MANILA, Philippines—Actor and singer Subas Herrero, has passed away, his son and showbiz friends said Friday.
Herrero, Ricardo Wright Herrero in real life, died of double pneumonia in the US, according to Gary Lising and Jun Urbano. Herrero and Lising worked together in the 1980s hit comedy show “Champoy”.
Noel Trinidad, Herrero’s other half in “Champoy”, said he got a call from Herrero’s wife Maripaz who confirmed the news.
Trinidad said Herrero, who would have turned 70 on April 3, died in Rochester, New York.
Herrero’s youngest son, Choy, said his father passed away at 2 a.m.
His remains will be cremated in New York, Choy said.
Herrero is survived by his wife and five children.
