John Estrada confirmed that he and ex-wife Janice de Belen both attended the high school graduation of their daughter Kaila last week, but the estranged couple reportedly avoided each other. As it is, Janice has always been vocal about having no need to rekindle friendship with her ex since they are both living separate lives anyway.
Nevertheless, the two wanted to be there to celebrate a milestone in their daughter’s life. “Yes, of course, kailangan namin magsanib pwersa [para sa graduation ng aming anak].” He was quick to add though that they didn’t exchange words during the said event. “Text text lang,” he jokingly told Push.com.ph when asked if they still get to talk to each other. “Hindi eh, hindi naman kailangan [kaming mag-usap]. Ayos naman mga anak namin.”
John said he is really proud because their eldest daughter Moira recently graduated from college. “Masarap, fulfilling ang feeling [ang umakyat sa stage] dahil siyempre yun ang role natin as a parent—bigyan ng magandang edukasyon ang mga anak natin. Although mayroon din akong mga anak na nag-graduate ng elementary (his son Yuan) at high school this year, iba yung college.”
John further shared that Moira plans to apply for a job in the Kapamilya network soon. “Tinanong ko siya, ‘What’s your plan after college?’ ‘Sleep, sleep, sleep.’ Sabi niya pahinga muna ng three to six months. Pero Moira plans to work in a network. I think she’s applying here in ABS-CBN. Communication Arts graduate kasi siya.”
On the other hand, his daughter Kaila seems to be interested in pursuing a modeling career. “Kamukha ng ate ko. Estrada talaga ‘yan. Ang plano niya dati gusto niya magmodel muna. Hindi ko alam kung itutuloy niya kasi marami akong kaibigan na designers na gusto kumuha sa kanya mag-ramp modelling.”
Asked if he’d allow his daughters to enter show business, John simply replied, “Wala namang masama sa industriya talaga. Ang maa-advise ko lang, kung gusto nila pumasok, mahalin nila yung industriya at saka yung trabaho nila.”
