If there's one person Miley Cyrus can count on, it's her mom, Tish. In her MTV special, Miley: The Movement, the 20-year-old singer opens up about their relationship while rehearsing for the MTV Video Music Awards in mid-August. "My mom is my homie," Miley tells the camera. "If I win, she wins. Not because she's my manager—because she's my mom."
Tish, whose parenting style has been questioned in the past, insists that she's always been a hands-on mom. She addresses anyone who's ever asked, "Where's her mother?" by explaining that she's been "right beside" Miley all along. "Through good, through bad, through arguments, through crying, through I don't care what—right there," Tish says.
Miley certainly appreciates the support. "I think she keeps me, like, less anxious," the singerexplains, "because I do get so overwhelmed when I'm gonna perform because everything has to be perfect."
Miley: The Movement premieres Wednesday, Oct. 2, at 10 p.m. ET/PT.
