Paulo Avelino opens up about breakup with LJ

MANILA - Actor Paulo Avelino finally admitted that he and long-time girlfriend LJ Reyes ended their relationship. In an interview on Thursday during the launch of his newt series "Honesto," Avelino said that they separated amicably. "Single and complicated. ... ayaw kong magbigay ng date pero medyo (matagal na kaming hiwalay)," Avelino told reporters. "Mutual decision yun (yung hiwalayan)," he added. Avelino and Reyes have a child. "Sinisiguro ko na may oras ako kapag wala akong ginagawa I tried to spend most of the time," he said. Avelino also faced the issue that he committed suicide. "It's not true. Nandito ako ngayon. Ang daming tumawag sa akin noon pero sabi ko natutulog lang ako," he said. Asked if he suffered from depression, Avelino said: "Well siguro normal sa tao na nalulungkot, sumasaya. I won't call it depression siguro normal lang na pinagdadaanan ng tao." "Sa akin, time heals all wounds," he said, when asked of how he coped with the sadness. "Ako kung magmahal ulit I won't rush it pero kung ibibigay at mararamdaman ko bakit hindi?" Avelino said. 'Honesto' Avelino said he is excited to be part "Honesto" with Kapamilya's newest child star Raikko Matteo. In the soap, Avelino will be playing the father of the soap's lead character Honesto. "Tatay ako ni Honesto. First time na father role for ABS-CBN. Very jolly yung bata and very honest, di ko pa nakaka-eksena ng matagal ang bata pero based sa ginawa photoshoot at teaser ay OK naman. Magaan ka-trabaho," "The project is very timely but we would limit it sa nangyayari sa gobyerno natin. Kasi kumbaga sa personal lives natin ay ang dami nating kasinungalingan there are lot of situations that we need to be honest and the people around us, sa family at work. Ito ay para maturan ang mga bata ngayon at madala nila yung value ng honesty," Avelino said. "Ako I'm proud to do this kasi yun talaga ang asal na importante na kailangan nating lahat na Pilipino kailangan ng lahat ng mga tao, kailangan nating maging tapat at sana ay makita ito ng lahat ng manonood ng Honesto kung gaano kahalaga ang katapatan," he added. "Honesto" will premiere on Monday after TV Patrol, replacing "Juan dela Cruz."
