MANILA – While she has already turned 18, actress Julia Montes feels it is not yet time for her to do love or kissing scenes.
The actress, however, clarified that this does not mean she is not willing to do such scenes in her future projects.
“I can’t say I’m super open to it. But if you ask me, if it can be avoided, I will avoid it. I’m super young pa,” she said in an interview with The Philippine Star.
As an actress, Montes said she she also wants the TV show to have a good plot. And if it does require love or kissing scenes, she will give it serious thought.
“If it’s really necessary, if it can improve the show, then maybe… Maybe, I can do it. But not soon. It’s also going to give me a different kind of pressure,” she said.
Montes had her first onscreen kiss in her movie with actor Coco Martin, “A Moment In Time.”
It was earlier reported that Montes’ grandmother strictly guarded the shoot of her granddaughter’s kissing scene, saying Montes is still too young for that.
Meanwhile, Montes said she is more comfortable doing heavy-drama roles, like the character she portrayed in last year's top-rating series “Walang Hanggan.”
Montes said she doesn’t mind being given more roles like that because it challenges her. “Not all artists are given that kind of opportunity — a serious, mature role for my age. For that, I’m happy and blessed,” she told Star.
Montes’ next project is “Muling Buksan Ang Puso” with Enrique Gil and Enchong Dee. Unlike her role in “Walang Hanggan,” the 18-year-old actress said her character in this series isn’t too mature this time.
“Young ang makikita ng tao; maybe ABS wants to remind viewers that I’m just 18,” she said.
Aside from Montes, Dee and Gil, also part of the show are Daniel Fernando, Dominic Ochoa, Matt Evans, Jane Oineza, Cherie Gil, Dante Rivero and veteran actress Susan Roces.
Amalia Fuentes was originally part of the cast but had resigned from the show “due to creative differences with the production team and the challenges and demands of regular taping schedules.”
According to ABS-CBN head of Corporate Communications Bong Osorio, Fuentes's replacement will be announced soon.
