Anne Curtis has been dominating the social media scene as the first Filipina to ever reach five million followers on Twitter and one million on Instagram, putting her in the ranks of international stars such as Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber and Taylor Swift, among others. Anne adds yet another first on her growing list. This time, as the first Filipina to have an E! News Asia Special. The Asian franchise of the popular American entertainment news channel has chosen to dedicate an entire special on the multi-faceted actress, singer, and television host which they announced during an event at the Buddha Bar on August 29. The Its’ Showtime host who was present at the event shared with Push.com.ph and other members of the press that being chosen as the first Filipino celebrity to be featured on the show serves as an affirmation of all the hard work that she has put into her slow climb to success. “It gives you that sense of achievement of the 16 years that you’ve been striving to reach or make a name for yourself,” the AnneBisyosa performer started. What started as dreams of having her own show, her own billboard, and eventually her own trophy all began materializing right in front of her according to Anne. “You get floored and then you just can be thankful and this [the special] happening now it really gives you that sense of achievement that I didn’t make a mistake when I told my Dad I want to stay here in the Philippines [because] I want to pursue what I’m doing,” she enthused while adding that she now knows that she made a right decision 16 years ago. This special, according to Anne, is also her first-ever international exclusive feature, which makes the entire experience even more memorable. To get an in-depth look into her life as a private person and as a showbiz personality, Anne said the crew dug deeper to her past experiences and asked tough yet refreshing questions. Meanwhile, to add dimension to her entire persona, the show’s crew also spoke with some of her loved ones and closest friends. But even if she’s thrilled about the feature since she’s yet to see the output, Anne didn’t mask her nervousness over what her loved ones could have said about her, especially her best friend, Minute to Win it host Luis Manzano. The 28-year-old actress said she believes that if there’s one person who would most likely add color to the entire feature by dishing out the juiciest details about her it would definitely be him because “he knows the good and bad side of me… and he’s someone who knows me for who I really am.” The show’s crew, Anne shared, practically tailed her around town as she fulfilled engagements. One of the many events that Anne graced which they were able to cover was the garage sale that she organized recently together with co-host Vice Ganda. Through that particular event the Fil-Australian said she hopes that she was able to embody the Filipino spirit to whoever would be the viewers of her feature. “How we’re all smiling even if we’re tired, how we keep on going. That’s something that I think we’re able to feature when they were following me around,” said Anne. Asked which part of the feature was she most proud of, Anne quickly responded that it would have to be segment about It’s Showtime because “It’s us sharing what other countries might not have which is having a noontime variety show. Not a lot of people understand that. My dad doesn’t understand that when we first came here, but it’s part of our culture that would be something I would be proud to share across Asia.” Get an in-depth look into Anne’s exciting life, struggles and rise to fame on E! News Special: Anne Curtis, premiering on September 29 at 7:30 p.m. (Skycable Channel 57, Cignal Channel 25, and Cablelink Channel 33).
