Kim, Maja speak up on 'reconciliation'

MANILA - Amid their much-publicized rift over their “wasted” friendship, Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador on Sunday openly talked about their reconciliation scene in “Ina Kapatid Anak” that sent a lot of netizens to tears. During their “The Buzz” guesting on Sunday, Salvador and Chiu were seated side by side as host Charlene Gonzales asked them how difficult it was to tape the emotional scene. Taking the lead, Salvador said she approached the scene in a purely professional manner. “Kasi ako pagdating sa set, ang suot ko ng sapatos 'yung kay Margaux na. So in character na po talaga. Bago mangyari ang eksenang iyon, talagang binalikan ko lahat 'yung pinagdaanan ni Margaux,” she said. Salvador said she channeled all her emotions to properly deliver what the viewers deserved to see. “Kuwento iyan ng pamilya. Kahit anong hirap, kahit anong pag-aaway, kahit anong sakitan niyo, kahit gaano kasakit ang pinagdaanan niyong dalawa, at the end of the day pamilya pa rin kayo. Wala kayong magagawa kundi i-accept kung ano ang mga pagkakamali niyo. I-accept kung nagkamali man kayo and kalimutan lahat dahil pamilya kayo,” she said. Chiu, for her part, credited the show’s writers and directors, who motivated them. “Una sa writer namin, siyempre the way na sinulat 'yung eksena na iyon, ang galing. And siyempre sa pagdirek din, ang ganda din. Na-motivate kami ng maayos, nasabi naming ang linya namin ng maayos as Celyn and Margaux,” she said. The soap's reconciliation episode aired last May 21 when Salvador’s and Chiu’s characters were brought together by the worsening condition of their father, who barely survives a gunshot in a plot to kill him. Leading up to the reconciliation, the creators of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" admitted that putting together confrontational scenes between Margaux and Celyn has become increasingly difficult, in light of the reported real-life tension between the two actresses. The soap first aired in October last year, and was already billed at the time as featuring the "rivalry" of the two principal characters. It was in early January when Chiu expressed regret over her "wasted" friendship with Salvador, following reports of a blooming "relationship" between the "Thelma" actress and actor Gerald Anderson. Chiu and Anderson broke up in 2010 amid controversies surrounding their relationship. Following speculations on the real score between them, Anderson finally admitted to entertainment magazine StarStudio in its June 2013 issue that he and Salvador are now officially a couple. Early this month, Chiu said she has forgiven both her erstwhile best friend and former partner, but added that it was "difficult to forget." Salvador, on the other hand, admitted she and Chiu are not yet in talking terms but she is hoping to patch things up with her former best friend.
