MANILA – Basketball star James Yap on Tuesday was a picture of a happy father as he posted a photo of him with his son Bimby on the image-sharing site Instagram (seen above).
While it is not clear whether Yap was indeed finally able to spend time with his 6-year-old son again, he seemed grateful as seen in his photo caption.
“Thank You Lord,” the 31-year-old athlete said.
Yap has been prohibited from being within 100 meters of Bimby and his ex-wife, television host Kris Aquino, under a protection order, which the actress-host herself sought.
The order stems from an incident last December 3, when Yap allegedly attempted to "force himself" on Aquino in front of their son, and three other incidents in January and March where the basketball star allegedly caused "distress" on Bimby.
Yap has denied making such "amorous advances" on Aquino, and has accused his former wife of "brainwashing" their child.
Aquino and Yap were married in civil rites in July 2005. Their marriage was declared null in February last year, following allegations of infidelity on Yap's part.
Yap no longer has custody of Bimby, but was allowed to visit his son 109 times in a year by court until the issuance of the TPO.
The child lives with Aquino along with his half-brother, Joshua.
