MANILA – John Lloyd Cruz indirectly admitted that there was a point in his life when he also fell in love with Sarah Geronimo, who was his leading lady in a romantic-comedy trilogy.
In an interview with “The Buzz” on Sunday, Cruz asked: “How is it possible not to fall in love with someone like Sarah?”
This triggered cheers from the audience as Geronimo, who was then seated beside Cruz, also blushed.
But according to Cruz, he is already more than happy to just share a good onscreen chemistry with the singer-actress.
“Wala naman siyang secret ['yung teamup namin]. Parang every chemistry naman, iba 'yung chemistry ko let’s say with Toni, iba-iba siya eh. Para siyang gift or blessing na nabibigay sa dalawang tao dahil magkakaiba, hindi pare-pareho,” he explained.
Geronimo, on the other hand, attributed their onscreen chemistry to their good working relationship.
“Importante ang magandang working relationship. Ito ang best working relationship namin. 'Yung first one, totoong totoo ‘yung kilig. Pati 'yung second totoo din. Komportable na kami,” she said.
According to Cruz, both of them are also privileged to have been given the characters of Miggy Montenegro and Laida Magtalas because their stories are close to their real-life experiences.
“Na-realize ko nga, after doing three stories, sabi ko sobra siyang organic. Siguro ganun din tinira ni Direk Cathy and nung writer namin, they got their inspiration sa amin mismo,” he said.
Cruz and Geronimo’s third movie together titled “It Takes A Man And A Woman” opened in theaters nationwide on Black Saturday. It has already earned at least P32.6 million on its first day of release in theaters.
