MANILA – Tears welled up as television host Charlene Gonzales recalled on Sunday how she wasn’t able to spend with her biological father.
This came after “The Buzz” showed the video made by actress Jackie Forster seeking the forgiveness of her sons with PBA legend Benjie Paras.
Forster's sons had earlier said in a televised interview they wanted "space" from their mother, explaining they were tramautized of something she had done in the past.
“Nakaka-relate din ako. Open secret na 'yung mom ko was a single parent, but there will come a time as a child that you will be able to accept 'yung sitwasyon kung ano man talaga ang sitwasyon,” Gonzales said.
Gonzales shared that she grew up with only her mom by her side and that she never had the chance to bond with her biological father.
“It was a circumstance na naging ganun na lang ang buhay mo na lumaki ka away from your real father. It’s not because na ganun ang gusto mo sa buhay mo, it was just because of the circumstances. I look back and regret na sana nagkaroon din ako ng chance to get to know him more,” she said.
While saying that she cannot speak for Forster’s sons because she does not know the whole story behind their rift, Gonzales nonetheless urged all children to tell their parents how much they love them while they are still alive.
“Growing up, you will always have this pain in your heart. You just have to get over your pride and your feelings and harapin mo ang sitwasyon because one day, one of the biggest and hardest things in life is really not being able to say what you want to say because they are not with us anymore,” she said.
Gonzales’ biological father died two years ago.
“For anyone who is in the same situation, if there’s any conflict sa inyong dalawa, ayusin niyo na while you still have a chance. Napakaimportante to be able to say I forgive you, I love you and let’s start all over,” she said.
The former beauty queen, however, noted that the feelings of Forster’s children should also be considered.
