MANILA, Philippines -- Actor Piolo Pascual on Thursday vowed to support the dreams of his son Iñigo, who has signified his desire to follow his father's footsteps in show business.
"Hindi ko alam kung saan niya nga nakuha 'yon, pero gustong-gusto niyang mag-artista," Pascual said as he renewed his contract with ABS-CBN.
Pascual was accompanied by Inigo, who is currently in the country for a vacation.
"Susuportahan natin 'yan bata, anak mo 'yan. Kahit anong gawin niya kapag dumating sa punto na kailangan niyang mag-decide for his own, you just have to be there to support," Pascual added.
The "Apoy sa Dagat" actor said his only condition is for his son to finish his studies first before pursuing a showbiz career.
"Our only deal is for him to at least finish high school," Pascual said, noting that his son is active in his school's theater program.
"So, I guess he's been bitten by the bug kasi nagmu-musical siya -- 'Godspell' -- and for this school year, he's gearing up for the next school play. Hindi natin mapipigilan," he said.
"That's the only deal I have with him. Kapag 18 na 'yan, hindi mo na mapipigilan 'yan. If you ask me, of course, I want him to finish college first so he will have a degree, something to fall back on. Iba 'yung kahit paano may knowledge ka. Kahit paano marunong kang humarap sa tao na may nalalaman ka," he explained.
Pascual said that he is planning to celebrate Father's Day with his only child after "ASAP 18."
