It looks like Amanda Bynes just might catch a break.
A plea deal is currently in the works for the actress in the case of driving with a suspended license, a source tells E! News exclusively.
After being a no-show for today's hearing, Bynes' attorney Richard Hutton was advised that his client will only be granted one more continuance in her misdemeanor. Burbank District Attorney Denny Wei explains that part of the hold up today was due to Bynes' attorney waiting to receive signed papers from his client.
Amanda Bynes doesn't show up to court hearing
In order for a plea deal to be accepted the court must receive sign notorized forms from a defendant waiving certain rights, Wei added.
But the papers could be on their way, after Bynes was photographed running around New York City with a FedEx envelope earlier today.
During this morning's hearing, Judge Margaret Oldendorf granted the continuance in advance of a pretrial and stressed to Hutton that he needed to wrap up the case, which has been dragging on since October, when Bynes was slapped with two misdemeanor counts of driving with a suspended license. She pleaded not guilty to those charges.
