MANILA, Philippines -- Teen actress Julia Barretto clarified that her father, actor Dennis Padilla, is supportive of her showbiz career.
"Hindi naman sa ayaw niya. Nakausap ko siya about that. Ever since bata pa ako siya pa 'yung supportive about acting. So kung masabi ko sa kanya about 'Cofradia' sobrang mae-excite 'yon," said Barretto, referring to her upcoming ABS-CBN television adaptation of "Cofradia."
Barretto also stressed that she has a good relationship with her father.
"Okay kami, my siblings and daddy namin," said the young actress who gets to see her father whenever they have free time.
But when asked about her mother, Marjorie Barretto, who is not in good terms with Padilla, the teenager said: "Look at me naman, okay ako. Napaka-happy ko. Walang time for sadness. Let's stay positive in life. Hindi ko na 'yon problem, sa kanila na 'yon."
Asked of her reaction on Padilla's prediction that she can be the next Claudine Barretto, she replied: "Wow, grabe! Sobrang compliment 'yon kasi si Tita Claudine napakagaling niyang actress. Nakaka-flatter siya kasi parang sinasabi niya na magiging magaling ako. Thank you, Papa."
