Janice de Belen feels for Gerald Anderson, who is the target of intrigues surrounding his budding romance with Maja Salvador.
“I feel bad for him. Kasi sa extent ng pagkakakilala ko sa kanya, hindi naman siya masama. Everybody deserves to be happy. Everybody deserves a love life. Kung maligaya ang isang tao, bakit natin sasabihin na dapat malungkot siya,” Janice told reporters at the Star Awards for Movies in AFP Theatre on Sunday, March 10.
Janice and Gerald played mother and son in the teleserye “Budoy.”
Even after their teleserye, the Star Awards Best Supporting Actress shared that she still got to see Gerald and even went to his recent birthday party. Janice even asked Gerald, ““Kaya mo pa?”
Janice believes no one has the right to say what is right when it comes to love.
“Everybody deserves to be happy. Wala namang karapatan ang kahit sino na puwedeng magsabi kung ano ang tama o mali pagdating sa pag-ibig, di ba? Dahil lahat naman tayo ay dumaraan sa katangahan o sa pagkakamali pagdating sa pag-ibig.”
Janice admits feeling tension on the set of the teleserye “Ina, Kapatid, Anak,” where she stars with Maja and Kim Chiu, Gerald’s ex-girlfriend. It will be recalled that Maja and Kim had a falling out after Gerald expressed his desire to pursue the former.
But Janice would rather keep her hands off the issue.
“Hindi naman ako mapagbigay kung walang nagtatanong. Pagdating sa ganyan na whenever I tell or they ask me, I keep it to myself. Nirerespeto ko pa rin yun mga bagay na hindi nila sinasabi or hindi nila tinatanong,” she said.
Janice feels proud the teleserye is rating well, not just because of the real-life drama between Kim and Maja, but because of its good story.
“Siyempre, sobrang happy ako to be part of a show that’s successful na nagugustuhan ng mga tao. Well, siguro curious ang mga tao to know kung kaya ba nilang mag-work together, will they have scenes together. Part of that is curiosity, but it’s only a percentage. Lamang pa rin yung pagiging maganda ng story,” Janice said.
Janice’s latest award is for her performance in “Tiktik: Aswang Chronicles.”
“It’s always an honor. Sabi nga nila your greatest competition is yourself. May silent pressure. Yung aftermath nun, inaabangan ng mga tao lahat ng mga ginagawa mo, kung tama ba ang naibigay sa iyo. So, may pressure ng konti,” she said.
