MANILA -- Ynna Asistio denied causing the breakup of celebrity couple Derek Ramsay and Cristine Reyes, amid rumors of the actor's supposed intentions to woo her.
"Gusto ko lang i-clear -- si Derek at si Cristine, matagal ko nang kaibigan. Gusto ko lang i-clear sa lahat na never akong niligawan ni Derek. Magkaibigan kami," the 22-year-old Asistio told ABS-CBN News' Mario Dumaual on Tuesday.
Reports of Ramsay and Reyes' supposed separation surfaced early this week, after both TV stars changed their Instagram usernames from "kingderekramsay" to "kidlatramsay11," and "QueenCKRamsay" to "AwesomeQueenCK," respectively.
Their original usernames referred to their being a couple.
By Ramsay's admission, he and Reyes became a couple last August 28, after being close friends since 2011 when they co-starred in the romance-drama film "No Other Woman."
Ramsay and Reyes have yet to confirm the break-up.
Recalling hearing of the news, Asistio said, "Isa rin ako sa mga nag-wish na maging okay silang dalawa, dahil best friends talaga sila. Alam ko 'yon. So sana, tama na, tigilan nalang po, ayoko nalang po talaga madamay diyan."
Asistio, who is a long-time friend of Reyes, said she only met Ramsay recently. While she admitted that she got together with the actor a number of times, Asistio emphasized they were always part of a group.
"Matagal na kaming magkakilala ni AA (Reyes' nickname), at saka sobrang close kami, at alam ni AA 'yon. Nagkaka-usap kami 'til now. So sana po hindi na lang ako isama, kasi problema po nila 'yon," she said.
Referring to Ramsay's rumored visit to her place, Asistio said, "Nagkaroon ng time na gano'n. Nung nagkakilala kami, group of friends naman kami, hindi naman po kaming dalawa lang or ano. So 'yun lang din. Talagang nagkaroon ng time na talagang nagkakasama kami."
Focusing on career
Bringing up her recent breakup with actor Mark Herras, which she confirmed in July this year, Asistio continued, "Ayoko pong pumasok pa ulit sa relasyon."
The 22-year-old actress also expressed concern that rumors tagging her in the separation might negatively affect her career as a Kapamilya.
Asistio, a former GMA-7 actress, transferred to ABS-CBN early this year and is now one of the artists of the Kapamilya talent management firm Star Magic.
"Ang importante lang sa akin ngayon... kumbaga gusto ko lang alagaan 'yung binibigay sa akin ng ABS. So sana huwag nalang po ako idamay. Gusto ko lang i-clear na never po nanligaw si Derek, para matapos na po," she said.
"Ayoko pong sayangan 'yung opportunity na 'to kasi minsan lang po magkaroon ng ganitong opportunity, so gusto ko po talaga alagaan," she added.
