After being launched as part of this year's Star Magic Circle batch 19, former Goin' Bulilit' talent Jane Oineza admitted that 2013 has been a good year so far for her career. For her standout role as a rape victim in Maalaala Mo Kaya earlier this year, she received a nomination in the Best Actress category at the 2013 New York Festivals and is competing with Hollywood actresses like Julia Stiles and Troian Bellisario. The 16-year-old actress admitted she actually prefers doing heavier roles now. “Kasi from the start, talagang hinihintay ko na bigyan ako ng break na talagang mapapakita ko kung ano yung kaya ko and to prove myself. Kaya sobrang gusto ko heavy drama kasi I think dun mapapakita yung emotions,” she admitted. Jane said she has waited for a long time to be given meaty roles that can prove she has grown up as an actress. “Actually thankful ako na nabigay sa akin mga heavy roles kasi siyempre pinagkatiwalaan nila ako to do that and ibig sabihin they have that idea that I can do it pero, yes, I love to do heavy drama and I'm not really sure why but kung puwede rin siguro light, okay lang din like rom-com, mga ganun, cutie. Pero kasi kaya ko gusto ang heavy drama, I want to prove myself na I can do it,” she shared. The talented actress also admitted she wants to be as successful as her contemporaries in the business like Julia Montes. “Hopefully sana kahit marating ko rin yung narating nila, kung saan sila ngayon sana kahit papaano marating ko rin yun,” she said. After finding out she was a finalist in the New York Festivals, Jane said she was in disbelief that they noticed her performance. “Actually hindi ako makapaniwala at first. Parang really? Pero sobrang I'm so honored and very overwhelming yung experience. They will announce the winners on April 9. I'm so nervous kasi there's two nominees from the US and ako lang yung sa Philippines,” she added. Jane said she does not mind being pegged as a dramatic actress despite her young age because that's where she wants her career path to be. “Nahuhugot ko rin siguro yung emotions ko from acting from life (laughs). Kasi I'm serious with what I'm doing kaya I guess medyo mature din yung mga answers ko and yung roles na tinatanggap ko,” she said. Jane is part of Star Magic Batch 19 along with Khalil Ramos, Julia Barretto, Julian Estrada, Michelle Vito, Jerome Ponce, Janella Salvador, Kit Thompson, Alex Diaz, Ingrid Dela Paz, and Jon Lucas.
