Paulo Avelino reacts to KC's Twitter post

MANILA – Paulo Avelino said he did not intend to make it appear that he and KC Concepcion are already serious with each other after he admitted on national television that he is currently going out with the actress. This is what Avelino told entertainment website Pep.ph when asked for his reaction following Concepcion’s post on Twitter that she is not exclusively dating anyone. “Like what I’ve said in the interview, we’re dating. Dating with me is having dinner, talking -- nothing more than that,” he said. Avelino, who is not used to sharing details about his private life, said he is hoping his “Buzz ng Bayan” interview would be the last time he would talk about his personal life. “Well, sana last na 'yun. Siguro 'yung mga sinabi ko lately contradicts what I’ve been saying. I really would want to keep a private life, a very quiet and peaceful life," he said. Asked how he would feel if he gets the approval of Concepcion’s mom, veteran actress Sharon Cuneta, the “Honesto” actor said: “Of course, kung happy naman si KC, kahit naman siguro sinong nanay, kung nakikita sigurong masaya yung anak niya, siyempre magiging happy siya.” However, he quickly added that he is not sure whether he’s the only person making Concepcion happy. “Pero I’m sure there are a lot of things na nagpapasaya kay KC,” he said

Paulo Avelino admits dating KC Concepcion

110413-Paolo-main.jpg

Coming right on the heels of the admission about his break up with now ex-girlfriend LJ Reyes, the ever-shy Paulo Avelino, much to the viewer’s surprise, revealed that he is actually seeing someone new at the moment and that someone is none other than KC Concepcion. The revelation came after he was asked by host Boy Abunda if he was friends with the actress-host during his live appearance at “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, a question which was followed up by Carmina Villaroel with “Do you like her?” Shocking everyone, including the hosts, he replied with “Well yeah we’re dating.” When asked to share how things are going for them, the ever-so-private Honesto star’s response was: “Siguro I just wanna keep things private.” However, he said that he’s “happy” at the moment. According to Paulo, he has known the daughter of Megastar Sharon Cuneta for a couple of years now. In fact, he even recalled that his first project since transferring to the Kapamilya network two years ago, which is a Maalaala Mo Kaya episode was actually with her. Three weeks ago, the former Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala star hogged headlines and shocked the Netizens after posting a collage of photos seemingly having a good time with NBA player Chandler Parsons on her Instagram account. "Mabuhay! So much to see, so little time! Fun night with my ladiez & the big boys. @chandlerparsons," the photo’s caption read. Recall that the NBA teams Houston Rockets and Indiana Pacers came into the country weeks ago for a pre-season game held in Pasay City last October 10 which was also attended by KC. Days later, KC, who was also very quiet about her personal life off late, dismissed any romance with the basketball star saying that “"Friends kami, yun lang yon!" According to Paulo, he didn’t even get jealous about KC’s friendly date with the American cager. "Sakin kasi Tito Boy, hindi rin talaga ako seloso. I try to think about things first before I really say anything or bring it out. Nasabi niya naman ‘yung totoo. Wala naman [sigurong issue].” But how did he learn about that night out? Has KC personally informed him about the said date? “It was all over social media,” said he. Recall that Paulo was in a relationship for almost four years with LJ, with whom she had a son named Ethan Akio. While KC’s last relationship was with actor Piolo Pascual but he was last wooed by French director Pierre-Emmanuel Plassart.

KC on NBA player: Friends kami, 'yun lang yon!

MANILA -- Actress KC Concepcion stressed that she and Houston Rockets' Chandler Parsons are not dating. "Friends kami, yun lang yon!" Concepcion said in her guesting on "Kris TV" hosted by Kris Aquino, which was aired on Tuesday. In the show, Concepcion shared that all she did was organize a welcome dinner for Parsons, who visited Manila with his teammates for the NBA Global Games early this month. "Nagpa-welcome dinner ako. Tapos dito kami sa Fort, we were 15. Ayaw ko nang pag-usapan kasi umalis na sila. I was with my sisters, he was with his other teammates, and I was with my friends. "Ang dami namin, we made them taste Pinoy food at Aracama, pero actually malapit na siya sa Prive at saka sa Imperial. Kasi strict 'yung security nila para doon lang kami sa isang area, 'yun lang. ... Medyo kinailangan kong i-explain kung ano ang sisig kasi may sisig lumpia at kung ano ang fishballs, ganoon," she said. The actress, who refused to give further details about their dinner, maintained that she and Parsons are just friends. About watching Parsons' game in Manila, Concepcion said: "Nanood ako [ng game]. It was my first time, wala akong alam sa basketball unlike you (talking to Aquino). It was my first time to see a live game, it was nice. Kasi nga a lot of people saw us tweeting kaya siguro nalagyan ng anggulo na parang romance angle because they've been seeing us tweet. Pero wala, we are friends, they had a good time, we had a good time." Earlier on Instagram, Concepcion posted a photo collage of her meeting with Parsons with the caption: "Mabuhay! So much to see, so little time! Fun night with my ladiez & the big boys. @chandlerparsons."

LOOK: KC supports Chandler Parsons at NBA game

MANILA (UPDATED) - KC Concepcion, who has confirmed meeting Houston Rockets player Chandler Parsons, was spotted Thursday night at the NBA Global Games in Pasay City. The 28-year-old actress-host was seen watching the NBA pre-season match at the Mall of Asia Arena, and reportedly applauded when Parsons scored against the Indiana Pacers. The Houston Rockets defeated the Indiana Pacers, 116-96. "It's really exciting," Concepcion told ABS-CBN News shortly after the game. "It's my first time to watch a live basketball show. At nakaka-proud na maging Pilipino, na tayo pa ang nag-host sa isang legit NBA game." On Instagram, the "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" star also shared a photo of her with a friend inside the MOA Arena. Concepcion, in the image's caption, thanked Parsons for the "great seats to a great game." Concepcion earlier made headlines when she posted a collage of photos showing her "fun night" with Parsons, who earlier confirmed having dinner with the actress this week. "We had dinner last night," Parsons said on Wednesday. "We had a mutual friend who put us in contact, and hopefully we can do some work together in the future here. She's a great girl, and I had a good time last night." Photo from KC Concepcion's Instagram account In the collage posted by Concepcion on her Instagram page, she is seen posing with Parsons' group, along with her celebrity sisters Garrie and Chloe. Its caption read: "Mabuhay! So much to see, so little time! Fun night with my ladiez & the big boys." Concepcion was first linked to Parsons in May, when TV host Kris Aquino teased her about an unnamed basketball player during an interview on the latter's morning talk show. Aquino hinted that the athlete is a member of the Houston Rockets. Parsons and Concepcion's exchange of tweets early this year also stirred speculation of a brewing romance among the actress' fans. Parsons, however, reportedly has a girlfriend named Robyn Crowley.

KC Concepcion gathers fans for relief efforts

Actress laments 'yearly' disasters MANILA -- KC Concepcion has tapped the help of her fans in extending the reach of relief efforts for the victims of the torrential rains and floods that have hit parts of Metro Manila and surrounding provinces this week. The 28-year-old actress-host, along with "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" co-star Judy Ann Santos, launched Wednesday a relief drive for storm-hit residents in Cavite and Taguig City. Speaking with ABS-CBN News at the sidelines of the filming for the primetime series, Concepcion said she has coordinated with former actor and Cavite Vice-Governor Jolo Revilla to help transport relief goods to flood victims in the province. Cavite, Concepcion noted, is one of the worst affected areas by rains and floods brought by the southwest monsoon and Tropical Storm "Maring." As of Wednesday afternoon, six casualties have already been reported in Cavite, which has been placed under a state of calamity. Volunteering fans Concepcion, who is also the Philippines' National Ambassador Against Hunger under the United Nation's (UN) World Food Programme, also set up relief operations in Taguig on Wednesday. The actress, along with Santos, brought freshly cooked meals to flood victims in the city, where Concepcion is based. "Si Ate Juday (Santos) 'yung nagpaluto ng mga hot meals, para naman mainitan 'yung tiyan ng mga [storm] victims na nasa mga evacuation centers, kasi iba parin 'yung pakiramdam pag merong hot meal na pumpasok sa katawan, lalo na 'yun, baha," Concepcion said. In order to efficiently distribute goods to storm-hit residents, Concepcion said her fans have volunteered to take part in the operation. "Tutulong din ako, along with my supporters who are helping with the initiatives, sa Taguig... Mga fans 'yung mga di-distribute doon para nakakalat 'yung mga tulong namin, kasi nagta-trabaho pa ako so hindi pa ako makaalis ng set. So I called on the help ng mga fans para makarating doon 'yung mga food. "My fans have always been willing to support, have always showed... 'yung nagbo-volunteer sila na sumama sa akin sa mga sites. It's my way narin of getting more help," she said. 'Why every year?' Although Concepcion, as in previous years, is always ready to lend help to victims of rains and floods, the actress said she regrets the seeming dependence on remedial measures following natural disasters. "'Yung iba kasi nasasanay na sa ganitong disaster... Pero siguro may paraan din kung paano natin maiwasan na maging national disaster 'yung ganito at tumigil 'yung buong mundo natin dahil sa baha. "Marami namang paraan na maprotektahan pa tayong mga Pinoy. Marami pang ways na maramdaman natin na protektado tayo, 'diba. Kaya sana... kasi every year narin naman nangyayari 'to," she said. Concepcion is referring to the deadly and destructive typhoons and floods in the Philippines in recent years, including disasters brought by "Ondoy" and "Pepeng" in 2009, "Juan" in 2010, "Pedring" and "Sendong" in 2011, and "Pablo" in 2012. "Hindi naman pwedeng every year, parating relief at rescue na lang. I mean, bakit kailangan mangyari 'yung ganito when there are ways of preventing it altogether?" she said.

KC credits Juday for kontrabida turn

MANILA, Philippines -- Actress KC Concepcion is thankful to actress Judy Ann Santos for pushing her in her bida-kontrabida role in ABS-CBN's hit series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" with Sam Milby. In the primetime series, Concepcion plays the role of Alexis, who has an affair with Eros (Milby), the abusive husband of Anessa (Santos). "She believe in me, more than I believe myself. That's something I have to thank her for. Kasi sa totoo lang grabe ang response na nakikita ko o naririnig ko sa mga tao. Ito 'yung time na kapag naglalakad ako sa mall o kahit dito sa studio ang tawag sa akin ay Alexis and it's only been wala pang two weeks. Ang ganda ng feeling but at the same time gusto ko silang, 'oy si KC ako hindi ako si Alexis.' But there's a lot of Alexis in everybody, I always say there's Alexis in everyone," she said. Concepcion said viewers can expect more exciting scenes in the upcoming episodes of the soap. "Naku po, sa lahat ng nagmamahal na at naasar na kay Alexis, there's more. We can't wait to give you more dito sa 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,'" she said. "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" airs weeknights after "Juan dela Cruz."

Judy Ann: I had to hurt KC

Young superstar overwhelmed by raves for new series MANILA -- KC Concepcion was admittedly hurt and even "saw stars" when Judy Ann Santos slapped her for a scene in the prime time series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala." Santos, who is known to be close friends with Concepcion, said "it was a scene that had to be done," when asked for her reaction to the younger actress' earlier statement that she had felt the slap's impact on her jaw. "May mga bagay na kailangan mo i-set aside para magampanan mo nang maayos 'yung istorya at 'yung character mo, and 'yun iyon," Santos told reporters on Tuesday night. The 35-year-old actress further explained that the heightened "tension" in the scene was the result of events involving her and Conepcion's characters. In the Primetime Bida series, which debuted Monday, Santos portrays the strong-willed and hard-working Anessa, a young woman from a poor family who falls for Eros (Sam Milby), a rich businessman. Concepcion, on the other hand, takes on her first "kontrabida" role as Alexis, a woman "blinded" by her love for Eros, and whose obssession for the man drives her to make Anessa's life a living hell. "Kung babasahin mo kasi 'yung mga eksenang pinagdaanan," Santos said, "Bago 'yung part na kailangan ko siyang sampalin ulit, masyado nang matindi 'yung sitwasyon." "So 'yung mismong eksena, nakakadala. And at the same time, kailangan mong pag-aralan 'yung takbo, 'yung growth ng storya naming dalawa," she said. Although the physical confrontation between Anessa and Alexis has yet to air, it was seen as one of the highlights of the full trailer for "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" released leading up to its premiere. Abused Anessa Santos, for her part, has her own share of being hurt physically in scenes involving her and Milby, whose character, over time, develops an abusive behavior toward his wife from his pent-up aggression. Asked whether her husband, Ryan Agoncillo, has expressed concern over "violent" scenes involving her character, Santos said the actor-host fully understands the nature of her work. Sam Milby as Eros in 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.' In the first episodes of "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," Santos' and Milby's characters are seen caught in a whirlwind romance, leading them to exchange vows despite the disapproval of their respective families. With a time slot after the Coco Martin-starrer "Juan dela Cruz," the drama series' pilot episode on Monday drew strong nationwide viewership, easily beating its competing program. Thankful Asked for her reaction to the positive reception to her comeback series, Santos said, "Wala nang mapaglugaran 'yung pagpapasalamat ko sa mga taong sumubaybay. Thank you. Wala na akong ibang masabi kundi thank you." Photo: Handout Admittedly, however, Santos said she still feels pressure to sustain her audience and do justice to her portrayal. "Hindi naman mawawala 'yung pressure, hindi mawawala 'yung kaba, which I guess is good," she said. "Kasi ibig sabihin natatakot pa rin naman ako kung ano pang proyekto ang ibibigay sa akin. Nandoon pa rin yung takot na, 'May manonood pa ba? Iyong tensyon na, 'Kaya po bang gampanan ito?" She added: "At the same time, nandoon 'yung tiwala mo sa mga tao na nandiyan lang sila. Hindi mo sila nararamdaman, pero alam mo na kapag lumabas ka, babalik sila." Santos' role as Anessa is billed as her drama series comeback after a three-year break. Now dubbed the "Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera," the actress is also considered a veteran after having starred in a dozen TV series over the past 25 years. Directed by Jerry Sineneng, Tots Sanchez-Mariscal, and Malu Sevilla, "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" also stars John Estrada, Tirso Cruz III, Coney Reyes, Susan Africa, Mylene Dizon, Matet de Leon, Empress, Bryan Termulo, and Joseph Marco.

Sharon sets concerts in California with KC

MANILA, Philippines -- Veteran actress-singer Sharon Cuneta may have taken a break from television but this doesn't mean she is totally inactive in showbiz. According to Cuneta's daughter, actress-host KC Concepcion, her mother will be having a concert this May 25 and May 26 in San Francisco, California. "I will be guesting in her shows so we will be in States together," Concepcion said in "KrisTV" on Thursday. Last February, Cuneta announced that she is taking a break from television. However, the 47-year-old Cuneta denied that her break had something to do with speculations spreading at the time that she wants to return to ABS-CBN. Cuneta signed up as a talent of TV5 in late 2011 for a reported P1-billion five-year contract. Before transferring to the No. 3 network, Cuneta was an ABS-CBN talent for over two decades.
