MANILA – Sam Milby has gained major “pogi points” with actress Jessy Mendiola after publicly admitting that he is currently courting her.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Mendiola said it is not often that guys in showbiz go on record just to reveal their intentions about a girl.
“Siguro mataas siya [compared to others] in a way kasi umamin siya. Plus pogi points talaga iyon. I really think that’s a good thing. It’s overwhelming and I’m flattered,” she said.
Having said this, ABS-CBN News asked Mendiola why Milby did not escort her during the recently concluded Star Magic Ball.
“Kasi baka maraming magalit?" she replied. "Nagkataon lang kasi na si Sam 'yung umamin sa TV kaya siya ang nasasabing napili ko. The thing is, siya lang ang nagkaroon ng lakas ng loob na magsabi na siya 'yung nanliligaw.”
“Nagkataon lang kasi talagang nasanay lang din akong mag-isa [mag-attend ng ball]. Sabi ko mas mabuti siguro na mag-isa na lang muna ako. Gusto ko kapag nag-escort ako, kami na. So mas mabuti na lang na ako na lang muna,” she explained.
The actress said arriving at the annual ball alone is really a non-issue.
“For me it’s not a big deal na mag-isa lang ako sa red carpet. I don’t know why people are making it such a big deal. Nagkita-kita din naman kami sa loob,” she said.
As for rumors that Milby is guarding her against other guys, the actress said: “Nakakatuwa na siguro siya 'yung hindi nahihiya na lumapit kasi alam na ng tao kasi nanliligaw siya so given nang lalapit siya sa ball. Sa ibang lalaki naman, sa ibang may mga gustong lumapit, ewan ko kung bakit hindi sila lumapit.”
“The Buzz” reported on Sunday that aside from Milby, actor Jake Cuenca is also allegedly wooing Mendiola.
Meanwhile, Mendiola admitted that she somehow felt pressured following Milby’s admission because they have yet to get to know each other more.
“Pressure for me kasi parang wala pa naman, kailan lang ba siya umamin, just two weeks ago? It’s too early to tell, too early to say na close kami,” she said.
