Daniel Padilla graces the cover of the 13th anniversary issue of ABS-CBN Publishing’s Chalk magazine and is dubbed the “Teenage Dream.” The 18-year-old actor talked to Chalk’s Elaine Carag about how he still maintains a mysterious air despite being one of the Kapamilya network’s hottest teen idols today. “Mas natutuwa pa nga ako pag nagugulat yung mga tao dahil may mga bagay pa na hindi nila alam tungkol sa akin,” he shared with Chalk.
The teen star, who is currently working on his upcoming Primetime Bida series Got to Believe also admitted in the interview how he decided to be patient during his slow rise in showbiz via the teen-oriented show Growing Up. “Sa nangyayari ba namang problema sa amin sa bahay, ano na lang mangyayari sa amin nun kung iiwan pa kami ng Diyos? Hindi ko lang minadali ang mga bagay. Kaya nung dumating na, okay na talaga ako,” he shared The cover story of Chalk’s August issue features DJ in 16 pages just for the mag’s 13th anniversary.
DJ’s reel-and-real life sweetheart and Got to Believe co-star Kathryn Bernardo also shared how she and DJ started getting close and weighs in on what makes DJ different from all the other guys in her life (as told in a separate article). “Patuloy kong nararamdaman yung spark kay DJ bilang isang love team partner kasi kami mismo, hindi rin naman namin pipigilan yun. Saan nanggaling yung spark? Ewan ko. Siguro naturally na lang talaga siyang lumalabas kasi madali namang ka-trabaho si DJ and maalaga siya as a love team partner,” she told Chalk.
Kathryn said having good chemistry on and off camera also helped make their partnership a success. “So feeling ko kaya kami nag-click ni DJ kasi nga off-cam din good friends naman talaga kami. Parang super friends, super close friends or best friends, ganyan na kami,” she admitted.
