MANILA, Philippines -- After her controversial separation with husband Cesar Montano, actress Sunshine Cruz said she's happy with her life and newfound independence.
In her official Instagram account, Cruz proudly announced that she will be turning 36 on July 28.
"I'm proud of my age, independence and I could honestly say I'm in a much better place now," Cruz said.

"I thank God for another year. Maraming salamat po sa lahat ng bumati. Good morning everyone," Cruz said.
After her comeback project "Dugong Buhay," Cruz is now gearing up for a new television project.
Cruz revealed that she started working for ABS-CBN's upcoming fantasy series "Galema" with Andi Eigenmann in the title role. In the new series, Cruz will also be working with her cousin actress Sheryl Cruz.
New boyfriend?
Meanwhile, actress Sunshine joked about Montano's comment that she has found a new boyfriend by posting a photo of her and her make-up artist with caption: "Love you Erlie Bentayao aka Vans #myboyfriend :p"

On Tuesday, Cruz said she was 'speechless' when number of Twitter users asked her about a new boyfriend, saying that the rumor came from Montano himself.
