Iza Calzado not yet ready to settle down

MANILA – Actress Iza Calzado is not yet ready to walk down the aisle even if she considers herself blessed when it comes to her love life. In an interview with ABS-CBN News at the Mega Masquerade Ball on Tuesday night, Calzado said she still has so many things in her to-do list that she wants to accomplish. “No [wedding bells], just bells for ice cream. Huwag muna. Sayang naman, kakalipat ko lang sa ABS-CBN. Marami pa akong gustong gawin sa career ko,” she said. Calzado, who turned 30 last Monday, said she wants to be able to give full attention to her own family once she settles down. “Hindi ko naman sinasabing bata pa ako dahil hindi na ako bata. Pero ang kabataan kasi is relative. Ako kasi pakiramdam ko marami pa akong gustong gawin at kailangang gawin para sa sarili ko kaya hindi ko pa maibigay 'yung buong ako sa magiging partner ko, sa pagkakaroon ko ng sariling pamilya ngayon,” she said. Saying entering marriage is a lifetime commitment, Calzado said she also wants to be 100% ready for her share of responsibilities. But when asked if she already sees her current partner as her future husband, the actress said: “Malaki ang posibilidad. We will only actually know when it’s there. At this point, I’m very lucky to have someone like him.” Calzado currently appears on the Sunday musical variety show “ASAP.” She is also set to host the second season of “The Biggest Loser Pinoy Edition.” Aside from that, she will soon start shooting since she is part of the upcoming Toni Gonzaga-Piolo Pascual movie. “I’m set to do a movie with Toni and Piolo. It’s a story of whether or not second chances are possible in life,” she said.

Iza Calzado to focus on hosting 'Biggest Loser'

MANILA – Actress Iza Calzado revealed she won’t be doing another teleserye this year as she will have her hands full for the upcoming second season of “The Biggest Loser.” The actress’ last teleserye with the Kapamilya network was "Kahit Puso'y Masugatan," which ended in February. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Calzado admitted it would be “very hard” for her to do another show, while doing the local version of the hit American reality show. “Parang hindi ko rin kakayanin pagsabayin. Kasi ginagawa na po namin ang ‘Biggest Loser,’ nag-grind na kasi for ‘Biggest Loser’ pero sporadic taping days pa lang. Hindi pa naka-camp 'yung contestants,” she said. The actress, who also battled weight problems before, said she is focusing on her hosting responsibilities for the show. "Hopefully I'll conquer it," Calzado said about hosting. "But basically I'm entering a new territory. I’ve never been given a show like this, [of] this magnitude, to host." Calzado said the second season will feature new twists compared to the first “Biggest Loser,” especially in terms of dynamics. “Doubles [na ito]. Tapos kahit kami, 'yung dynamics, kasi dati si Ate Shawie (Cuneta) tapos si Derek (Ramsay) lang. Ngayon we have a Team Biggest Loser so it’s Matteo (Guidicelli), Robi (Domingo), myself and then the two coaches,” she said.

Iza lauds Zanjoe's performance in 'Bromance'

MANILA – Actress Iza Calzado lauded Zanjoe Marudo for pulling off his dual role -- one gay, the other straight -- in the movie “Bromance.” Calzado is among the celebrities who graced the special screening of the Skylight Films project on Tuesday night. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Calzado said she is amazed that Marudo was able to distinctly convey his two characters. “Maganda 'yung pelikula. Nakakatawa ang mga scene, ang galing ni Zanjoe mag-play ng isang homosexual. Ang hirap din kasi he’s playing two characters and alam mo na mahirap iyon pagtuuanan ng pansin kung paano niya madi-differentiate ang dalawa,” she said. After the screening, Calzado extended her congratulatory message to the entire cast and crew of “Bromance,” which opens in theaters nationwide on Wednesday. “Congratulations kay Zanjoe, kay Cristine (Reyes) at sa lahat ng bumubuo ng ‘Bromance’ lalo na sa inyong director na si Wenn Deramas. Mabuhay kayong lahat,” she said. Deramas is also the director behind the blockbuster comedies "The Unkabogable Praybeyt Benjamin", "This Guy's In Love With U Mare!" and "Sisterakas."

MARIEL (Judy Ann Santos) and CARLA (Iza Calzado) have been best friends since high school. They have shared the years and common interests: they are both creative individuals interested in writing. But the unfolding of years have opted two extremely different courses of the women: MARIEL chose to give up her career as a magazine writer to be a wife and mother -- while CARLA shunned marriage to become a successful advertising executive.

Into their lives came two other women: there was SANDRA (Agot Isidro) who married a man old enough to be her father so that she can afford the lifestyle that she wanted -- and OLIVE (Janice de Belen) who was happy with her domestic bliss and married to an OFW in Dubai.
