Lamar Odom may have just broken his public silence last night, but he hasn't been off the radar completely.
He and wife Khloé Kardashian Odom, who will mark four years of marriage on Friday, have been in contact while Lamar has been dealing with various issues, including his Aug. 30 arrest for alleged DUI, a source exclusively tells E! News.
We've been told that Khloé and her family found Lamar's lengthy Twitter post last night—in which he slammed his estranged father, Joe, for disrespecting the "ONLY FAMILY that has loved me without expecting anything in return"—to be "promising news to the entire family."
Lamar's post was also "very emotional for everyone," the source added. "It's always been nothing but love. They hope Lamar's finally on the right track."
Similarly, an insider told us after Lamar's DUI bust that the family was hoping the legal run-in would be "a wake-up call" for the NBA player, who has battled substance abuse issues. He has been charged with one count of misdemeanor driving under the influence
In his tweet, Lamar also mentioned his father's trouble with drugs, which he first talked about on a 2011 episode of Khloé & Lamar.
"I have let this man and many others get away with a lot of s--t. He wasn't there 2 raise me," Lamar wrote. "He was absent ALL of my life due to his own demons. My mother and grandmother raised me. Queens raised me...He is my downfall! His own demons may be the ONLY thing he gave 2 me."
A source told E! News last week, meanwhile, that Khloé was "obviously very upset," but had decided on "no more interventions, no more trying to save him."
"Khloé gave Lamar an ultimatum: If he didn't get help, she'd end the marriage," the insider said. "So far, he's ignoring her."
