MANILA -- Jake Cuenca denied rumors he went through depression over Lovi Poe, who he admitted he was in love with.
While the 25-year-old actor said he was saddened that it never became a real romantic relationship, he stressed it never reached the point that he became depressed.
"Okay naman 'yung usapan namin, so hindi naman siya nakaka-depress. Pero syempre nakakalungkot. Everytime naman something doesn't push through, nakakalungkot talaga," he said in an interview on "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday.
Cuenca had been vocal of his feelings for Poe, but the 24-year-old actress repeatedly addressed the Kapamilya star's admiration only by saying they remain "genuine friends."
She also cited her focus on career for her inability to commit to any relationship for now.
Although Cuenca has said it is "instinctual to fall in love with [Poe]," the actor is now trying to move on, saying he intends to also focus on his career.
"The best thing you can do, again, is move on. And that's what I'm doing. Sorbang ano ko nalang... Again, uulitin ko, napakaswerte ko na napakarami kong ginagawa," he said.
