MANILA -- BB Gandanghari, formerly known as Rustom Padilla, is thankful for the full support he has received from his family as he remains confined in a hospital.
Gandanghari was recently admitted to a hospital due to "a very serious infection," according to his brother, action star Robin Padilla.
On Twitter, the openly gay actor posted a photo of him with his family in his hospital room.
"A family love that heals," he wrote as the photo's caption.
Early this week, Padilla referred to Gandanghari as his "sister" in a post on the photo-sharing website Instagram, showing that he has finally accepted his brother's sexual preference.
The photo showed Gandanghari playing with Ali, Padilla's son.
In previous interviews, Gandanghari said he is hurt that his family is having a hard time accepting him as a gay man.
"'Yung acceptance ['yung pinakamasakit]. Kasi we are social people, we need to be accepted. It’s a need. So when you feel rejected, masakit. Tapos pamilya mo so para kang sinasaksak nang paulit-ulit. And yet kailangan mo pa rin maintindihan, otherwise, it’s very devastating,” he was quoted as saying.
