'Ina Kapatid Anak' ratings soar as finale nears

MANILA, Philippines -- "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" overtook "Juan dela Cruz" on Thursday to become the No. 1 most watched TV program in the country, as the drama series starring Kim Chiu and Maja Salvador approaches its final week on air. The June 6 episode of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" marked a sharp rise in the primetime series' national TV ratings, with a 6-percentage-point increase from its previous telecast. According to the latest TV ratings data from multinational market research group Kantar Media, the program dubbed "Ang Teleserye ng Pamilyang Pilipino" garnered a nationwide rating of 39.6% on Thursday, making it the No. 1 TV show across the country. "Juan dela Cruz," which frequently holds the top spot, was bumped off to rank second, with a national TV rating of 35.9%. The Coco Martin-starrer airs before "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" during ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block. The Thursday rating of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" was more than double the audience share garnered by its competing program aired on GMA-7, which only registered 15.8%. Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, representing 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population. Kantar Media's June 6 TV ratings data In the June 6 episode of "Ina, Kapatid, Anak," the once-warring siblings, Margaux (Salvador) and Celyn (Chiu), are seen in a desperate struggle to escape a building collapsing from fire. Celyn had been kidnapped by Mio (John Regala) and Diego (Alex Medina), the father and son out for revenge on their victim's mother, Teresa (Cherry Pie Picache) -- the same woman who they think turned their back on them as her own family several years back. With the help of Celyn's partner, Liam (Xian Lim), she and her twin sister manage to get out alive. Surpassing the ordeal, the siblings strengthen their relationship with Teresa, their surrogate mother, and Beatrice (Janice de Belen), their biological mother.
