Kim Jones: I just want to be Mrs. Rosales now

MANILA -- Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones have set their wedding date in 2014, a year after the celebrity couple announced their engagement. "We have a date. We do, yeah. It will be next year, it will be around middle of next year," the TV host-model was quoted as saying by entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portal in a report published Wednesday. Asked to reveal the exact date, Jones said, "It's a secret. It's a secret for now. You know what, it will come around so fast that even if I did reveal it, it will just go by in a second. But, yeah, we're looking at middle of next year." Jones and Rosales, who went public with their relationship only in March 2012, were already a couple as early as October 2011. They first met in March of that year, when they were introduced by a mutual friend. They announced their engagement last August. Referring to the wedding, Jones said, "It's months and months away yet so we haven't decided all of the details yet but we do know that we definitely wanna get married at the beach." "So that’s what we’re focusing on now. I mean, we just want the people that we love there. The people that have played a role in our relationship or people that we just love to be around — that's who we want on our wedding," she said. The Filipino-Australian model went on to express excitement about the wedding, saying, "I just want to be a wife now — be Mrs. Rosales." While the wedding is still several months away, Jones is already looking ahead to a married life. She emphasized, however, that she and Rosales are unlikely to set aside their respective careers even then. "Nothing's going to change. We're both really still focused on our careers and things. We both just want to have... we just wanna be married, we just want each other's support, and be each other's asawa," she said.

JC de Vera excited to work with Echo, Maja, Angel

MANILA – JC de Vera said he feels nervous as he takes on his first teleserye role on ABS-CBN via the upcoming soap "The Legal Wife." “I am very nervous. As in sobrang scared, pero this is it. Ito na, ito na ang start ng aking journey dito sa ABS-CBN. So I’m blessed,” he said in an interview with the entertainment website Push.com.ph. “First time kong makasama itong mga ganitong klaseng artista. Until now, ako’y overwhelmed pa rin at ‘yun nga, very nervous pa rin kasi hindi ko alam kung gaano kagagaling itong mga ito,’ he added. Despite this, de Vera said he is hoping to build a good working relationship with his "The Legal Wife" co-stars, Angel Locsin, Jericho Rosales and Maja Salvador. “I’m hoping na marami silang maitulong sa akin pagdating sa acting. And happy ako na nakasali ako sa kanila kasi nga magandang experience itong unang show na gagawin ko, kaya very blessed talaga,” he said. Asked what his role in the series would be, the actor said: “Isa akong boy na longing for love ng mga tao pero hindi ako rebelde, hindi rin ako masamang bata. Naghahanap ka lang ng love from your family, from someone else.” He said that’s where the journey of his character picks up, eventually leading him to meet the characters played by Locsin and Salvador. De Vera said he is glad that his supporters will finally see him on television – this time, at his new home. “Ako naman ang gusto ko lang talaga is to work. At maybe hindi ako naging visible for a couple of times pero wala eh, nandito na ako ngayon eh. Mapapanood naman nila ako, slowly. Makikita nila ako dito sa ABS-CBN,” he said. The actor said it makes his him feel appreciated that his supporters still rally behind him even after deciding to shift networks. “Masaya ako na inaabangan nila ako, gusto ko lang sanang maibalik sa kanila, na huwag silang mag-alala kasi aayusin ko naman talaga ‘yung work ko dito,” he said.

Jericho Rosales unruffled by Alagwa’s comparison to Hollywood film Taken

While both films deal with a father willing to face danger in order to save their child, acclaimed actor Jericho Rosales underscored that his film Alagwa didn’t copy the plot of the Liam Neeson-starrer Taken. During the recently-concluded promo shoot for his upcoming soap The Legal Wife, Jericho addressed the issue and explained, “Well ‘yun kasi ‘yung element ng human trafficking or kidnapping eh di’ ba? It’s the same as element ng love, element ng hate. Pagdating sa pelikula may kontrabida at bida di ba?” According to him, his internationally-acclaimed hit can boast of originality in terms of how his and child actor Bugoy Cariño’s characters were written. “Kidnapping and human trafficking ay naha-highlight rin ng Alagwa. But ang pagkakaiba ni Liam Neeson doon sa character ko dito sa pelukulang ito, wala siyang special set of skills. Wala siyang CIA background. Wala siya talaga. He’s a struggling salesman, a Chinese salesman na ano ang gagawin mo kapag na-kidnap ‘yung anak mo di ba?” said he about the Ian Loreños film. The Kapamilya actor, whose first indie effort became widely successful here and abroad, couldn’t be happier that audiences have started embracing the unconventional treatments and concepts brought forward by independent films. “Oo naman may ginagawa na kami kasi ‘yung kultura natin in-embrace na niya ‘yung indie eh. Hindi siya ‘yung tipong mga kinasanayan nating mga istorya pero very interesting. Nakakabusog sa isip, nakakabusog sa puso, halo halo na eh. Andiyan na lahat eh. Of course may quality rin, andyan na ‘yung quality nung art, ‘yung artistry ng mga director pinapasok nila dito. I think it’s about time na ma-embrace ng mga Pilipino ‘yung mga ganitong pelikula kasi napakaraming magaling na artista at director at producer sa indie scene,” he said. Moreover, he said he appreciates how the indie film scene provides an even playing field for every performer as it opens doors for so many actors who have long been waiting for their time to shine. “‘Yung mga actor na hindi mo inaakalang mabibigyan ng break dito sa indie. I love it because it’s fair. Parang fair ang labanan. Pakita mo ‘yung galing mo, parang ganon talaga sa indie eh. Pakita mo ‘yung pagmamahal mo sa pelikula,” said the 34-year-old actor. Not that he’s completely turning his back on mainstream media given that it’s where he has thrived for so many years before Alagwa came along, but he highlights that the indie film scene will forever hold a special place in his heart because “… It gives a lot of people work [and] it’s giving a lot of artists a chance na talaga namang ipakita nila ‘yung talent nila.” Seeing how Alagwa has made waves in numerous film festivals abroad, will he be more choosy in accepting projects from here on out? “Mapili na ako dati pa,” he started with a laugh and continued, “’Yun lang kasi I respect my viewers especially my avid followers kasi nakita na nila ako na ganito ‘yung ginagawa eh. Ibig sabihin gusto ko paring gumawa ng masaya, malungkot, heavy drama [sa mainstream], gusto ko parin ‘yan basta maganda ‘yung quality at maganda ‘yung mensahe nako game ako diyan.” Jericho is set to comeback on primetime with a new soap pretty soon more than a year after his last soap Dahil sa Pag-ibig ended. “It feels great. Finally, pagkatapos ng paghihintay namin. Marami narin kasi ang naghihintay, nagtatanong samin, hindi ko narin alam kung anong isasagot ko. Siguro ang the best na sagot lang do’n eh pinapaganda ‘yung script. So with the new addition to the team, JC de Vera, mas maganda and exciting ‘yung cast namin nila Angel [Locsin] at Maja [Salvador],” he said. While he was ecstatic over his impending return, Echo was a little tight-lipped about his character on the soap. However, he said that “kasing ganda rin naman ‘yung storya nito doon sa Dahil sa Pag-ibig. “Oo nasabi na nila pero surpresa muna and exciting siya. Medyo maraming mga mga binata na makaka-relate dito sa role na ito… Bale ako ‘yung sisimbolo sa mga kalalakihan dito sa soap na ito,” he quipped teasingly. He assured his fans that his role in The Legal Wife is something that he has yet to do as an artist. “Medyo buma-boundary siya sa mali eh. So pinapakita ng character ko kung ano ‘yung hindi mo dapat gawin bilang isang lalaki na nasa isang relasyon, parang ganon,” shared the multi-awarded actor.

Jericho to begin taping for new soap next week

MANILA – After being absent from TV soaps for over a year, actor Jericho Rosales is excited to work on another series with people he hasn’t worked with yet. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Rosales said his first taping schedule is set next week, and he is looking forward to working with Angel Locsin, Maja Salvador and JC de Vera. “October 18, we are going to start taping. No sure title yet but I got the latest script, it says there ‘Langis at Tubig.’ I’m very excited. It’s nice to work with people I haven’t worked with,” he said. Rosales said the series would be shown either later this year or in January next year. His last teleserye was the primetime drama "Dahil sa Pag-ibig," which was shown in 2012. Asked about the story, the actor said: “It focuses on marital relationships. Love story siya pero medyo malalim, medyo intense. It’s a great subject matter. Kami ni Angel ang mag-partner.” It is not clear if the series is a remake of the 1980 movie "Langis at Tubig," starring Vilma Santos, Amy Austria and Dindo Fernando, which dealt with bigamy. While waiting for his first taping day, Rosales said he currently has his hands full promoting his independent film “Alagwa.” The award-winning movie had its grand premiere on Monday. It opens in theaters on Wednesday. The Ian Lorenos-directed film recently won the Grand Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature, beating other films from the United Kingdom and South Korea at the 3rd Guam International Film Festival. Rosales was cited for achievement in acting. The movie, which focuses on the theme of human trafficking, was also awarded Best Narrative at the Third World Independent Film Festival. Rosales also clinched a best acting citation at the Newport Beach Film Festival and the First ASEAN International Film Festival. Here in the country, the actor’s performance in the movie was recognized by the Gawad Urian.

Jericho set to do a movie with Andi

MANILA – Actor Jericho Rosales is elated to have yet another extended family as he recently inked a three-movie deal with Viva Films. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Rosales said he is glad to belong to another family which allows him to also do movies outside the production outfit. “May option ako to do movies outside. They understand that I love films. I can still do an indie film a year. They also know that I love indie films. In fact, ‘Alagwa’ is going to be released through Star Cinema. They’re okay with that. They have a good relationship with ABS-CBN, with Genesis. It’s nice. It’s like I can go anywhere and people trust me. I thank people for that,” he said. Rosales said he was specifically touched when Viva Film’s big boss Vic del Rosario approached him and told him that the Viva family believes in his capacity as an actor. “He said he has plans for me. He said, ‘I trust you as an actor. We’re going do films na you’ll be excited to work on.’ We are exploring. But he said that he believes in me and that’s a big thing for me,” he said. Saying he thinks he is on the right track, Rosales happily shared that his first movie under Viva Films will be with Andi Eigenmann. “Andi is a good actor. She’s the type na puwede mo siyang ilagay sa kahit anong genre ng pelikula and she’ll shine. She’s an artist that adapts and hindi mo puwede sabihin na ito lang ang image niya. It’s in her blood,” he said. Asked what kind of project will they be working on, Rosales said: “Actually this project na gagawin namin for with Andi is fun. May following na agad 'yung script kasi galing siya sa book so exciting.” Movie with Heart? Meanwhile, the actor also addressed questions whether he is willing to act alongside former girlfriend, actress Heart Evangelista, again. “I think it’s too early for that. If the timing is right, if the script is right, why not? For now I just don’t want to focus muna on Heart. Recently may mga stuff and issue and everything. I’m just really not the type of artist na sasakay doon sa ganung init ng issue and everything,” he said. Rosales reiterated that he decides whether to accept a project or not based on the material. “I always base my projects on ano ba 'yung kagandahan ng pelikula. But Heart’s an artist, I’m an artist. There will be a time that we’ll both be on the set. Mangyayari din 'yun. Pero for now, gusto lang muna mag-focus sa kung ano 'yung gagawin ko. It’s all about timing for me,” he said. Evangelista and Rosales ended their three-year relationship in 2008, after she was supposedly made to believe by her parents that the actor had been cheating on her with actress Carmen Soo. Rosales is now engaged with TV host Kim Jones, while Evangelista is in a relationship with Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero.

Jericho, Kim Jones overwhelmed by support

MANILA – Newly engaged couple Jericho Rosales and Kim Jones are overwhelmed by the support that they have been receiving since the actor proposed to the TV host last Sunday. Two days after the public proposal, the two were cornered by reporters when they attended Gary Valeciano’s concert on Tuesday. “Amazing. It’s been overwhelming the past 48 hours of being really really special. Everyone has been so supportive, everyone on Twitter, our friends and our family. It’s been really good,” Jones said. For his part, Rosales said he now thinks of himself as more “macho” after Jones agreed to marry him. “Sobrang kaba ko and then nung umoo siya sa akin, hindi ko alam kung ano 'yung nag-iba. Parang mas masaya ako ngayon, mas kumpleto, mas excited sa buhay, mas ganado sa trabaho. I know that great things are ahead of us, hindi ko pa ma-explain hanggang ngayon, hindi ko pa maipasok sa sistema ko. Basta alam ko lang umoo siya,” he said. Rosales said he has been thinking of the perfect occasion to propose to Jones but believes it just happened at the right time. “I prayed about it hard but matagal na rin 'yung desire ko to ask Kim na. I started preparing for it emotionally, physically, mentally, financially. When I looked at it, sabi ko everything’s ready, okay na,” he said. Both said they are planning a beach wedding since it was also in a beach here in the Philippines where their relationship began. “One of the first times we really started to date was when he took me to the beach in La Union and he taught me how to surf. That’s sort of what started the whole dreamy eyes. We have a lot of things in common – surfing, travelling. I think that’s why it worked,” she said. According to Rosales, they have yet to pick a date and a place to tie the knot, but said it will definitely be in the country. “Dito lang, maganda dito sa atin eh. Maraming magagandang beach. Huwag na tayo lumayo,” he said.

Jericho no regrets about 'Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala'

MANILA – Actor Jericho Rosales has no regrets as he praised the successful debut of the new ABS-CBN series “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawala.” Rosales was supposed to be part of the series but dropped out due to conflicts of schedule. Actor John Estrada was tapped to replace him. In an interview with ABS-CBN News at the sidelines of the 2013 Gaward Urian on Tuesday, Rosales said he is very happy that viewers would get to enjoy yet another riveting “teleserye.” “Alam ko pinaghirapan nila 'yun. Maganda ang lumabas na produkto. Si John Estrada, magaling 'yun na actor. I don’t want to look at it na anything negative. I’m proud of the team. Alam kong magaling 'yung team behind it,” he said. While he does not regret losing the role, Rosales said it was just unfortunate that he could not do the series when it was initially offered to him. “May mga roles na dadating sa 'yo, may mga desisyon na dadating sa 'yo. At the end of the day, it’s the project. It’s not about you, it’s about the project,” he said. “Huwag Ka Lang Mawawal” aired its pilot episode on Monday, seizing the No. 1 spot in the series' time slot. According to data from multi-national market research group Kantar Media, the Primetime Bida offering garnered 27.1% in national TV ratings, while its closest competing program, "Mundo Mo'y Akin," registered 15.1%. The series is topbilled by Judy Ann Santos, who is dubbed as the country’s "Queen of Soap Opera."

Jericho Rosales opens up about girlfriend Kim

MANILA, Philippines -- Jericho Rosales was ready to quit showbiz and leave for New York when he met Kim Jones, who is now his girlfriend for more than a year. In an interview on the late-night talk show "Martin Late @ Night" aired Friday, the 33-year-old actor said he was introduced to Jones, an Australian national, by a common friend. At the time, Rosales said he had already set his mind to leave the Philippines, citing struggles in his personal life and career. "That was the time when I wanted to give up already, when I wanted to move to New York, that was before signing up with ABS-CBN ... and then I met Kim," he said. Jones, a commercial model and TV host, in an earlier interview said her first meeting with Rosales was in March 2011. She said she didn't know that she was being set up with a popular actor. It wasn't until two months later when they met again, according to Jones. The lifestyle show host shared that Rosales eventually won her over through their shared passion for sports and his sense of humor. They became a couple in October 2011. "It's very seldom that you meet a person in this business na talagang parang normal person," Rosales said of his girlfriend during his interview on "Martin Late @ Night." "Parang, like, whatever happens, parang walang arte sa katawan, talagang chill lang talaga, parang normal person," he said. During the talk show's episode, host Martin Nievera showed a white rectangular clock with markings on its surface. Referring to the writings, Rosales said they are "great and awesome memories [of my relationship with Kim], funny things we want to remember. We just want to remember special moments." In February, the Kapamilya actor said he has discussed "settling down" with Jones. "Pinag-usapan namin, pinagbibiruan namin. I think I found the one for me and that's her," he said.
