andiyan yung mga pamangkin namin," she said. She added: "They're just there, walang sinasabi, ayaw namin pag-usapan 'yung problema, o kung sino 'yung problema, o kung sino 'yung nakakasakit, we just tried to be positive." The actress said she also realized the value of the physical presence of her loved ones. "One of the things that I really appreciate is that importante pala talaga 'yung yinayakap ka pag may problema," Gretchen said. "Kasi 'di ba masakip sa dibdib pag may problema, so when you embrace the person, kahit wala kang sabihin, it means so much. "I never thought na ang yakap pala, when it's given to you at a time... that very painful time, it means the world to you. Parang 'yung lang, sapat na," she said. Above all, Gretchen said her friends and other family members continuously prayed to survive the ordeal. "Kung walang dasal, siguro I gave up already na," she said. "Salamat sa Diyos, I have friends, I have people who love me, I have people who pray for me. Kapit sa Diyos, iyon ang importante," she said.

Marjorie doesn't see family feud ending soon

MANILA – Former actress Marjorie Barretto admitted it was her sister Gia’s statement that hurt her the most amid the ongoing Barretto family feud. In an interview with “The Buzz” aired on Sunday, Marjorie said she felt Gia had the least right to say anything about their family row since she has been living in the United States for quite a while. “Siguro pinakanasaktan ako nung sa sister ko, kay Gia. Pinaka iyon ang iniyakan ko kasi siya ang pinakawala dito. She’s been gone for many, many years so siya talaga, I felt, has the least right to have an opinion kasi wala siya dito sa lahat ng hirap,” she said. Gia released a statement last April 26 belying the statements earlier made by their brother Joaquin that it was their sister Gretchen who actually helped their family financially in the past. Marjorie said it saddens her that Gia seemed to have been “brainwashed.” “I [tried to call her]. I’m very close to her. That’s why I felt really betrayed kasi sabi ko I was just a call away, you could have called. Na-brainwash siya eh so I really felt betrayed and very, very hurt,” she said. Marjorie said it pains her that a lot has already been said and done about their family but the real issue has yet to be resolved. “There is a deeper story. I feel na parang nawala, nalihis sa totoong issue kami. Parang nag-away sila sa hindi naman dapat na issue. I was very heartbroken. To be honest, I was very hurt that my mom had to bring it all out in the open. Parang ang pakiramdam ko noon, dapat sa atin nag-lock tayo lahat sa isang kwarto at nagsigawan tayo ng whatever. Ilabas natin ang galit sa isa’t isa, hindi kailangan sa publiko kasi nakakahiya talaga,” she said. Saying she does not see her family patching things up in the near future, Marjorie said: “Hindi ko alam kung anong na-learn namin. Sabi ko nga when the dust settles, anong na-achieve namin? I still don’t see kung anong natutunan naming sa lahat ng ito. Naging parang bad example pa kami sa lahat ng gma tao.” “I’m really sad. Parang we have reduced our family name to a joke. We became a big joke. It’s painful kasi family iyan eh. They are the people you run to first kapag may problema ka. Hindi 'yung tuwing may problema ka, sila ang huling nakakaalam dahil hindi mo nafi-feel na poprotektahan ka,” she added. Marjorie said the division in their family actually gave her a respite from the fighting. “Masyado akong pagod na. Napagaod ako sa issue na ito na parang I want the space. Okay na muna sigurong huwag muna magkita kita. Magko-concentrate na lang muna ako sa mga anak ko, marami naman akong anak. Dito ko na lang pagbubutihin,” she said.

Marjorie knows who leaked her photos

MANILA – Gretchen Barretto revealed that her sister Marjorie knows who is behind the photo scandal which broke last week. Speaking on “The Buzz” on Sunday, Gretchen said her sister plans to break her silence after the elections on Monday. “Alam ni Marjorie [who is behind this]. Actually tinanong ko si Marjorie on the phone last night. Sabi ko ‘Marj, what are you going to do with this situation?’ Sabi niya 'Gretchen, hintayin natin na matapos ang eleksyon. Magsasalita ako, ilalabas ko kung ano ang dapat ilabas. Wala akong tinatago, mayroon lang akong mga pinoprotektahan,'” Gretchen said. According to Gretchen, her younger sister is still coping after her sexy photos made the rounds online last week without her consent. “May mga oras na okay siya, may mga oras na hindi siya okay. Yes, she admitted na siya yung sa photos,” she said. Meanwhile, Marjorie told “The Buzz” on Sunday that she chooses not to dwell on negativity for the sake of her children. “Lahat ng mommy laging may pagdadaanan sa buhay. Hindi madaling maging nanay. Hindi rin madaling maging isang tao. Pero 'pag tayong mga mommy, may dumating na pagsubok sa atin, we have no choice but to get up immediately dahil may mga anak tayong umaasa sa atin,” she said. Marjorie said she is fortunate to have strong children who are helping cope during this difficult time. “Once you're a mother, you no longer own yourself. Siguro you'll give yourself one, two to three days to cry. After that, you pick up yourself and then life goes on kasi may mga anak ka. Malalakas naman ang loob ng mga anak ko so walang dahilan para hindi ako maging matapang din,” she said.

Marjorie: How do you fight with your mother?

MANILA – For former actress Marjorie Barretto, this is not yet the time to talk about the rift that has divided the Barretto family. In an exclusive interview with Korina Sanchez on “Rated K,” Marjorie said their family would not have been divided if their mother, Inday, did not involve the media. Marjorie was referring to the statement released by the Barretto matriarch last April 24, calling daughter Gretchen a “liar” and even disowned her. “Siguro kung hindi na-involve ang media, hindi na nagka-split eh. Marami kami, pito kaming magkakapatid. Hindi naman kami tatlo lang. I know that in time, maybe someday, makikita namin ano ba talaga ang gusto namin ma-achieve as a family dito,” she said. Marjorie said she still finds it hard to comment about the controversy because it is improper for a child to fight her parents. “How do you fight with your mother? It's hard to comment even up to now. But siguro mas pangit sa pananaw ng tao than what is really actually happening inside. Pero ako, I don't know if I'm ready to talk about it yet,” she said. According to Marjorie, what’s important is that she knows who is really telling the truth. Asked if she has any Mother’s Day greeting for her mom, Marjorie said: “I don't know what to say. Sometimes, I don't even know what to pray about anymore. I just hold the rosary or my wooden cross. I know in time, I will know but it's not a good time right now.” Despite this, Marjorie is hopeful that her family will manage to surpass this controversy. The latest feud to rock the Barretto family stemmed partly from comments on the image-sharing service Instagram, supposedly made by Gretchen, saying that her sister Claudine is not happy that their niece, Marjorie's daughter Julia, is starting to make a name for herself in showbiz. Julia was recently introduced as an artist of Star Magic, the ABS-CBN talent management firm that launched Claudine to stardom until her transfer to another network in 2009. In response to reports on the alleged exchange on Instagram, Inday released a statement last April 24 denying Claudine's supposed plans to "block" Julia's road to stardom. In the same statement, Inday announced she has disowned Gretchen "in order to save one who has always been there for all, and with all of her love...Claudine." Two other Barretto siblings, Joaquin and Gia joined the word war. The latter sided with her mother and youngest sister, while Joaquin sided with Gretchen, who is supposedly in the same camp as Marjorie. Last Sunday, Gretchen finally broke her silence and maintained that she will not fight back despite the accusations made against her by her own mother and older sister. The socialite-actress said she’d rather not talk about the ongoing feud involving her family because it is fight that’s supposed to be solved privately. Claudine has yet to speak about the issue.

Marjorie on family feud: Damage has been done

MANILA -- Marjorie Barretto is hopeful that her family will manage to surpass the latest feud to rock their clan of local celebrities. The 38-year-old former actress, however, told ABS-CBN News that "a lot of damage has been done." Following the controversial word war between the camps of her sister Gretchen and mother Inday, Marjorie has finally given her side on cam. In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN's Korina Sanchez, which will air in full in Sunday's episode of "Rated K," Marjorie said she still finds it difficult to address the issue. "It's hard to comment, even up to now, but siguro mas pangit sa pananaw ng tao than what is actually happening inside," she said. In April, in response to reports on the alleged exchange on Instagram, Inday released a statement denying Claudine's supposed plans to "block" Julia's road to stardom. Following the public exchange of allegations among her family members, Marjorie became the subject of headlines anew when a sensitive photo of her, supposedly taken five years ago, made the rounds online. Three of her children, Dani, Julia and Claudia, expressed support for Marjorie, saying they are confident that their mother will overcome the controversy. "I tell my children everything," Marjorie said in her interview on "Rated K."

Lawyer: Marjorie is woman in sexy photos

MANILA – The legal counsel of Marjorie Barretto has confirmed that the woman in the scandalous photos which made the rounds in the Internet over the weekend is indeed the former actress. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Atty. Lorna Kapunan said Barretto is “very upset” about the photos. “She’s a mother, she’s very upset. She’s not running for any public office precisely because she wants to guard her privacy. She has growing up daughters and ang concern niya is they are in the formative years where they understand. That’s why we are also respecting the media na sana huwag na interviewhin si Marj,” she said. Kapunan said this matter “should remain within the family and what pictures she may have should remain private.” Thus Kapunan is appealing to the public to stop uploading or reposting Marjorie’s alleged photos so they will not be forced to file legal charges. “RA 9995, mayroon tayong tinatawag na Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act. It is a crime under the Bible. It is a fair warning. Nobody has ever filed a case under 9995 and hopefully they do not test us because we are here to see that the law is implemented,” the lawyer said. Kapunan said they have already identified all the people who posted the photos and they will definitely take legal actions against them if they don’t put it down. “We have the addresses of all the bloggers, and we have sent you demand letters and this is a fair warning to you guys that the penalty is P100,000 to P500,000 plus imprisonment of three years to seven years or both,” she said. ‘Motives are suspect’ Meanwhile, Kapunan said that while the spread of the photos is separate from the ongoing Barretto family feud, “it comes at the time where motives are suspect.” The photos were made public just a week after the Barretto matriarch publicly disowned daughter Gretchen Barretto while defending her other daughter Claudine. Although Marjorie has remained mum about their mother's statement about Gretchen, showbiz observers believe that the feud stemmed partly from comments on the image-sharing service Instagram, supposedly made by Gretchen, saying that her sister Claudine is not happy that their niece, Julia, is starting to make a name for herself in showbiz. Julia, the daughter of Marjorie, was recently introduced as an artist of Star Magic, the ABS-CBN talent management firm that launched Claudine to stardom until her transfer to another network in 2009. “It is enough that there is so much publicity on the family already because of sibling squabble. This one is separate and it comes at the time where motives are suspect,” Kapunan told ABS-CBN News. “Nothing is more valuable than your private reputation, nothing is more valuable than your family, and nothing is more valuable than your children. In the case of Marjorie, she has daughters so she’s appealing -- regardless of what the moral judgment on the situation of the parties are concerned – to keep it private,” she added. Barretto initially denied that she was the woman in the sexy photos.

Marjorie Barretto denies sexy photos

Marjorie Barretto with her daughter Julia MANILA, Philippines – Actress-turned-politician Marjorie Barretto denied that she's the woman on the "scandalous photos" circulating online. "No. That's not me. I would never do something like that. That's not my nature," Barretto told entertainment site Pep.ph on Monday. One of the sexy photos shows a woman who looks like Barretto exposing her right breast, while the other photo had the same woman in black panties with her legs open. Barretto told the website that she is looking into possibility of taking legal actions against who uploaded the photo. She is currently a reelectionist councilor in Caloocan City. Aside from “scandal photos,” Barretto is also involved in the latest feud against her sister Gretchen Barretto and their mother Inday Barretto.

Better times: Barretto sisters 'strong together'

MANILA – Before the latest controversy to rock the Barrettos, the showbiz clan figured in several other personal feuds that went public. Over the past decade, sisters Gretchen, Marjorie and Claudine -- who are the youngest siblings of seven, in order -- were estranged at different times due to conflicts within their family. Notably, Gretchen and Marjorie had a falling out over the former's reported tiff with her sister's husband Dennis Padilla in 2004. Claudine and their mother Inday supposedly sided with Marjorie, leaving Gretchen estranged. All four reconciled after three years. In 2010, Claudine and Gretchen's earlier feud resurfaced due to issues related to their aborted co-starring stint in a TV series, and what was seen as a competition between them as actresses. The conflict eased a year later, with Claudine releasing a statement on her reconciliation with her older sister. Early this week, however, what is seen as the worst conflict to hit the Barrettos made headlines, when Inday announced that she has decided to disown Gretchen in favor of Claudine. These two celebrity Barrettos, a decade earlier, were the most vocal of their close bond as a family. "Our love for each other I guess is so great. We've always known that we were strong together," Gretchen said in an interview in 2002. "When you say sisters, or brothers, or family," Claudine added, "the bond has to really be there and intact. Iyon ang pamilya, iyon ang totoong pamilya."
