The program, hosted by ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual and teen actress Janella Salvador, will air its first episode at 9 p.m. Sunday (November 17) on Jeepney TV or SkyCable channel 9. The debut offering of "Biyaheng Retro" will feature the stories of several celebrities including "Be Careful With My Heart" star Richard Yap, basketball player-turned-actor Benjie Paras, and film actress Alice Dixson. Yap, for instance, landed his first TV ad in 1990, which made him reconsider his ambitions of becoming a doctor. His ongoing soap on ABS-CBN is now the No. 1 daytime program in the country. 'Be Careful With My Heart' movie aims for 39th MMFF

MANILA - A big-screen version of the hit ABS-CBN daytime series "Be Careful With My Heart," and a horror film starring the "love team" of teen stars Daniel Padilla and Kathryn Bernardo are among the films being screened for the 39th Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). Richard Yap, who portrays a widowed businessman in "Be Careful With My Heart," told ABS-CBN News that the movie version of the series will serve as a continuation of the love story of his character "Sir Chief" and actress Jodi Sta. Maria's Maya. "It's going to be a different story from 'Be Careful.' Para siyang continuation, hindi siya 'yung condensed version. Richard Yap to record first solo album

MANILA – Actor Richard Yap is adding another feather in his cap as he inked a deal for his first solo album with Star Records on Thursday. According to Yap’s contract with ABS-CBN’s record label, the album will contain covers and possibly original songs -- including one in Chinese. “We’ll be doing about eight to 10 songs in this album, combination of Tagalog, English and maybe one Chinese song. I’m very excited because this is going to be a solo album. Hopefully matanggap ng mga tao yung ambisyon natin to be a singer,” he told ABS-CBN News in an interview. Yap said he has been musically inclined since he was young and this opportunity to record his own album is like a dream come true. “Actually there was someone who wanted to write original songs pero hindi pa namin napag-usapan. Most of them [covers] siguro. Hindi pa na-finalize so hindi ko pa alam,” he said. Asked what genre of music he is into, Yap said: “More on ballad siguro. MANILA, Philippines -- A film version of the hit "kilig-serye" starring Jodi Sta. Maria and Richard Yap will reportedly join this year's Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). According to a report published Thursday on entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portal, Star Cinema's entry to the 39th edition of the annual film festival is a big-screen version of "Be Careful With My Heart." The TV series directed by Jeffrey Jeturian and Mervyn Brondial is currently the No. 1 daytime series in the Philippines, according to date from multinational market research group Kantar Media. It tells the story of Maya (Sta. Maria), an aspiring flight attendant who leaves the province for Manila to pursue her dreams. Her life plan takes a detour when she becomes the maid of the family of widowed businessman, Richard Lim or "Sir Chief" (Yap), for whom she later develops romantic feelings. First aired in July 2012 and originally set for a one-season run, "Be Careful With My Heart" has been extended numerous times due to its popularity, and is now close to airing for a year. In April, ABS-CBN president and chief executive officer Charo Santos-Concio said in jest that the series will stay on air "forever," when asked if it will be extended once again. "It will be there forever (laughs). Hanggang magkaroon ng apo (laughs). That's always a challenge for our content creators. Listen to Sir Chief's first solo single

MANILA, Philippines -- ABS-CBN's record label Star Records released on Thursday the first single of actor Richard Yap, more popularly known as Sir Chief in the hit daytime series "Be Careful With My Heart." Titled "Salamat," the track features music by Christian Martinez. The lyrics of the song talks of constant companionship despite challenges. The chorus goes: "Salamat sa iyo, kasa-kasama ko sa hirap at ginhawa sa mundo/ Pagsbuok ng tadhana, ikaw gustong kasama/ Mula sa'yo aking saya/ Sarap karamay sa mundo, sarap karamay sa mundao, mahal ko." The single is not included the official soundtrack of "Be Careful With My Heart," although it remains unclear if "Salamat" will be part of a full album by the 45-year-old actor.
