Gerald suggests cast for 'OTJ' Hollywood remake

LAWNDALE, California -- Together with fellow Kapamilya stars, Gerald Anderson made his US-based fans happy when they met him at the "Teleserye Bidas" show in Southern California last Saturday. The actor is known as one the Philippines' current in-demand actors and has achieved a lot in his young career. Now that many of his dreams have come true, is the actor thinking of settling down in the near future? "Of course not,” he said, laughing. “Grabe, of course not. Nakakatakot naman ‘yan! Of course not. I'm just enjoying kung ano man ang meron ako ngayon. Bata pa naman ako. One of my main focus right now is my career and acting." The actor also responded to reports that he had a falling out with girlfriend Maja Salvador. "Akala ko ikakasal na kami?” he said in jest, laughing. “No, we're just enjoying every moment. Ako as a person na rin, I'm just enjoying life.” “I'm only 24, ang dami ko pang gustong gawin," he added. Anderson is happy that his movie "On The Job" will get a Hollywood remake. As reported by ABS-CBN News in September, Baltasar Kormákur, the director of Hollywood movies "2 Guns" and "Contraband," is on board to direct and co-produce the remake. Universal Pictures has optioned the rights to the crime thriller. Anderson said he has a couple of Hollywood actors in mind for the role that he originated. “Bilang Daniel? I think si Mark Walhberg, kayang-kaya, or Leonardo DiCaprio, siyempre. Nangarap lang naman. Pero ‘yon, sila. Ang gagaling nila eh, sila ‘yung mga idol namin,” he said. On what roles he prefers to take on in the future, Anderson said, “I think something that will challenge me.” “Syempre gusto natin matsa-challenge eh. Hindi natin gusto ‘yung paulit-ulit na ginagawa natin. ‘Di naman kailangang big role or small role, basta effective at malalim ‘yung role,” he said.

Maja Salvador shrugs off Gerald Anderson’s alleged infidelity

092813-Maja_Main.jpg

Ten years in the industry has taught actress Maja Salvador to choose positivity every single time. That very same principle applies to the current controversy hounding her relationship with Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin actor Gerald Anderson. According to the rumor mill, the actor has purportedly carried on his onscreen romance with On The Job co-star Dawn Jimenez off screen and behind Maja’s back. "Sa industriya natin hindi naman po talaga mawawala ang pagli-link sa mga ka-partner natin sa isang pelikula. Sa akin normal nalang yun,” Maja replied during an interview at the “Maja unveils @ 10” press conference on Tuesday when asked about the issue. The rumors even went as far as saying that Gerald was seen visiting Dawn’s condo unit during the wee hours of the morning. “Hindi ko alam,” was Maja’s curt reply when asked if there’s even a grain of truth to that rumor. But surely she has heard of these rumors, has she confronted the Kapamilya actor about them? “Di na kailangang tanungin kasi mas importante ang actions sa akin kaysa sa mga sabi-sabi,” she highlighted, further adding that, "Kung may tiwala ka sa isang tao, panindigan mo lang 'yung tiwalang 'yun. Kasi mahirap pag mag-doubt ka sa isang taong malapit sa 'yo." Maja even maintained that she wasn’t even affected by Gerald’s steamy love scene with the indie film actress in their internationally-acclaimed film. "Artista kami, ano ba 'yon. It's part of the job, he's on the job," she said in jest. Despite persistent rumors, the actress claimed that there’s no bad blood between her and Dawn. In fact, according to her, she even invited Dawn to the special screening that she organized for On The Job. Meanwhile, another detail that seems to be have spawned conclusions that she’s going through something in her personal life were her recent Instagram posts. Two weeks ago, the 24-year-old actress posted a photo of her and her beau laughing carelessly while walking in what appears to be a garden with the caption: “Miserable people focus on the things they hate about their life. Happy people focus on the things they love about their life #quote” This was followed by a blind item from a blog which showed a screenshot of the photos which Maja “liked” on the same photo-sharing site. Among the photos shown on the said blog, the one that has drawn attention the most was the typography of the famous quote “This too shall pass. ” When asked to elaborate, Maja just laughed and said, “Wala po. Mukha ba akong may pinagdaraanan? Fresh ako ngayon.” She added, “Sa akin kung ano po ang na-post ko sa IG ‘yun na po ‘yun eh, ‘di ko na kailangang mag-explain.” As for the posts that she “liked” Maja clarified that liking them doesn’t necessarily mean that she’s sharing the sentiment of the one who posted it, saying that, “‘Yung mga ganon, wala po ‘yun. Kung may ni-like man ako, support ko ‘yun doon sa nag-post hindi dahil ‘yun ang nararamdaman ko.” Instead of harboring any ill will towards the ones starting these rumors, Maja said she understands the fact that they need to make a living. “Hindi ko alam kung bakit sa dinami dami ng nila-like ko hindi ko alam ba’t nagawan nila ng storya ‘yun. Sa akin natatawa lang ako. Siyempre may mga kailangan magtrabaho, may mga kailangan gumawa ng storya so siyempre wala akong magagawa. ‘Yun eh, nai-like ko na eh alangan naming bawiin ko pa,” she said. Notwithstanding all these rumors, Maja still considers her relationship with Gerald as “tahimik.” But what does she have to say to those trying to rock her current relationship? "Gano'n naman eh, hindi mawawala 'yon. Halos lahat mag-aabang ng breakup niyo, kung sino 'yung susunod niyo. Basta ang pinaka-importante alam niyo sa isa't-isa na pinoprotektahan niyo ang isa't-isa at may tiwala kayo sa isa't-isa," she said.

Dawn speaks up on 'secret date' with Gerald

Manila - "OTJ" actress Dawn Jimenez denied rumors that actor Gerald Anderson is secretly visiting her. "Hindi totoo. Unang-una wala akong number nya, wala din syang number ko so imposible naman na makapunta doon. Saka di naman ako ganoong klaseng tao," said Jimenez, who played Anderson's girlfriend in the film "OTJ." Jimenez stressed she would never allow herself to ruin a relationship. Anderson is currently in a relationship with actress Maja Salvador. "Ayaw kong maging third wheel," she said. 'Jealous' Maja eases up on Gerald

MANILA -- Maja Salvador admitted being a jealous girlfriend in her previous relationships. But according to the 24-year-old actress, that's changed. Now in a relationship with actor Gerald Anderson, Salvador said she has learned to control her emotions, allowing her to be more lenient with her partner. Salvador was previously in a relationship with actor Matteo Guidicelli. "Selosa ako eh, pero ngayon nako-control ko eh. Kung dati mapang-check ako ng phone, ngayon, wala," she said in an interview on "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday. "Parang feeling ko kasi, may mga bagay na... parang 'di ba, meron kayong sine-share sa isa't isa. Meron din naman 'yung sa sarili mo lang," Salvador added. Asked how she is as a girlfriend, the actress related she gains fulfillment when she gives people dear to her a reason to be happy. "Buhos eh. Alam ko pa rin naman kung paano magtira sa sarili ko, pero gusto ko 'yung mga mahal ko sa buhay, hangga't kayo kong gawing happy sila, mapasaya sila, kahit sa maliliit lang na bagay, gagawin ko. Kasi sobrang mahalaga sa 'kin pag nakikita ko na napapangiti sila," she said. Agreeing when asked whether she considers Anderson "perfect" for her, Salvador said mere words cannot express how much she values her relationship with the actor. "Kulang ang words. Kasi grabe rin naman siya magparamdam kung gaano ako ka-espesyal," she said. The celebrity couple, who are both artists of Star Magic, was embroiled in a controversy early this year in relation to their ties with fellow Kapamilya talent Kim Chiu. Chiu was known to be a  close friend of Salvador, until the latter admitted seeing Anderson. The actor and Chiu broke up in 2010. On whether she and Anderson have managed to move on from the controversy, which saw them as the target of criticisms, Salvador said, "Sobrang okay [na kami], masaya." "Hindi mo nararamdaman ang problema, ang mga sterss sa buhay. Parang, syempre, it's your choice kung paano mo iha-handle 'yung mga problems at nangyayari sa buhay mo. "It's your choice kung didibdibin mo at lagi mong iintindihin 'yun, or maging positive ka lang. And I am happy," she said.

Maja supports Gerald's charity event

MANILA – Actress Maja Salvador is very proud of her boyfriend, actor Gerald Anderson, who organized the Hero Ko charity basketball game at the Makati Coliseum on Sunday. Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Salvador said she rarely sees Anderson play basketball so she did her best to make it to the game. “Siguro pang third time ko pa lang siya napapanood mag-basketball. Nakakatuwa na napapanood ko 'yung ibang talent niya, hindi lang puro acting,” she said. Salvador said it also makes her happy that Anderson knows how to share his blessings. In a separate interview, Anderson said the kids of Hero Foundation are close to his heart because they are sons and daughters of soldiers who died in action. “Hero Ball is a charity basketball game for the Hero Foundation. Ito ang tumutulong sa mga anak ng mga sundalong namatay in action. Siyempre gusto pa din nila mag-aral and the Hero Foundation helps them do that. Lahat ng proceeds ng event will go to the Hero Foundation and sa mga scholars,” he said. Asked why he chose the Hero Foundation, Andersons said: “Pangarap kong maging sundalo talaga. It’s my ultimate dream. As we speak, feeling ko sundalo ako kaya 'yung teams mamaya Marines and Army.” This is not the first time Anderson organized a charity basketball game to help the underprivileged. The actor has also joined numerous relief operations -- the last one was after the onslaught of typhoon Maring which hit parts of Luzon in August.

What Gerald learned from Maja

MANILA - Actor Gerald Anderson opened up about his relationship with actress Maja Salvador. In an interview aired on the ABS-CBN morning show "Umagang Kay Ganda" on Friday, Anderson shared what he believes are the reasons why his relationship with Salvador remains strong. Gerald, Piolo saddened by misuse of public funds

MANILA – “On The Job” lead actors Piolo Pascual and Gerald Anderson expressed disappointment over the alleged misuse of public funds by some government officials. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, both actors said it is sad that they do their part in paying the right amount of taxes only to see their money go to other people's pockets. “Bilang taxpayer, kami 'yung naka-front eh. Kami 'yung mga sinasabing malalaking tax, so sana ganun din ang mga taong nasa upuan. Kanya kanya naman tayo ng trabaho. Maging totoo lang tayo, maging tapat lang tayo,” Pascual said. Anderson, on the other hand, said it is disgusting that the politicians who were elected to represent the people are the same ones who take away what’s supposed to be theirs. “Masarap mag-charity events but at the end of the day, iniisip mo dapat mas may tulong tayo from them (polticians). Pero wala, 'yung pera, they take it for themselves. People are dying because of the money na nasa kanila,” he said. Anderson said he hopes to see erring officials apprehended for their crimes. “Siyempre after ng mga nangyari sa atin last week, kita mo ang kahirapan. Kami artista kami, ang laki ng binabayaran naming tax but at the end of the day mayroon pa kaming pambili ng pagkain para sa pamilya namin. Paano ang mga normal na tao, 'yung may mas mababang sweldo?” he said. He added: “Sana mahuli [yung mga korap]. Hindi 'yung mga kagaya dati na alam natin kung sinong gumawa pero walang nangyari.” Pascual and Anderson made their comments in light of Monday's protest to abolish the Priority Development Assistance Fund or the pork barrel. Thousands gathered in what has been dubbed as the "Million People March" to Rizal Park in Manila to send across to government officials their common battle cry. Participants from different walks of life arrived denouncing the misuse of pork barrel.

Zanjoe speaks up on Bea's past with Gerald

MANILA – Actor Zanjoe Marudo admitted he was not affected even after his girlfriend, actress Bea Alonzo, bared details about her past relationship with actor Gerald Anderson. In an exclusive interview with Yes! Magazine for its July 2013 issue, Alonzo for the first time talked about her short-lived romance with Anderson, describing it as a "roller-coaster ride." Alonzo said she experienced extreme emotions as she and Anderson faced public criticism and the disapproval of someone closer to home. Speaking to “The Buzz,” Marudo said he understood that Alonzo had to share details about her past since it was among the questions asked during the magazine interview. “Tinanong siya so kailangan sabihin niya talaga lahat iyon. Hindi naman [ako affected],” he said. Marudo, who has been in a steady relationship with Alonzo for two years now, said he did not feel insecure upon learning about his girlfriend’s past romance. “Tapos na iyon eh. Ang pag-uusapan natin dapat yung present na ‘di ba?” he said. Marudo and Alonzo became a couple in April 2011. While they have been vocal about their love for each other, both decided to focus on their respective careers first before deciding to settle down. In one of his previous interviews, Marudo revealed that he is already saving up for an engagement ring for Alonzo. "Pinagpaplanuhan muna siyempre ang proposal bago ang kasal. Wala pa namang [plano], siguro kapag sigurado na akong 'oo' ang sagot," he said. "Naghihintay lang ako na makaipon [ng] pambili ng singsing. Siyempre, bibili ka ng maganda kasi minsan lang mangyari sa buhay 'yun," he added. Alonzo, on the other hand, had said that she sees herself tying the knot with Marudo in five years.

Gerald can't wait for viewers to see new series

MANILA – Gerald Anderson could not wait any longer for his new series “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” to hit the TV screens. “We’re all very excited. May shinoot akong isang eksena noong isang araw na sobrang drama, action-packed, so sana abangan ng marami yun,” Anderson said. Anderson said though that it is okay for him that his series won’t air “very soon” since ABS-CBN has a lot of other good projects lined up. “Marami pang magandang shows ngayon so we just have to wait and see... Sa right time pa siguro. Abangan niyo po, I’m sure magugustuhan niyo,” he said. Aside from Anderson, “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin” will also feature Cristine Reyes and Rayver Cruz. In the Kapamilya soap, childhood friends Amanda (Reyes) and Miguel (Anderson) temporarily part as she leaves for another country. Also starring Dina Bonnevie and Dawn Zulueta, "Bukas Nalang Kita Mamahalin" will premiere soon on ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida block. Cannes hangover Meanwhile, Anderson admitted that he could not get over his experience at the Cannes International Film Festival. “’OTJ’ malapit na rin, abangan niyo po yan, it’s very exciting. Kumbaga sana po panoorin niyo kasi sobrang proud yung mga tao dahil mainit yung pagtanggap sa abroad. Sana dito rin. Sobrang proud lang ako bilang isang Pinoy at kasi nire-represent ko 'yung Pilipinas,” he said. Anderson said the success of “OTJ” at Cannes has inspired him and Cruz to do better in “Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin.” “Sobrang saya. Sabi ko nga kay Rayver, ‘Ray balik na tayo sa Pinas gusto ko na mag-taping’ dahil mas inspired ako bilang isang actor. Si Rayver din so lahat 'yun mapapanood niyo sa ‘Bukas Na Lang Kitang Mamahalin,’” he said. It was earlier reported that Anderson’”OTJ,” which also stars Piolo Pascual, received a standing ovation during its screening at this year’s Cannes International Film Festival. The Erik Matti-directed film was among the selections of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs or the Directors' Fortnight, a section at Cannes held independently by the French Directors Guild.

Gerald Anderson film eyed for Hollywood remake

'On the Job' to be released in the US MANILA, Philippines -- An action-thriller starring Gerald Anderson is being considered for a Hollywood remake, according to the actor. At the sidelines of the opening of the 18th French Film Festival in Makati City on Thursday, the 24-year-old actor said Hollywood producers have expressed interest in doing a remake of the Erik Matti-directed film "On The Job." "Sabi nila direk, 'yung kampo nila Mark Wahlberg tumawag para i-remake, atsaka nila Tom Cruise," Anderson told ABS-CBN News. He added: "Malay natin [matuloy]. Kami nga nakarating kami sa Cannes. Dreams do come true. Mag-focus lang kayo sa gusto niyo mangyari sa buhay niyo, at dahil kay Papa God, mangyayari 'yun." Produced by ABS-CBN's film production outfit, Star Cinema, "On The Job" held its world premiere in May at Directors' Fortnight section the prestigious Cannes International Film Festival, where it received a standing ovation. Recalling the proud moment, Anderson said, "Tinitingnan ko si Piolo, 'Bro, kaunti nalang iiyak na ako, eh.' Kasi talagang ang-init ng pagtanggap nila. Very proud day para sa mga Pinoy," he said. In "On The Job," Anderson portrays an inmate temporarily released from jail to become a contract killer for corrupt politicians. He is joined in the film by actor Piolo Pascual, who plays a National Bureau of Investigation agent. The cast also includes Joel Torre, Shaina Magdayao, Joey Marquez, and Angel Aquino. Prior to the screening of "On The Job" at Cannes, film distributor Well Go USA had acquired the North American rights to the film, according to a report on news website Indiewire. The film is planned to have a theatrical release in the United States in the last quarter of the year. "Sa simula ng career ko, never ko inimagine makakarating ako sa ganito, so I'm very thankful, very humbled," Anderson said. The Kapamilya star said he is also please with the increasing number of opportunities for local actors to cross over from mainstream cinema to indie films, and vice versa. "Nag-iba na 'yung style ngayon. Hindi lang 'yung mga indie actors ang gumagawa ng indie films, kundi kami naring mga mainstream actors. Grabe 'yung opportunity, eh," he said. "We're sharing our talent na rin, kung anuman 'yung kaya naming gawin for the indie industry, at ganun narin 'yung indie for mainstream," he added. Asked if he is willing to take up a possible Hollywood offer, following his recent exposure to an international audience, Anderson said, "Kung may offer, gusto ko ipakita na ang mga Pinoy may talent din. Kung may offer, yes, oo naman, para mapakita natin sa kanila."

What Gerald has learned from past loves

MANILA – If there is one thing Gerald Anderson has learned from his past relationships, it is to never hide the one he loves. That's why he finally admitted that he is in a relationship with actress Maja Salvador. “I would change not hiding the person I love. Wala akong pinagsisihan ni isang bagay sa buhay ko kasi we learn from it, but that, I would change,” he said in the June 2013 issue of StarStudio magazine. Anderson said this was among the reasons he decided to end all speculations about the real score between him and Salvador. After all, Anderson said he sees no point in still keeping it from the public. “Why should I hide this? Why should I hide the person I love? Why should I hide the person who gives me inspiration?” he asked. He added: “'Yun 'yung advice ko to these new kids who are coming out, never hide your relationship. I think that’s why people have the perception na parang ‘Is this guy for real?’ That’s why they get the perception na ginagamit ko 'yung love team.” The 24-year-old actor said that up to the day of the StarStudio interview , he still cannot believe that Salvador is already his girlfriend. Since they began going out late last year, the “friendship” of Anderson and Salvador was immediately met with intrigues, especially since Salvador was, at the time, the best friend of actress Kim Chiu, the former girlfriend of the “Budoy” star. But Anderson said the only way to proceed with their special relationship was to “keep moving.” “Alam mo kung mag-asawa man 'yan, mag-girlfriend, magkaibigan, may mga bumps 'yan eh. They’ll always go through the bumps. Minsan may malalaking bumps, minsan may maliliiit na bumps. Alam niyo 'yung mga village na exclusive? Di ba ang lalaki ng bumps doon? Parang ganun. Minsan nandoon ka, minsan nandun ka lang sa EDSA, mga maliliit na bumps,” he explained. “Ang pinakaimportante, you’re still driving at dirediretso ka. Kung sino man yung nakasakay sa kotse mo, just keep moving with that person. Huwag mo ilalagay sa reverse dahil kapag nilagay mo sa reverse eh di babalik ka lang sa hump,” he added. After his StarStudio interview, Anderson said he doesn’t want to further discuss his relationship with Salvador.

Maja says Gerald's love 'unexpected'

MANILA, Philippines – Maja Salvador didn't expect to end up being in a relationship with Gerald Anderson. In an interview with entertainment talk show "Showbiz Inside Report" aired Saturday, the 24-year-old actress said her boyfriend's outpouring of love and support for her was something she had not anticipated. "Masasabi ko lang 'yung pagmamahal unexpected talaga, at para sa 'kin mas maganda pala 'yun pag unexpected kasi hindi mo alam kung ano 'yung mangyayari sa relasyon niyo," Salvador said. The 24-year-old actor admitted the real score between him and Salvador in the June 2013 issue of entertainment magazine StarStudio. Asked if there has been any changes since they became officially a couple, the actress said, "Walang nabago, kasi tinanggap naman niya 'yung pagiging magaslaw ko o 'yung pagiging masiyahin ko, pagiging magulo ko, so walang kailangan baguhin." Since reports of the couple's blooming relationship first surfaced early this year, Salvador has been the target of criticisms on social media, with some netizens bringing up the relationship of Anderson with actress Kim Chiu. Chiu, the erstwhile best friend of Salvador, was in a relationship with Anderson until 2010. Asked if she has any message to her detractors and supporters alike, Salvador said, "Tamang panahon lang 'yung hinintay. At 'yun na nga, umamin na siya. Sana maging kontento at happy na po kayo dun sa nalaman niyo na kami na. Tapos 'yung ibang detalye pa sa relasyon namin, sana sa amin na lang."

Maja reacts to Gerald's confession

MANILA -- Maja Salvador said she is at a loss for words when met with greetings on her relationship with Gerald Anderson, which the actor recently confirmed. At the sidelines of the filming of her upcoming big-screen project with Sen. Jinggoy Estrada on Wednesday, the 24-year-old actress was asked for her reaction to her boyfriend going public with their relationship. "Marami ang nagsasabi na ang ganda ko raw, ang suwerte ko raw. 'Di ko alam paano sasagutin 'yun, e," Salvador was quoted as saying by entertainment news site Philippine Entertainment Portal. "Siguro sobrang blessed ko lang na ganun ako ka-importante sa buhay niya talaga," she said, referring to Anderson. The 24-year-old actor admitted the real score between him and Salvador in the June 2013 issue of entertainment magazine StarStudio. Last Sunday, Anderson said the decision to admit his romantic ties with Salvador was "for everybody's peace of mind," citing the endless speculations about their relationship. Anderson and Salvador's relationship, however, came at the cost of the actress' friendship with her "Ina, Kapatid, Anak" co-star and erstwhile best friend Kim Chiu. Chiu is the former girlfriend of Anderson. The two broke up in 2010. In an earlier interview, an emotional Chiu said she has already forgiven Anderson and Salvador, but added "it is difficult to forget what they did to you."

Gerald admits: 'Maja is my girlfriend'

MANILA – After evading the media for so long about the real score of his blossoming romance with Maja Salvador, Gerald Anderson, for the first time, admitted that the “Ina Kapatid Anak” actress is already his girlfriend. In a teaser posted by StarStudio magazine for its June 2013 issue, Anderson was quoted as saying “Yes, I’m in love with Maja Salvador” and “Yes, she’s my girlfriend.” The actor will reportedly dish out details about his relationship with Salvador in the magazine's June issue, which will soon be available in magazine stands. Furthermore, StarStudio, through its official Facebook account, said Anderson will discuss how he and Salvador fell in love. It was only this month when Anderson and Salvador first appeared live on television together. Last May 5, Anderson surprised Salvador by appearing on “ASAP” with a big bouquet of roses. During that episode, Anderson congratulated Salvador for being in showbiz for 10 years. “Happy anniversary sa 'yo. Deserved mo lahat ng blessings na mayroon ka, lahat ng fans mo. Napakabait mo sa pamilya mo, sa akin, kaya deserved mo lahat iyan. I'll always be here to protect you kaya huwag ka mag-alala,” he said. To which Salvador replied: “Thank you dumating ka sa buhay ko.” The blossoming romance between Anderson and Salvador made headlines back in January after actress Kim Chiu expressed regret over her "wasted" friendship with Salvador. Anderson was Chiu’s former boyfriend, while Salvador was her erstwhile best friend.

It just shows na kapag may pangarap ka, hindi siya imposible,” he said. Pascual, for his part, said making it to Cannes is a dream come true. “It's a dream come true and an answered prayer. We are all excited. We all wanted it to be included dito sa festival and now finally we are going,” he said. The Erik Matti-directed film is one of the selections of the Quinzaine des Réalisateurs or the Directors' Fortnight, a section at Cannes held independently by the French Directors Guild. In "OTJ," Pascual portrays a National Bureau of Investigation agent whose job puts him at odds with his wife played by Shaina Magdayao. Anderson, meanwhile, takes on the role of a "hitman" on the run. It also stars Joel Torre, Joey Marquez and Angel Aquino. The lone Filipino movie in the section will be screened alongside 30 other films -- 21 feature films and nine short films -- from around the world. Aside from "OTJ," two other Filipino films will participate in this year's Cannes. “Death March,” which stars Kapamilya actors Sam Milby and Zanjoe Marudo, will compete in the Un Certain Regard section of the annual film festival, along with another Filipino film, “Norte, Hangganan ng Kasaysayan” by acclaimed filmmaker Lav Diaz.

Gerald mum on rumors Maja's family feels neglected

MANILA – Gerald Anderson refused to comment on reports that the family of Maja Salvador allegedly feels neglected since he came into the actress’ life. In an interview with ABS-CBN News's Gretchen Fullido on Tuesday, Anderson said he is in no position to react to what has been reported. “I don’t think I’m the right person to ask about that. Pamilya po ng ibang tao iyon. You should ask them,” he said. Two weeks ago, Salvador’s mother, Thelma Andres, expressed reservations about the rumored romance between her daughter and Anderson. In an interview on “Showbiz Inside Report” that aired last April 6, Andres said she has yet to get to know the actor, who has openly admitted to courting Salvador. "Hindi pa masyado [kampante], anak, kasi nga hindi ko pa nakakasama. Maayos naman siyang kausap, at alam ko namang mabait na tao," Andres said. Asked for her message to Anderson, Salvador's mother said, "Basta hindi lang siya paiiyakin, hindi sasaktan. Ayoko lang kasi siya (Salvador) nakikitang ganoon kasi ako 'yung mas lalong nasasaktan." Anderson, for his part, said he understands how Andres feels. "Ganoon talaga, eh. Angel nila 'yon, eh, prinsesa nila 'yon," he said. Despite this, Anderson told ABS-CBN News that he and Salvador are enjoying each other’s company. “Okay naman [kami]. There’s no reason to go into details kumbaga. Happy kami, okay na iyon. Siyempre there’re always a right time and place for everything,” he said. And despite their respective hectic schedules, Anderson said they see to it that they have time for each other. Salvador stars in the top-rating primetime drama series "Ina Kapatid Anak," while Anderson is currently working on the upcoming series "Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin" with Cristine Reyes, Rayver Cruz and Dawn Zulueta. He is also set to appear in the movie "On the Job" with Piolo Pascual.
