Kris, Kim, Bea join forces to help quake victims

MANILA -- Host-actress Kris Aquino gave donations to the Philippine Red Cross (PRC) last Friday to help earthquake victims in Cebu and Bohol. In an episode of her morning show, "Kris TV," aired on Monday, Aquino personally gave her donation to PRC secretary general Gwendolyn Pang. "I decided to give proceeds from the three-day Kris Aquino Sale," she said. Addressing people who criticize her for publicizing her charity work, Aquino said: "People were asking me if you are helping, why do you have to publicize it? Parang gusto ko sabihin, 'you have talaga to encourage other people.' "Parang kailangan mong iparamdam that there are people who care, hindi 'yung kumportable ka, kumportable ang mga anak mo ay okay na. Importante talaga na mayroon kang malasakit kasi you don't know the time will come na ikaw naman 'yung nagsa-suffer and how would you feel if nobody cared about you," she explained. According to Aquino, her close friend, actress Kim Chiu, will also help in rebuilding century-old churches in quake-hit areas. "I was getting a lot of feedback na tinatanong niyo sa akin. Ang nababasa ko naman na, 'what about Chinita Princess na si Kim Chiu?' Kim and I are talking last night and she said, 'Ate kung ikaw toka niyo ni Bea ngayon ang Red Cross, toka ko ang simbahan.' Kasi nakapunta na ang 'Kris TV' doon sa [Bohol] they are so welcoming and so nice, so sabi ko kailangan mayroon tayong gawin talaga," she said. Following the successful premiere of her newest film, "She's The One," actress Bea Alonzo also gave donations to the PRC to help victims of the recent earthquake in central Visayas. "Parang it's all about setting an example. If you are blessed, you share it," Alonzo said.
