Juday says she has yet to learn ropes of hosting

MANILA – Judy Ann Santos is not ashamed to say that there is still a lot of room for improvement for her when it comes to hosting. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Santos admitted she still gets nervous every time she tapes her new Kapamilya game show, “Bet on Your Baby.” Nae-enjoy ko 'yung responsibility, 'yung pagiging spontaneous nung show. Makulit lang talaga 'yung show, pang bagets siya,” she said. While she has already hosted the Philippine franchise of the cooking reality show “Master Chef,” Santos said she remains clueless as to people’s expectations of her in this new game show. "Bet On Your Baby," which aired its pilot episode last October 19, proved to be an instant hit as it drew huge audiences and topped social media trending topics on that day. According to data from the market research group Kantar Media, the premiere scored a nationwide TV rating of 26.1%, almost double that of its time slot rival, GMA's "24 Oras Weekend," which managed a rating of 14.4% Apart from that, the show's official hashtag "#BetOnYourBabyPH," took the No. 1 spot in the Philippines' local trending topics on Twitter, which moved Santos to express her excitement and gratitude to the viewers who made the show an instant success. Sobrang thankful talaga ako,” she said. Santos said she has been asking tips from her husband, Ryan Agoncillo, who has been hosting several shows on TV since the 1990s. Currently busy on “Bet on Your Baby,” Santos said she will not be working on another series or movie just yet. “Baka next year na. Tapos na ako this year kasi hindi na rin naman na aabot kung sakali. Movies, may mga meetings na nagaganap, hopefully with Star (Cinema) pero I am not yet sure. Maraming maraming exciting projects. Hindi pa lang mag-materialize kasi marami ring kino-consider na mga bagay,” she said. Santos added: “Ako naman I’m just waiting lang kung ano ang ibigay ng Diyos na tamang project for me sa tamang panahon. Ngayon relax lang muna ako.”

Judy Ann Santos asks understanding for Sharon Cuneta’s reaction to allegations against her husband

092713-Judy_Main.jpg

Kapamilya soap opera queen Judy Ann Santos has once again rallied to the side of her “Ate,” Megastar Sharon Cuneta who recently drew flak anew after defending her husband, former senator Kiko Pangilinan, from being dragged into the controversial P10-billion Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) scam through a series of tweets that she has since deleted. During his privilege speech on Wednesday, Senator Jinggoy Estrada, one of the legislators currently facing plunder charges due to his purported involvement in the massive scam, lamented how the Commission on Audit has been seemingly biased in highlighting irregularities in the fund disbursement of government officials, among them allegedly were those of the Megastar’s husband. While the speech was ongoing, the actress took to her Twitter account her surprise and at the same time fury as she defended her husband from the nasty accusation. “If anyone reading this can prove to me that my husband has stolen any amount from his PDAF in his 12 years as senator, I will give you P10 million in cash and I will leave my husband. “That is how confident I am. Sorry, HINDI KAMI MAGNANAKAW,” posted the Megastar on Wednesday. As one of the closest friends of the seasoned actress, Juday, during the press conference of her upcoming game show Bet On Your Baby on Thursday, has underscored that if she were put in the same situation as her Ate Sharon, she would probably be feeling the exact same thing. “Ako I understand what Ate Sharon is going through kasi asawa siya di ba? Juday continued and said she sees nothing wrong that the outspoken Megastar made her disappointment publicly known, saying that, “Intindihin natin na sa bawat partner ng mga politicians, especially yung mga may paraan para ilabas ang saloobin nila… Juday added that we live in a democratic country where virtually everyone has a right to air their grievances about certain matters, it’s just that, “Nama-magnify lang kasi artista pero I guess halimbawa ordinaryong tao ang gagawa nu’n hindi papansinin, baka suportahan pa.” PDAF scam Juday, who was just cleared from her P3.4-million tax evasion case early this year, also expressed dismay over the existence of a pork barrel scam, wherein the funds that are supposedly for public consumption were allegedly pocketed by conniving legislators, agencies, and private individuals. What saddens her the most, Juday said, was the fact that that she was among the millions of Filipino taxpayers who made an effort to perform her duty in paying her taxes accordingly. With the recent calamities and the ongoing siege in Zamboanga, for Juday, the P10-billion pesos involved in the scam could have been put to a far better use. Many celebs have weighed in on this issue which has been linked to the showbiz industry due to the simple fact that two of the three senators charged with plunder last Monday are celebrities, namely: Sen. Jinggoy and Sen. Bong Revilla Jr. Asked what her reaction was that celebrities are involved in this controversy, Juday, pleaded with the public, as well as the presiding officials of the investigations, to just “disregard” the fact that they are celebrities but rather to just rechannel their energies and efforts in resolving the case as quick as possible. Ang sa akin lang, let’s get to the bottom of this. Let’s finish this already and hanapan na ng solusyon. Stop pinpointing and solusyunan na kasi the more na pinapatagal the more na tayong ninanakawan,” she ended.

Juday wants to have another baby

MANILA – Actress Judy Ann Santos revealed that she and husband Ryan Agoncillo are mulling to have another baby because she misses having a little kid going around their house. However, she said they do not want to exert too much effort in planning for it. “Napaguusapan pero it will happen, if it will happen. Ayaw naming planuhin kasi kapag pinaplano mas lalong parang hindi binibigay,” she told Push.com.ph. As of the moment, Santos said she and Agoncillo are enjoying the company of their two kids Yohan and Lucio. She said she and Agoncillo have agreed not to prohibit them if they express plans to join show business in the future. As early as now, Santos said the two are already showing signs of interest in being part of the entertainment industry. “Silang dalawang magkapatid, mahilig silang pumose. To better prepare them for what could possibly lie ahead, Santos said they already enrolled Yohan for voice and piano lessons. “So at least pumasok man sila rito meron silang bala na talent.

First look: Judy Ann's 'Bet on Your Baby'

MANILA -- The first trailers for the new game show hosted by Judy Ann Santos have been released, days after the actress dubbed the "young superstar" renewed her contract with ABS-CBN. One of the clips uploaded on ABS-CBN's YouTube page on Friday shows children, aged 2 to 3 1/2 years, and their behavior in different situations. The second video shows another toddler, this time made to pick among balloons, food or toys. Santos appears in both teasers, saying, "Gaano mo kakilala ang baby mo?" "Bet on Your Baby" is Santos' first project under her new two-year contract with ABS-CBN, which she formalized early this week amid speculations she was set to switch networks. While the mechanics of the game show have yet to be detailed, Santos earlier said it will involve the toddlers and their respective parents having to arrive at similar decisions. Ito naman, it's all about babies and how you deal with them," the 35-year-old actress said shortly after her contract-signing last Wednesday. She added: "No'ng nakita ko 'yung peg ng show, na-happy ako, kasi ako mismo noong pinapanood ko siya, nate-tense ako kung makukuha ba ni bagets 'yung bet ng mommy niya. Nakaka-ano siya, nakakatanggal ng problema." The airdate of "Bet on Your Baby" has yet to be announced.

Juday undecided about leaving ABS-CBN

MANILA -- Another network is hoping to sign up Judy Ann Santos but the actress said she has not yet made any decision about her next move after her hit series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" ends its run next week. In a press conference on Thursday, Santos admitted that a rival network had made an offer. Kasi medyo nawindang din ako for the past few weeks. I think I deserve to just relax and spend time with my kids and husband," Santos told reporters. "But doors for ABS-CBN will always, always be open. I will never deny the fact that ABS-CBN is my mother network, my mother station," she said. "Offers from other networks, yes, nandiyan sila but at the end of the day ako pa din ang magde-desisyon. Baka kailangan ko lang mag-isip at magpahinga. Masyado lang ako sigurong napagod sa mga bagay-bagay but 'yung pagod na 'yon was really well worth it. Siguro part ng pagod na 'yon is the fact na kailangan mong mag-mature as a person. Asked if she feels that ABS-CBN was able to give her the due respect she deserves, Santos said: "Hindi ko idi-deny na oo naman, naibigay naman ng bonggang bongga. Santos stressed that she's grateful to ABS-CBN. "Then again, of course, 'yung utang na loob will always be there, possibilities of entering new life will always be there. Kung ano man ang sitwasyon ngayon it's settled already and I'm just more than happy na tanggap kaming lahat," she said. In the press conference, Santos also turned emotional as she finally bade goodbye to her hit show, admitting that it was her decision to end the series earlier. "Sabi nga nila all good things must come to an end. It was my decision to end the show earlier. But then again I appreciate that the management listened to what I have to say. Originally it should be move to the fourth timeslot and I asked the management kung pwedeng third na muna para earlier kaming matatapos and I really appreciate the fact na pinagbigyan nila ako. "Para sa akin it was a very, very hard decision kasi isang taon mo itong ginawa. So I had to take that responsibility. It was me, it was my decision to end it earlier," Santos said. Santos also addressed reports that the fans of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla, the stars of the upcoming series "Got To Believe,"have something to do with her decision. There have been reports of some "KatNiel" fans allegedly bashing Santos and spreading rumors that the actress' show is not rating well. "'Yung 'Got To Believe,' sa totoo lang, ayaw kong mag-react sa isyu, sa kanila, kasi it's a totally different thing. Pero sa tunay na salita, 'yung 'Got To Believe' na teleserye has nothing to do with my decision. It was me and the management and pagbigyan natin ang mga bata, this is their moment to shine. Ang sa akin lang I was gone for two years and gusto kong mamaalam sa teleserye ng taas noo," Santos said.

Judy Ann Santos has new Kapamilya project

'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala' remains unbeaten in ratings MANILA -- ABS-CBN has offered a new project to Judy Ann Santos, an executive of the Kapamilya network said, as the primetime series starring the actress nears its conclusion. Director Laurenti Dyogi, ABS-CBN's TV Production Head, shared the news early this week in a series of posts on micro-blogging site Twitter, amid speculations about Santos' ongoing series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala." Addressing concerns brought up by Santos' fans on the social networking site, Dyogi explained that the soap's relatively short run reflects the "actual length of the story." "It was as planned by the creators of the soap. Short but powerful story... What the creators don't want to happen is to extend the story unnecessarily. ['Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala'] is one of the best crafted soaps of [ABS-CBN]," he said. Directed by Malu Sevilla, Jerry Lopez Sineneng and Tots Mariscal, "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" premiered on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block on June 17. It will run for two more weeks, according to Santos, before airing its final episode on August 23. Dyogi said Santos has already been offered a new Kapamilya project, which he said will be "new" for the actress dubbed the "Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera." "Hopefully Judai (Santos) accepts the new project we offered her. Bago na [naman] for her... Judai is well-loved! Thanks for giving her your full support," the director said, addressing a follower on Twitter. On her own Twitter page, the 35-year-old Santos said early this week she is "processing things," when asked if she is considering switching networks after "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" ends. Dyogi, in another tweet on Wednesday, likewise addressed a follower who brought up Santos' possible move to another station. "I think she will stay. Will pray for that," he said. Finale nears Santos, meantime, expressed her excitement over the unfolding of the story of "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" as it approaches its conclusion. Her character, Anessa, has resurfaced as Angela Balaguer on a quest for revenge on her abusive husband, Eros (Sam Milby), and his family for keeping her apart from her son. "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," which airs after "Muling Buksan ang Puso," maintained its lead in national TV ratings over its rival shows aired on GMA-7 and TV5 in the first week of August. According to the latest TV ratings data of multi-national market research group Kantar Media, the Kapamilya series continued its winning streak in nationwide ratings against GMA-7's "My Husband's Lover" on August 2 (28.1% vs 14.4%), August 5 (26.1% vs 15%), August 6 (24.9% vs 14.1%), and August 7 (24.9% vs 14.4%). Kantar Media uses a nationwide panel size of 2,609 urban and rural homes, representing 100% of the total Philippine TV viewing population. ABS-CBNnews.com is the news website of ABS-CBN Corp.

Judy Ann Santos admits she is playing one of the hardest roles of her acting career

As one of the top Primetime Bida shows, Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala's ratings have continually gone up as audiences tune in to watch the saga of Anessa, Eros, and Alexis. Judy Ann Santos who plays Anessa admitted she is playing one of the most challenging roles in all her years in show business. For her role, Juday learned the art of Israeli self-defense. “Krav Maga yung gagamitin naming martial arts dito to showcase din sa mga viewers lalo na sa mga kababaihan kung ano yung self-defense na puwede nila pasukin to protect themselves,” she said. Apart from her current role as a battered wife in Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala, Juday recalled another challenging moment in her career when she was doing the fantaserye Krystala in 2004. Hindi ako makapaniwala na nakapag-tights ako at 26 years old. Napakakulay talaga. Wala talaga akong masasabi,” she shared. For her newest soap, Juday said hopes she can satisfy the audience's expectations of her. Juday said she was not used to the feeling of having some difficulty doing a crying scene. Parang ngayon pa lang ulit ako nasasanay, ngayon pa lang ako nakakabalik with the help of directors, talagang ang tinding pagbabago yung kailangan ko gawin kasi meron akong kailangan patunayan,” she said.

Sam says 'violent' scenes with Juday hard to do

MANILA – Actor Sam Milby admitted he had a hard time doing the “violent” scenes with actress Judy Ann Santos for their primetime series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.” In the teleserye, Milby plays Eros Diomedes, a rich young man who develops an aggressive temper from growing up surrounded by a domineering family. He falls in love with Anessa (Santos), a woman he meets while on a business trip in the province. Later on, however, as seen in the trailer for "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," Eros and Anessa's relationship turns sour, when he starts having an affair and begins physically abusing his partner. Malakas talaga 'yung paghawak ko,” he said. Milby said he admires Santos for being a true professional, letting him "hurt" her just to deliver the performance the viewers deserve. “Nahiya ako sa kanya pero sobrang bait siya sa akin and she allowed me and it was okay with her. Tinutulungan niya ako. She’s perfected the craft of acting so working with her has been inspiring. It’s been a learning process para sa akin and a huge privilege,” he said. Far from his romantic leading man roles, Milby said he is challenging himself to play the bad guy in the series by not allowing himself to be left behind when acting opposite Santos. “Sana hindi ma-overshadow din. Kasi when you’re with someone na ganun kagaling, someone can get overshadowed sa acting niya. So 'yun 'yung mga takot ko. Pero sobrang happy ako ngayon kasi so far 'yung mga feedback na naririnig ko maganda naman galing kay Juday, at sa production at sa mga nanunuod,” he said. According to data from multi-national market research group Kantar Media, the pilot episode of “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” marked Santos’ return to primetime television by seizing the No. 1 spot in the series' time slot. "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" led its competing shows in nationwide ratings on June 17 garnering 27.1% in national TV ratings, while its closest competing program, "Mundo Mo'y Akin," registered 15.1%.

KC credits Juday for kontrabida turn

MANILA, Philippines -- Actress KC Concepcion is thankful to actress Judy Ann Santos for pushing her in her bida-kontrabida role in ABS-CBN's hit series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" with Sam Milby. In the primetime series, Concepcion plays the role of Alexis, who has an affair with Eros (Milby), the abusive husband of Anessa (Santos). "She believe in me, more than I believe myself. That's something I have to thank her for. But there's a lot of Alexis in everybody, I always say there's Alexis in everyone," she said. Concepcion said viewers can expect more exciting scenes in the upcoming episodes of the soap. "Naku po, sa lahat ng nagmamahal na at naasar na kay Alexis, there's more. We can't wait to give you more dito sa 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala,'" she said. "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" airs weeknights after "Juan dela Cruz."

Judy Ann: I had to hurt KC

Young superstar overwhelmed by raves for new series MANILA -- KC Concepcion was admittedly hurt and even "saw stars" when Judy Ann Santos slapped her for a scene in the prime time series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala." Santos, who is known to be close friends with Concepcion, said "it was a scene that had to be done," when asked for her reaction to the younger actress' earlier statement that she had felt the slap's impact on her jaw. "May mga bagay na kailangan mo i-set aside para magampanan mo nang maayos 'yung istorya at 'yung character mo, and 'yun iyon," Santos told reporters on Tuesday night. The 35-year-old actress further explained that the heightened "tension" in the scene was the result of events involving her and Conepcion's characters. In the Primetime Bida series, which debuted Monday, Santos portrays the strong-willed and hard-working Anessa, a young woman from a poor family who falls for Eros (Sam Milby), a rich businessman. Concepcion, on the other hand, takes on her first "kontrabida" role as Alexis, a woman "blinded" by her love for Eros, and whose obssession for the man drives her to make Anessa's life a living hell. "So 'yung mismong eksena, nakakadala. And at the same time, kailangan mong pag-aralan 'yung takbo, 'yung growth ng storya naming dalawa," she said. Although the physical confrontation between Anessa and Alexis has yet to air, it was seen as one of the highlights of the full trailer for "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" released leading up to its premiere. Abused Anessa Santos, for her part, has her own share of being hurt physically in scenes involving her and Milby, whose character, over time, develops an abusive behavior toward his wife from his pent-up aggression. Asked whether her husband, Ryan Agoncillo, has expressed concern over "violent" scenes involving her character, Santos said the actor-host fully understands the nature of her work. Sam Milby as Eros in 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.' In the first episodes of "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," Santos' and Milby's characters are seen caught in a whirlwind romance, leading them to exchange vows despite the disapproval of their respective families. With a time slot after the Coco Martin-starrer "Juan dela Cruz," the drama series' pilot episode on Monday drew strong nationwide viewership, easily beating its competing program. Thankful Asked for her reaction to the positive reception to her comeback series, Santos said, "Wala nang mapaglugaran 'yung pagpapasalamat ko sa mga taong sumubaybay. Thank you. Wala na akong ibang masabi kundi thank you." I guess is good," she said. She added: "At the same time, nandoon 'yung tiwala mo sa mga tao na nandiyan lang sila. Santos' role as Anessa is billed as her drama series comeback after a three-year break. Now dubbed the "Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera," the actress is also considered a veteran after having starred in a dozen TV series over the past 25 years. Directed by Jerry Sineneng, Tots Sanchez-Mariscal, and Malu Sevilla, "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" also stars John Estrada, Tirso Cruz III, Coney Reyes, Susan Africa, Mylene Dizon, Matet de Leon, Empress, Bryan Termulo, and Joseph Marco.

Judai personally chose cast of upcoming series

MANILA – Drama actress Judy Ann Santos said she is proud to have made the right choices in picking the cast of her upcoming series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.” Marking her comeback in the world of “teleseryes,” Santos said she is very proud of Sam Milby, who will portray a role far from what the viewers usually see him play. Santos said she was able to convince Milby to accept this project, saying that this series will be his “vehicle" to take on more mature characters. Aside from Santos and Milby, “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala” will also feature KC Concepcion and a special guest appearance of veteran actress Amalia Fuentes. “Abangan po ninyo. Isang napakaimportanteng karakter ang gagampanan ni Ms. Amalia Fuentes, and with KC Concepcion, isa siyang revelation dito. Pareho sila ni Sam. I’m proud to say na hindi ako nagkamali sa mga choices ko sa series na ito dahil talagang revelation lahat ng tao dito,” she said. For over two decades that she has been a Kapamilya, Santos said she feels flattered that the ABS-CBN network continuously entrusts good projects to her. Ang tensyon ko abot langit,” she said. The actress admitted she agreed to do this series, which will tackle the theme of empowering women. “Very heavy drama ito. "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala" tells the story of Anessa (Santos), a battered wife who will do everything to be free from her husband and to protect her child. The series will air its pilot episode on June 17 on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block.

Piolo welcomes Judy Ann reunion

MANILA, Philippines -- Piolo Pascual is happy to welcome back former "love team" Judy Ann Santos as the "Queen of Pinoy Soap Opera." The 35-year-old actress is set to topbill her 10th soap opera in 25 years with the drama series "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," which is set to premiere on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block on June 17. The upcoming TV series, which also stars Sam Milby and KC Concepcion, is seen as Santos' drama comeback after headlining "Habang May Buhay" in 2010. "I'm happy she's going to have a soap again," Pascual told reporters on Tuesday, shortly before he left for the 2013 Cannes International Film Festival. "Ang tagal nating hinintay 'yan. Queen of Soap Opera 'yan e, kaya magandang mapanood ulit si Judai sa primetime," the actor said. Reunion? Pascual, whose on-screen tandem with Santos is considered as one of local showbiz's most successful, last worked with the actress in 2006 in the film "Don't Give Up On Us" and the TV series "Sa Piling Mo." In the same year, Pascual and Santos' then-boyfriend Ryan Agoncillo figured in a controversial tiff, leading to the falling out between Pascual and his "love team" partner of several years. A year later, both camps reportedly settled their differences. Santos, however, has expressed hesitation to be paired again with Pascual in a project. "Hindi ako makasabi ng oo, hindi ako makasabi ng hindi," Santos said in November last year, referring to reprising her tandem with Pascual. Anything can happen... but not this year, not in two years," she said. Asked on Tuesday if he is still willing to work again with Santos, Pascual said, "I've always been open, alam naman ni Judai 'yon. Walang problema." Ongoing series Currently, the 36-year-old actor is paired on the small screen with actress Angelica Panganiban in the TV series "Apoy sa Dagat." "Maganda, pabigat nang pabigat [ang 'Apoy sa Dagat'], kasi we're more than midway through [the series now], kaya pabigat nang pabigat ang mga eksena," Pascual said. He admitted that taping for the series has become increasingly tiring, "pero at the same time nakakataba ng puso pag nalalaman mong naaapprecaite ng mga tao 'yung [ginagawa] mo." Pascual added: "We're thankful and we're grateful sa mga nakakapanood ng 'Apoy sa Dagat.'"

Judai, Ryan mark 4th year amid split rumors

MANILA, Philippines -- Actress Judy Ann Santos on Wednesday again brushed off persistent rumors that she and husband Ryan Agoncillo have already separated. Bored ba kayo? Kasi nakaka-boring na 'yan. Parang paulit-ulit na lang. Kailangan bang gumawa kami ng event na pag-uusapan para malayo kami sa hiwalayan na tsismis?"Santos told reporters on Wednesday during the pictorial of her upcoming series, "Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala," which promotes women empowerment. "Ayaw kong magpaka-nega dahil napakaraming swerteng pumapasok. Ang dami kong trabaho this year, the whole ABS-CBN is here. Masyado akong masaya ngayon. Masyado akong proud, overwhelmed with happiness. Ayaw kong masira ang concenration ko ngayon. I'm just really very happy," she stressed. Santos also denied reports that they have secretly filed for an annulment. "Ano ba yan? Hindi ba ang mahal magpa-annul ngayon? Bakit magpapa-annul? Napakaraming tsismosa dito sa Pilipinas maisi-secret mo ba ang annulment," an irked Santos said. Santos and Agoncillo recently celebrated their fourth wedding anniversary. The showbiz couple tied the knot on April 28, 2009 at San Juan Nepomuceno Church in San Juan, Batangas. Asked how they marked their anniversary, she said they had breakfast in Tagaytay and heard Mass. Nag-dinner kami, simple lang walang masyadong ganap kasi fourth wedding anniversary naman," she said. Santos credited their strong relationship on the fact that they are friends to begin with. Pinaka-importante na may pinagtatawanan kayo, very open kayo sa isa't isa," she said. The actress admitted that like other couples, they also had their share of misunderstandings but they make sure to resolve these privately. Pero kung ano ang pinagdadaanan namin, it's make us stronger and better. So wala 'yon, deadma," she said. Defends Ryan In the interview, Santos also defended Agoncillo on accusations that he is a womanizer. "Nakakatawa na nga lang. 'Susmaryosep, napaka-gwapo mo, Ryan. Santos stressed that Agoncillo is an honest and loyal husband.

Mga Mumunting Lihim (Those Little Secrets) A Film By Jose Javier Reyes

How well do you know your best friends? Do you share the belief that your friends know you so much more than your own family members?

Do you share all your secrets with your best friend? Do you tell your best friend everything that that you think and feel about the people around you?

What do you say about your other friends when they are not with you? Do you share your opinions and judgments about what your friends do to other people?

MGA MUMUNTING LIHIM (Those Little Secrets) is precisely about those seemingly trivial and insignificant events and issues that constitute the totality of friendship. It is about the life shared through the years of four women and how, in one moment, they finally realize that they truly do not know one another despite the experiences that they have shared and cherished and even defined as friendship.

MARIEL (Judy Ann Santos) and CARLA (Iza Calzado) have been best friends since high school. They have shared the years and common interests: they are both creative individuals interested in writing. But the unfolding of years have opted two extremely different courses of the women: MARIEL chose to give up her career as a magazine writer to be a wife and mother -- while CARLA shunned marriage to become a successful advertising executive.

Into their lives came two other women: there was SANDRA (Agot Isidro) who married a man old enough to be her father so that she can afford the lifestyle that she wanted -- and OLIVE (Janice de Belen) who was happy with her domestic bliss and married to an OFW in Dubai.

The women bonded and treasured their camarederie until fate struck its blow and the bevy had to confront their mortality.

Worse than that, when one of the women exposed the truth about the real feelings and thoughts of the friends about each other, what they perceived as the security of each other's friendship turned out to be the true test of their dignity and honesty.

It is those little secrets that, when added together, constitute the most painful and irreparable damage from seemingly unimportant lies.

MGA MUMUNTING LIHIM also features Roeder Camanag, Lui Manansala, Madeline Nicolas, Gino De la Pena and Kim Komatsu.

Gala premiere of the movie is on July 25, 2012 at 9 PM at the CCP Main Theater as part of the Director's Showcase of Cinemalaya 2012.
