Who is behind Chito-Neri sex videos?

MANILA -- The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has leads on the suspect in the viral spread of private videos of band vocalist Chito Miranda and his girlfriend Neri Naig. Following the release of a second sex video supposedly showing Miranda with Naig, the NBI on Tuesday said its investigation into the case has made progress. Miranda first brought the case to NBI on August 12, a week after the initial clip showing him and Naig having sex made the rounds online. At the time, the Parokya ni Edgar singer said he lost his hard drive, which contained the video files, in a theft. Referring to the case, NBI Cybercrime Division chief Vic Lorenzo said, "So far, may mga leads, and actually meron na lang kaming isang hard drive na hinihintay." "We are also coordinating with counterparts abroad to finally pinpoint 'yung source nung medyo compromising na video clip na first," he told ABS-CBN News' Niko Baua. Lorenzo said he is inclined to believe that both sex videos were uploaded by the same suspect, but added the investigation has yet to establish links. "Ang theory namin is iisa lang ang source. Itong part one na sinasabi nila, baka siya din ang source... Kaya lang noong nag-focus kami sa part two ng video, ili-link pa namin 'yan. Kasi we only started following some leads doon sa part two yesterday," he said. Anonymity as roadblock Noting the investigation is still ongoing, Lorenzo admitted tracking down suspects in internet-related cases has proven difficult compared to other crimes. "'Yung idea kasi, alam mo kung sino nag-upload. Proving it is another thing. Doon ang challenges natin, to prove na siya talaga ang nag-upload, or author nung uploading ng video," he said. The NBI official also pointed to the anonymity that internet users can afford in explaining why cybercrime cases can be difficult to handle. He went on to emphasize that those found guilty of violating Republic Act 9995, or the Anti-Photo and Video Voyeurism Act of 2009, may be imprisoned for a minimum of three years to a maximum of seven years. "Unang-una kasi, hindi mo regulated ang internet. Anybody could use the power of the internet, leverage on the power of Internet to create anonymity. Hindi mo malalaman kung sino, 'yun ang mga challenges namin. "Hindi katulad sa mga ordinary crimes na may footprints, fingerprints na mare-recover ka physically. Ito, ang investigation mo, you're tracing 'yung origin or culprit or the one who upload the video on cyberspace. Hindi sa real world," he said.

Chito Miranda laughs off 'son' claiming sex video leak

MANILA -- Parokya ni Edgar frontman Chito Miranda addressed a man claiming to be his "son" behind the spread of his controversial sex video with girlfriend Neri Naig. In a post on his band's official Facebook page, which has over 3.1 million followers, the 37-year-old singer made light of a rumor claiming that he already has a child. Hahaha!" Miranda said. The message, posted late Thursday, already has over 63,000 likes and over 700 shares on Facebook. Miranda was referring to a series of posts on the same social networking site made by a certain Alfonso Yanga Miranda, who referred to the singer as "Daddy" in an apparent open letter which is now making the rounds online. In the letter, "Alfonso" claimed he was behind the "robbery" of Miranda's room. Last week, the singer said he lost his computer hard drive, which stored his private video with Naig, in a theft. Alfonso said he is out to ruin his own "father," and even warned Miranda that he is no longer a child. The singer, however, seemed unfazed in his post addressing the claim. Miranda went on to say, "Buti nalang walang iwanan sa Parokya."

Chito Miranda defends Neri against bashers

MANILA – Parokya ni Edgar vocalist Chito Miranda came to the defense of his girlfriend, former “Star Circle Quest” finalist Neri Naig, after several netizens bashed her following the leak of their private video. In his personal Facebook account on Wednesday night, Miranda shared facets about his girlfriend that the public are not aware of. “This is my girlfriend, Neri. She's an actress. Though she is not as sikat as the others, she is happy and content. Not many people know this, but whenever she has time to spare, she'd go and visit her favorite aeta village along with her friends, and hang out with the aetas, simply because she enjoys it,” he wrote. Miranda added: “She'd collect and bring used, worn-out school books and read to the kids, trying to help them learn to read as well. She'd bring school supplies na binili sa divisoria, sit down with the kids, and teach them how to write their names. She'd bring snacks, and sometimes would even set up games for the kids in the community.” The Parokya ni Edgar frontman further noted that Naig was "never applauded" for this act of charity, "nor was she famous for it, and also had no major reasons for doing it.” After sharing what his girlfriend does during her spare time, the Parokya ni Edgar frontman then asked Naig’s bashers one question. “What do you do on your spare time aside from bashing helpless girls on the internet? Whatever it is, I honestly hope it makes you happy,” he said. Miranda said he does not mind what other people say about him but he does care about what they say about his girlfriend. “Me and my girlfriend are NOT saints obviously (me, being very far from it), but she is a good person and those who really know her, know that she is. And I love her very much,” he said. While appealing to bashers to stop saying bad things about them, Miranda also thanked those who supported them throughout this ordeal. “Sa lahat ng mga open-minded na tao na patuloy na nag pakita ng respeto at pagmamahal sa amin ni Neri, regardless of what we are going through, maraming maraming salamat po,” he said.

What would Taberna, Babao ask Chito Miranda

MANILA Philippines -- Broadcast journalist Anthony Taberna hopes to tackle the Chito Miranda-Neri Naig sex video scandal in his newest TV program "TNT: Tapatan Ni Tunying," which airs every Thursday. Taberna, who is known for his hard-hitting commentaries and interviews, said he has only one question for Miranda. "Bakit? Bakit mo ginawa 'yon? Bakit ka nag-video, bakit ka nag-record eh recording artist ka na," Taberna said in a press conference on Tuesday. Taberna admitted he watched the video just to find out if the footage is authentic. He also believes that Miranda and Naig were not the ones who released the video. Baka ngayon maging isang argument 'yan for the implementation of that law. Kasi may kakayahan ang gobyerno para ma-trace kung sino originally ang nag-upload niya," Taberna said. Meanwhile, broadcast journalist Julius Babao said he is open to help Miranda and Naig to get justice via his show "Bistado," which airs every Monday. "Kung lalapit sila sa amin, we can help them at pwede namin silang dalhin sa authorities para mapabilis ang pag-solve sa crime. Kasi hindi mabilis i-solve yon. Si Chito lang siguro ang makakaalam noon, kasi kapag sa bahay nangyari ang nakawan madaling malaman 'yon -- sino ang may access sa house. I'm sure by now alam niya kung sino 'yon. Ang lumalabas parang may motibo na ipahiya, ilabas sa public para pag-usapan o mapahiya," he said. On Monday, the camp of Miranda said they are considering filing raps against those who leaked and posted photos and a video of him and his girlfriend, in an intimate moment. According to Rommel Cajayon of Backbeat Management, which handles the career of Miranda, they are now consulting lawyers to identify the social networking sites that shared the sex video. Cajayon said Miranda is decided about pressing charges against the unnamed suspects. Miranda has yet to grant interviews about the scandal.
