Paulo Avelino reacts to KC's Twitter post

MANILA – Paulo Avelino said he did not intend to make it appear that he and KC Concepcion are already serious with each other after he admitted on national television that he is currently going out with the actress. This is what Avelino told entertainment website Pep.ph when asked for his reaction following Concepcion’s post on Twitter that she is not exclusively dating anyone. “Like what I’ve said in the interview, we’re dating. Dating with me is having dinner, talking -- nothing more than that,” he said. Avelino, who is not used to sharing details about his private life, said he is hoping his “Buzz ng Bayan” interview would be the last time he would talk about his personal life. “Well, sana last na 'yun. Siguro 'yung mga sinabi ko lately contradicts what I’ve been saying. I really would want to keep a private life, a very quiet and peaceful life," he said. Asked how he would feel if he gets the approval of Concepcion’s mom, veteran actress Sharon Cuneta, the “Honesto” actor said: “Of course, kung happy naman si KC, kahit naman siguro sinong nanay, kung nakikita sigurong masaya yung anak niya, siyempre magiging happy siya.” However, he quickly added that he is not sure whether he’s the only person making Concepcion happy. “Pero I’m sure there are a lot of things na nagpapasaya kay KC,” he said

Coming right on the heels of the admission about his break up with now ex-girlfriend LJ Reyes, the ever-shy Paulo Avelino, much to the viewer’s surprise, revealed that he is actually seeing someone new at the moment and that someone is none other than KC Concepcion. The revelation came after he was asked by host Boy Abunda if he was friends with the actress-host during his live appearance at “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, a question which was followed up by Carmina Villaroel with “Do you like her?” Shocking everyone, including the hosts, he replied with “Well yeah we’re dating.” When asked to share how things are going for them, the ever-so-private Honesto star’s response was: “Siguro I just wanna keep things private.” However, he said that he’s “happy” at the moment. According to Paulo, he has known the daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta for a couple of years now. In fact, he even recalled that his first project since transferring to the Kapamilya network two years ago, which is a Maalaala Mo Kaya episode was actually with her. Three weeks ago, the former Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala star hogged headlines and shocked the Netizens after posting a collage of photos seemingly having a good time with NBA player Chandler Parsons on her Instagram account. "Mabuhay! So much to see, so little time! Fun night with my ladiez & the big boys. @chandlerparsons," the photo’s caption read. Recall that the NBA teams Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers came into the country weeks ago for a pre-season game held in Pasay City last October 10 which was also attended by KC. Days later, KC, who was also very quiet about her personal life off late, dismissed any romance with the basketball star saying that “"Friends kami, yun lang yon!" According to Paulo, he didn’t even get jealous about KC’s friendly date with the American cager. "Sakin kasi Tito Boy, hindi rin talaga ako seloso. I try to think about things first before I really say anything or bring it out. Nasabi niya naman ‘yung totoo. Wala naman [sigurong issue].” But how did he learn about that night out? Has KC personally informed him about the said date? “It was all over social media,” said he. Recall that Paulo was in a relationship for almost four years with LJ, with whom she had a son named Ethan Akio. While KC’s last relationship was with actor Piolo Pascual but he was last wooed by French director Pierre-Emmanuel Plassart.

Paulo Avelino who plays Diego Layer in Honesto said the new teleserye is more than just a family drama. Tatay ako ni Honesto,” he said. Paulo said he had no hesitation accepting the role because he is a father in real life as well. “I want to portray roles that are new and bago sa akin. I haven’t portrayed anything like this before,” he admitted. His working relationship with new child star Raikko Mateo (who plays Honesto) is another reason why he is happy to be part of the show. “Okay siya very jolly and honest yung bata for a five-year-old kid. So far hindi ko pa talaga nakaka-eksena ng matagal yung bata pero sa mga nagawa naming photo shoots and teasers, okay naman. Magaan katrabaho,” he added. When asked about his personal life, Paulo said he can now openly admit that he and actress LJ Reyes (mother of his son Ethan) have decided to part ways. The 25-year-old actor admitted his current relationship status is “single and complicated.” “Siguro I’ve been aloof answering questions. Hindi naman ako nagsisingungaling pero I’m a very private person and marami rin naman sa buhay ko ang ayokong… I just want my personal life away from the public as much as possible. Ayoko ring magbigay ng specific date pero medyo. It was a mutual decision. Sinisiguro ko na may oras ako para sa bata. Pag wala akong ginagawa, I try as much as possible to spend it with my son,” he said. The Honesto star also clarified rumors that he had attempted suicide because of the stress in his personal and professional life. “Well it’s not true. Hindi naman. I won’t be affected by something that’s not true. First of all I’m here and nung pumutok yung balita I was working dire-diretso siguro for a whole week and nagulat rin ako and nagising na lang ako na may tumatawag sa akin (laughs),” he shared. Paulo admitted he did go through a low point in his life but does not want to label it as depression. “Siguro normal naman yun sa tao na nalulungkot, sumasaya (laughs). I wouldn’t call it depression. I would call it something normal na pinagdadaanan ng isang tao,” he explained. The talented actor said he is okay now but chooses to keep the rest of the details to himself. “Sa akin na lang yun. Sabi nga nila time heals so yun oras lang talaga, oras to think about things,” he added. Although he is very much single right now, Paulo said his son and his career are his two priorities now. “Magmahal ulit? Ako I will not rush it pero kung ibibigay, may darating at mararamdaman ko, bakit hindi?” he said.

Kasi kumbaga sa personal lives natin ay ang dami nating kasinungalingan there are lot of situations that we need to be honest and the people around us, sa family at work. Paulo works with Angel for first time in 'MMK'

MANILA -- Actor Paulo Avelino will finally be working with actress Angel Locsin for the first time on an episode for ABS-CBN's top-rating drama anthology "Maalaala Mo Kaya." Avelino is doing an "MMK" episode with Locsin after reports surfaced that he allegedly refused to work with the actress. The "Walang Hanggan" actor had backed out of Locsin's upcoming series which has the working title "Hanggang Kailan Kita Mamahalin," which they were supposed to headline. But in a previous interview, Locsin said she understands that Avelino has an important personal matter to attend to. “Sinabi sa akin na hindi nga daw matutuloy. May common friend kami na nag-explain na mayroon yatang personal problem si Paulo na kailangan niya i-prioritize. Hindi ko alam kung nai-share niya sa inyo, pero 'yun lang ang masasabi ko. Naiintindihan ko naman iyon, kailangan niya talaga unahin 'yun,” she said. Also part of the upcoming series are Maja Salvador and Jericho Rosales. In her official Twitter account on Monday, Locsin confirmed that she's now taping "MMK" with Avelino.

JC de Vera denies row with Paulo Avelino

MANILA – Actor JC de Vera denied that he and fellow Kapamulya actor Paulo Avelino are not in good terms after it was reported that he is dating actress LJ Reyes, the mother of Avelino’s child. In an interview with entertainment site Pep.ph after the Cosmo Bachelor Bash on Tuesday, de Vera said commenting about the matter will only add fuel to the fire, which should not have been there in the first place. "Hindi naman kami magkaaway," he briefly said. "This time lang ako sasagot. ‘Di ko papatulan ['yung issue]. Wala akong dapat sagutin." De Vera said he and Reyes are just friends even though he had admitted in the past that they have gone out a couple of times with a larger group. In a preview interview with ABS-CBN News, Avelino shrugged off reports romantically linking his former girlfriend to the new Kapamilya actor. Avelino said he doesn't see anything wrong if indeed Reyes and de Vera are dating. “Ako, hindi ko alam. Siguro mas okay kung tanungin ninyo na lang sila. Pero sa akin, wala, wala naman. Happy, happy naman daw ang lahat,” he said. Avelino joined the Kapamilya network in 2011, while de Vera just inked a deal with ABS-CBN last July.

"Wala masyadong work, pero I've got two films coming out for Cinemalaya -- one is called 'Sana Dati' under Jerrold Tarog, and the other is 'Debosyon' under Alvin Yapan," Avelino told ABS-CBN News at the sidelines of the recent outdoor concert event Ginuman Fest 2013. Both film entries to the annual Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival mark Avelino's return to the indie scene, after having won his first Best Actor trophy for his role in "Ang Sayaw ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa," also a Cinemalaya entry in 2011. "'Sana Dati' is a story about a videographer and the bride, so parang magugulo 'yung kasal. At kung bakit, abangan niyo," the actor related. Also starring Lovi Poe, TJ Trinidad and Benjamin Alves, the Metric Films production is billed as the third part of the "Camera Trilogy" by Tarog, who is also behind the films "Confessional" (2007) and "Mangatyanan" (2009). "'Yung 'Debosyon' naman is about a devotee of the Birhen Peñafrancia of Bicol and a girl. Love story din. Ako ang devotee," Avelino said. Both written and directed by Yapan, "Debosyon" also stars Mara Lopez. Asked whether he hopes to win another Best Actor trophy for either film, Avelino said, "Actually ako naman, I've worked with these teams a couple of times, and I just want the films to be seen." "Sana kung kaya buong Pilipinas mapanood 'yung pelikula, mas okay, para mas ma-appreciate ng mga tao. Hopefully maging nationwide at sana magustuhan ng mga Pilipino," he said. For now, Avelino's return to indie will be shown for a limited time when Cinemalaya 2013 kicks off its 10-day run on July 26 in cinemas at the Cultural Center of the Philippines in Pasay City, Greenbelt 3 in Makati City, and Trinoma in Quezon City.
