MANILA – Angel Locsin said she would love to portray the role of Filipino superheroine Darna again if the ABS-CBN management gives her the opportunity.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Locsin said Darna has already become part of her and it would delight her to give life to the character again.
“Ako kasi si Darna, feeling ko talaga eh. Kahit hindi ibigay ulit sa akin ang bato, part na siya ng pagkatao ko. 'Yung magkaroon ako ng opportunity at nagawa ko naman nang maayos 'yung duty ko bilang si Darna, malaking bagay na 'yun sa akin. Pero kung magbabalik ako, okay lang,” she said.
Locsin has already been given the opportunity to star as Darna on television in 2005. The most recent TV incarnation of Darna is actress Marian Rivera, who appeared in a 2009 series by GMA-7.
Meanwhile, Locsin said she would not feel bad if the management gives the role to other actresses.
“Pwede din kasing ibigay sa younger generation. Ayaw ko naman ipagkait. Iba rin ang naitulong sa akin ni Darna. Iba 'yung pagdating sa career. Bawat isa sa atin, may hero na nakatago diyan, so parang nabuhay sa akin 'yun. Ayaw kong ipagdamot sa iba 'yung experience na 'yun,” she said.
ABS-CBN recently acquired exclusive rights to "Darna," one of Mars Ravelo's popular works.
It has yet to choose who will portray the Pinay superhero, but Locsin, KC Concepcion, Cristine Reyes, Sarah Geronimo and Jessy Mendiola have been considered by many as potential perfect fits for the role.
