Ruffa Gutierrez: ‘Imbes sabihin mong Kapamilya, siguro ka-trabaho’

Ruffa Gutierrez has been pretty visible inside the ABS-CBN compound these days. She was a guest judge on It’s Showtime and she will be starring with Vice Ganda in a Metro Manila Film Fest movie titled Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy, which is co-produced by the network’s film outfit, Star Cinema. Is this a sign that she’s returning as a Kapamilya? “Mahirap sagutin ‘yan, basta all the works that I am doing now is with ABS-CBN and basically my heart never left naman eh. Ang pinakimportante siguro diyan na imbes sabihin mong Kapamilya, siguro ka-trabaho,” she remarked in an interview with Push.com.ph and with the other press during a photo shoot for her MMFF movie. Though she’s not making any confirmation yet on what network she’s going to go full-time with, Ruffa relayed that she’s set to do a big project slated to air next year. “Well meron akong project na it’s coming up. Nakalaan siya next year so malalaman din nila ‘yun,” she said. In the meantime, Ruffa is excited to be starring with Vice Ganda in Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy. “First time kung makatrabaho siya sa isang pelikula. Nakasama ko na dati sa mga interviews lang. Napakahusay niya, ang galing ng timing niya sa comedy, kasi ang hirap magpatawa, mas madaling magpaiyak and masasabi ko na for sure isang box office hit na naman ‘to,” she said. “Kasi sa set pa lang habang nagsho-shoot tawa na kami ng tawa and right there and then iniiba nila ‘yung script. Nagdadagdag sila ng mga punch lines, ‘yung mga comedy scenes na hindi nila nadadagdag naiisip nila on set so makikita mo talaga na hindi sila mabo-bore,” she remarked.

Ruffa won't say if she's back as a Kapamilya

MANILA – Beauty queen-turned-actress Ruffa Gutierrez won’t confirm or deny whether she is part of the Kapamilya network again. This after Gutierrez has appeared in a number of ABS-CBN shows such as “It’s Showtime.” In an interview with ABS-CBN News at the sidelines of her pictorial for the movie “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy,” Gutierrez said she can’t give a straight answer to that question yet. “Mahirap sagutin ‘yan. Basta all the work that I am doing now is with ABS-CBN and basically, my heart never left naman. Ang pinakaimportante siguro diyan, imbes na sabihin mong Kapamilya, sabihin mo na lang katrabaho,” she said. Gutierrez said she will also be part of another Kapamilya show, but she can’t divulge any details about it until later this week. “Mayroon akong project that’s coming up, nakalaan for next year. We are making that big announcement on Thursday. Interviewhin niyo na lang ako ulit on Thursday,” she said jokingly. Meanwhile, Gutierrez expressed her excitement after working with comedian Vice Ganda in the abovementioned Metro Manila Film Festival entry. “First time ko siya makatrabaho sa pelikula. Nakasama ko siya dati sa mga interviews pero napakahusay niya. Ang galing ng timing niya sa comedy. Ang talino niyang aktor kasi mahirap magpatawa. Mas madaling magpaiyak and masasabi ko na 'yung tandem ni Derek Wenn Deramas and Vice Ganda, sobrang box office hit na ito,” she said. According to Gutierrez, she did not have a hard time doing the movie because her role fits her personality. “Walang challenges kasi talagang very natural, I’m really maarte. Walang breakdown scenes or yung mamamatay ako. I’m really at home na sa comedy. Kung may challenging siguro sa part na iyon, it’s just timing in terms of delivery and in terms of comedy,” she said. The former beauty queen also gave credit to Vice Ganda, who was “very generous” in their scenes together. “Nagbibigayan kami. Of course this is mainly Vice’s movie. Kapag kaeksena ko siya, nagbibigayan kami. Hindi naman siya 'yung tipong sasapawan ako or sasapawan ko siya. I think that’s the beauty of working with professional actors. We all have our different moments, our different highlights,” she said. Also featuring Maricel Soriano, “Girl, Boy, Bakla, Tomboy” will be shown in theaters starting December 25.

Ruffa on singlehood: 'I'm very happy on my own'

Beauty queen to take short course in London MANILA, Philippines -- Beauty queen and single mom Ruffa Gutierrez nowadays finds herself concerned with "bettering herself," than being on the lookout for a new man to come into her life. Speaking with reporters at the sidelines of her early birthday celebration on Thursday, Gutierrez expressed contentment with the current state of her life and career, saying she couldn't wish for anything more. Photo from the actress-host's Instagram page "I just want all the blessings to continue, peace of mind, happiness, 'yun lang. Wala naman talaga [akong hiling pa]. I think I'm very happy, very fulfilled with my life right now," said the actress-host, who will turn 39 on June 24. Although she is not closing her doors to romance, Gutierrez said she feels no need to actively find a partner, pointing to her two daughters with former husband Ylmaz Bektas -- Lorin, 9, and Venice, 8 -- as her source of happiness. "Kung dumating naman si Mr. Right, eh wala namang problema na i-accept ko na kung anuman ang dumating, especially when it comes to love. I haven't had a boyfriend in two years, so kung dumating man 'yon this year, iwi-welcome ko 'yon. "But I'm not going to settle, I'm very happy with myself, just being with my kids. There's really no need to look for a man. I'm very happy on my own," she said. Off to London Aside from spending time with her daughters, Gutierrez will busy herself with her studies in King's College in London, where she will take up a short course on International Political Economy. Ruffa Gutierrez's letter of acceptance to King's College in London, as shared by the TV host on her Instagram page early this week The actress-host hopes the course, which will last for a month, will help prepare her to effectively take part in international relations. Clarifying her motivation to pursue the course, Gutierrez said, "Hindi ko iniisip pumasok sa pulitika. That is not in my plans at all. Siguro more of helping others and more of international relations, being an ambassador or [part of the] United Nations. Mas type ko 'yung ganoon." Gutierrez said she sees the move as a way of expanding her knowledge and skills, with the goal to "better herself" in mind. "A lot of people are happy for me, and they encourage me na ipagpatuloy ko 'yan... Siguro I just want to better myself as a person, and hindi naman talaga lahat ng mundo ko showbiz lang. "I want to expand also, be ready for the rainy days, be ready when the time comes so I'm well-equipped na kahit wala na ako sa showbiz, mabubuhay ako," she said.
