Vilma personally asked for 'Sir Chief' in 'Ekstra'

MANILA, Philippines -- Batangas Governor and Star for All Seasons Vilma Santos revealed that it was her personal choice to get Kapamilya star Richard Yap to be part of her first indie movie, "Ekstra." During a press conference of "Ekstra" on Thursday, Santos said she requested to have Yap in the film because she's a big fan of the ABS-CBN hit daytime series "Be Careful With My Heart." "Si Papa Chen, special request po 'yon. Si Papa Chen special request ko kay direk ...ah si Sir Chief na siya ngayon," Santos said, using the names of Yap's characters in "My Binondo Girl" and "Be Careful With My Heart." "Sabi ko, 'Direk, ang dami nating big stars baka naman pwedeng lumabas din dito si Sir Chief," she added. "Kasi fan ako ng 'Be Careful With My Heart.' Kapag nasa bahay ako nanonood ako talaga at alam ko talaga at nai-in love ako sa karakter nilang dalawa ni Jodi," she said, referring to the series' female lead star Jodi Sta. Maria. Aside from Yap, Santos also thanked actress Marian Rivera and Kapamilya actor Piolo Pascual for appearing in "Ekstra." "Thank you sa lahat ng mga nakasama pero a very, very special thanks kay Piolo Pascual na anak ko sa 'Dekada '70,'" she said. On Thursday, Santos personally received her best actress trophy from the 2013 Cinemalaya for her performance in "Ekstra" since she couldn't attend the awards night last Sunday because of a prior commitment.
