Why Roxanne, Melissa are mad at Jake Cuenca

MANILA – Jake Cuenca admitted there are moments when he could not understand why her former girlfriends, actresses Roxanne Guinoo and Melissa Ricks, are still mad at him up to now. “Sometimes I don’t [understand why they are mad] kasi for a lot of reasons, I can be mad also for a few things,” he said in an interview with “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday. Cuenca, however, said he is fully aware why he is still not in good terms with the two women following their breakup. “I did them wrong. I never denied that. Pero I am so in love at that time. I’d be so passionate, I would love this person and mamahalin ko talaga siya ng parang walang bukas and then one day, parang I fell out of love,” he explained. Cuenca also thinks it is unfortunate that his girlfriends’ parents have a bad impression of him. “For me kasi it’s a curse of mine. Most of the time, the first impression of the parents with me is not good because of all the issues that I’ve gone through. Kailangan ko talaga patunayan 'yung sarili ko sa magulang ng babae,” he said. Having said this, Cuenca stressed that he did not lack effort in saying sorry to Guinoo and Ricks. “I’ve apologized talaga so many times. Okay yung breakup. I don’t know why it was easy for me at that time to have moved on right away. Masakit talaga 'yun kasi I’ve been at the receiving end of that one. Parang umaasa ka pa rin, mahal na mahal mo pa rin yung tao, okay naman ang breakup niyo, umaasa ka pa rin and then one day may boyfriend na,” he said. Asked if he tried to make amends, Cuenca said: “Yeah but I think that’s something that needs to be very personal. [I tried] a couple of times but wala pa 'yung panahon.”

Is Melissa Ricks ready to love again?

MANILA -- A month after her breakup with "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate Paul Jake Castillo, actress Melissa Ricks admitted that she is now doing better. "Okay naman, everything is good. We are okay. Wala akong masabi parang ganoon pa din," Ricks said during the Star Magic Ball in Makati last Saturday. "I'm much better this time. aas madali sa akin kasi we are friends." Ricks also spoke up about a possible reconciliation with Castillo. "You will never know. Maybe in the future pero I'm not expecting anything," she said. For now, Ricks said she's not yet ready to fall in love again. "Darating din 'yan," said Ricks, who is currently doing her first indie film "Ligaw." Castillo, meanwhile, is part of the upcoming comedy flick "Momzillas," starring Maricel Soriano and Eugene Domingo.

Aniya, “This year, every year I am excited for the Star Magic Ball, siyempre everybody sa Star Magic is excited kasi every year iba ang gown, every year iba ang partner, iba ang experience, iba yung theme. This year I went with Nat Manilag and I did this very elegant black dress na plunging neckline naman ako this time, almost hanggang puson. I went with the gown and I am excited to see the final product and on the red carpet on how the pictures would turn out.” Aniya, “I think this year I will be going solo, for a change lang naman at wala pa naman naga-ask so malay mo mag-change in the couple of days so hindi ko naman alam.” “There is no solid reason kung bakit. Siguro we just cherish the friendship more than anything else kasi nung end part na ng relationship lagi na kaming nag-aaway, lagi nang nagkakainitan ng ulo. Minsan hindi kami nag-uusap kahit na magkasama kami and we don’t know why.” “No, walang third party. Siguro it is the right love at the wrong time, maybe we were just meant to be friends or I don’t know maybe. Before akala ko wala na akong makikitang iba and then Paul Jake came unexpectedly so now maybe in the future there is someone out there better for us.” “Yung care nandun pa rin, yung love nandun pa rin so maybe tapusin na habang hindi pa magulo and you can never say naman in the future. Hindi naman ako aasa o hindi naman na siya aasa na maayos. It really depends so I just enjoy right now at wala naman akong masamang masasbi sa kanya.”

Why Melissa Ricks, Paul Jake Castillo broke up

MANILA -- Returning home from a six-week vacation in the United States, actress Melissa Ricks finally spoke at length about her break-up with former "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate Paul Jake Castillo. Speaking with ABS-CBN News' Gretchen Fullido on Friday, Ricks explained her prolonged vacation overseas was for a program to lose weight, to spend time with her family based there, and "syempre, dahil ang daming nangyari dito, I just had to get away." The 23-year-old actress, who was last seen in the primetime series "Walang Hanggan," was all-smiles in relating why she and Castillo had seemed evasive about discussing their separation. Apart from Castillo's confirmation of the break-up in July on "The Buzz," Ricks noted they weren't able to explain fully the reason behind the "amicable" decision to part ways. "Kasi si Paul Jake, hindi siya marunong sumagot sa mga interviews. Sabi niya, 'Ikaw na 'yan, ikaw na 'yan.' Tinatanong niya ako what he would say, kasi nga hindi naman siya super showbiz. Eh ako, I've been in the industry for so long. And minsan, mali 'yung nasasabi niya, so sabi niya, ako nalang sumagot," Ricks said. Saving friendship Now that she is back in the Philippines, the actress was asked if she can finally shed light on the break-up. Pausing to collect her thoughts, Ricks began by saying, "There's no... solid reason kung bakit. Siguro we just cherished the friendship more than anything else." "Kasi nung end part na ng relationship, lagi kaming nag-aaway, laging nagkakainitan ng ulo. Minsan hindi kami magkausap kahit magkasama kami, and we don't know why," she said. Denying there was any third party in the one-year relationship, Ricks continued, "'Yung care nando'n pa rin, 'yung love nando'n pa rin, pero maybe it's better na tapusin na habang hindi pa magulo." Asked if there is any chance that they will get back together, considering they remain good friends, Ricks related both she and Castillo had exhausted efforts to salvage their relationship. "I don't have regrets na I didn't try to fix it. So ako, if it didn't work out, e 'di hindi. Ako, I tried everthing that I could, he did also, and if it's not going to work... Kung ipipilit mo, masisira lang kayong dalawa, gugulo lang kayong dalawa. "I've experienced that before, and I don't want that to happen again, kasi mas mabigat 'yun eh," said, Ricks who was previously in a relationship with actor Jake Cuenca. Not closing doors on love On whether she considers Castillo as her "greatest love," Ricks surmised her relationship with the newbie actor may have been "the right love at the wrong time." "Maybe we were just meant to be friends, or maybe... I don't know. But for me, before akala ko wala na akong makikitang iba. And then Paul Jake came unexpectedly, so ang iniisip ko nalang now, in the future, malay mo, there's someone better out there for us," she said. Pointing out there is no one courting her as of now, the actress said she is nonetheless open to being in a new relationship. As to whether she is ready for it, Ricks recalled when she started forming close ties with Castillo. "You know, you never can say. Kasi when I met Paul Jake nga, I wasn't even ready and bigla nalang nangyari, 'yung na-inlove ka sa kanya, nakilala mo siya, na-develop ka. So I don't think there's any time na masasabi mo na, 'Ay, ready na ako.' Darating din 'yan," she said.

Melissa on ex Jake Cuenca: Of course we're not friends!

MANILA -- "No, of course not!" This was Melissa Ricks' quick response when asked if she has managed to become friends again with Jake Cuenca, with whom she admittedly had a "bad break-up" in 2011. The 23-year-old actress appeared cheerful on Friday as she discussed her six-week vacation in the United States, as well as her "amicable" separation from former "Pinoy Big Brother" housemate Paul Jake Castillo. Ricks visibly shifted dispositions, however, when Cuenca's name was brought up, as the actor supposedly said in a recent interview that he is "trying to fix things" with the actress. Asked to address the supposed statement from the actor, Ricks triggered laughter when she appeared to compose herself. Taking a deep breath, the actress said, "Paano ba natin masasabi sa magandang paraan?" "Kasi ako, if you're going to say something, you better just say it truthfully. Hindi 'yung magsasabi ka lang para maganda ka tingnan ng tao, or so you seem like a better person. If you are doing something, you don't have to tell other people or tell the whole world before you do it," Ricks said. Since the former "Walang Hangan" actress confirmed her break-up with Cuenca in May 2011, she has been firm on refusing to reveal the cause of their separation. While Cuenca acknowledged "disputes" with Ricks in an interview in July, the actor otherwise only had good words for the former teen star. Recalling his tumultuous romance with Ricks, Cuenca said, "Isang katangian naman ni Mel, she's girlfriend material, super. Kung sino man ang lalaki na sumunod sa akin, o kung sino man naging boyfriend niya, napakswerte nila." Explaining why they broke up, the actor continued, "It's just, in my time, maybe I wasn't mature enough to have handled a relationship like that... But despite our disputes, never did I say anything bad about her."

Paul Jake speaks up on split with Melissa

MANILA -- Former "Pinoy Big Brother" Paul Jake Castillo talked about his breakup with actress Melissa Ricks in a television interview aired on Friday. On "Kris TV," Castillo admitted that he initiated the split, saying that their relationship is "not working." "I think it's mutual, pero more of me. It's not working," he explained. "She was really perfect, sobrang bait niya, sobrang supportive. I don't know how to put it in words, pero siguro it's the small things that I get annoyed with. It's not her, it's a me kind of thing." "[We're] not fighting all the time but, you know, 'yung kapag nasa car medyo quiet lang [kami]. I guess that's my problem also. For example nag-aaway 'o sige, my fault na. O sige, para matapos na,'" he added. Castillo said he and Ricks still get to see each other after the breakup. "We still go out together, watch a movie, papa-foot massage pa kami. I guess it's better that way [kasi] hindi na kami laging nag-aaway," he said. "There's no reason to burn bridges," he added. Castillo went on to give advice to women, sharing what he thinks they should avoid when they are in a relationship. "The girls in general, I guess I will be speaking for my friends and I na lang. Siguro it's being clingy. I guess sa mga married friends ko naman, when I talk to my friends, I guess walang life. He doesn't have his own life, she doesn't have her own life. Dapat she has her own life, he has his own life. 'Yung huwag magsusumbat sa oras," he said. Last month, Castillo confirmed on "The Buzz" that he and Ricks amicably ended their relationship, which lasted for more than a year.
