Sunshine says Cesar needs inspiration

MANILA - Actress Sunshine Cruz finally bought her dream house after separating from her husband, actor Cesar Montano. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the actress said she has been working extra hard to buy new furniture and appliances for the house. "I just bought a house two days ago. Praise God nabili ko na, though kailangan tayo ay magtrabaho nang triple time. I know na hindi tayo papabayaan ng Diyos," said Cruz, who is a single mother to three daughters. Cruz also reacted to the issue that Montano has already found a new love. "Good for him, I am happy for him. Kasi kung anuman ang magpapasaya sa kanya, of course he needs an inspiration," she said. In a previous interview, Montano said he is ready to love again after his separation from Cruz. "Lagi pong bukas ang puso ko. Pangit pong sinasara ang puso, sapagkat narito po ang puso natin, dinesign ng Diyos 'yan para i-share ang ating pagmamahal," he said. He even laughed when asked for his reaction to Cruz's statement, supposedly saying she now prefers to be in a relationship with someone who is not "moreno" like Montano. "Masaya ako kung saan siya masaya," the actor said about Cruz moving on, possibly with a new man. "Masaya ako para sa kanya, sapagkat siya'y magulang ng aking mga anak." Cruz and Montano separated in January this year over his alleged affair with model-actress Krista Miller. In August, the couple's spat was taken to court, with Cruz accusing her husband of marital rape. This was denied by Montano, saying the incident in question was consensual. The actress also accused Montano of keeping her from seeing their three daughters who, according to the actor's camp, chose to stay with him following the couple's separation. Both camps

After Sunshine, Cesar ready to love again

MANILA -- "Lagi pong bukas ang puso ko." These were the 51-year-old actor's candid words on Thursday when asked if he is ready to love again after his controversial separation from actress Sunshine Cruz, his wife of 13 years. "Lagi pong bukas ang puso ko. Pangit pong sinasara ang puso, sapagkat narito po ang puso natin, dinesign ng Diyos 'yan para i-share ang ating pagmamahal," a smiling Montano told reporters. "Anuman ang makikita natin sa landasin natin, madilim man o maliwanag, malungkot man o hindi, dapat we're always willing to love," he said. The "Muro Ami" star laughed when asked for his reaction to Cruz's recent statement, supposedly saying she now prefers to be in a relationship with someone who is not "moreno" like Montano. "Masaya ako kung saan siya masaya," the actor said, of Cruz moving on possibly with a new man. "Masaya ako para sa kanya, sapagkat siya'y magulang ng aking mga anak." 'We need prayers' Cruz and Montano separated in January this year over his alleged affair with model-actress Krista Miller. Before the controversial breakup involving Miller, the celebrity couple, by Cruz's admission, went through several rough patches due to Montano's "questionable" relationships with his co-workers. In August, the couple's spat was taken to court, with Cruz accusing her husband of marital rape. This was denied by Montano, saying the incident in question was consensual. The actress also accused Montano of keeping her from seeing their three daughters, who, according to the actor's camp, chose to stay with him following the couple's separation. Both camps have since agreed to share custody of the children. Asked on his arrangement with Cruz concerning their kids, Montano on Thursday said, "Ayokong magbanggit patungkol diyan." "I'm not going to use this interview para ibaba ang tingin sa kanya, sapagkat siya po ay nanay parin ng aking mga anak. At hindi ko rin po gagamitin ang interview na 'to to praise myself at gamitin pa ang aking mga anak. Hindi ko po gagawin 'yon. "Basta you know that we have an issue and we need prayers.

Sunshine, Cesar agree on custody of kids

MANILA -- Estranged couple Cesar Montano and Sunshine Cruz have agreed to share custody of their three daughters Angeline Isabelle, Samantha Angeline and Angel Francheska. Lawyers of Montano and Cruz represented the couple in a hearing on Monday in Branch 78 of the Quezon City RTC regarding the permanent protection order (PPO) filed by Cruz. Cruz and Montano are both working and could not attend the hearing. Cruz is now busy taping for ABS-CBN's upcoming fantasy series "Galema," while Montano is also working on a new soap. The lawyers said they are all trying to reach a peaceful formula for the couple. Atty. Bonifacio Alentajan, the lawyer of Cruz, disclosed the agreement for the schedule of the children. Montano will have the three girls from Monday to Wednesday and Cruz will have them from Thursday to Sunday. The lawyers stressed that this is a court order and is being strictly followed by both parties. Alentajan who is also a godfather to Cruz and Montano, said he feels sad that the marriage has reached this point, adding that no one can say at this point if there is no chance to fix the marriage. -- Report from Marie Lozano, ABS-CBN News

Sunshine hits back at Cesar

MANILA -- Actress Sunshine Cruz maintained that she did not file a case against her husband, actor Cesar Montano, because of her "financial demands." Reacting to a statement released by Montano's lawyer, Atty. Joel Ferrer, Cruz stressed that she has been working hard in show business to provide for her children. The actress said she is tired of waiting for Montano's financial support. "Eh kailangan ko mag-work kasi ayaw ko namang mamilit sa isang tao, na pahirapan lagi kung magbigay sa mga bata," she told ABS-CBN News. "And I'm proud to be a working mom. I need to do this for my kids," she added. "But it doesn't mean na porket nagtatrabaho tayo eh pagkakaitan na tayo at hindi na ipapakita sa iyo ang mga anak mo kung kailan wala ka nang trabaho." Cruz, who currently stars in the ABS-CBN series "Dugong Buhay," said all she wants is to be with her children. "Kung may choice lang ako, talagang hindi ko gagawin ito. You all know how I protected Cesar because he is still the father of my children and I told everybody that he is a good father to my kids," she said. "I want to be with my kids, 'yun lang naman. Ngayon, kaka-text lang ng anak ko sa akin na, 'I miss you, Mommy. I love you. We want to go home.' Tapos noong pina-pickup ko sila sa bahay, ayaw naman [payagan]. "Hindi naman ako pusa na kinunan lang ng kuting, hindi naman tayo ganoon. It's just unfair na napagkakaitan ako ng oras to be with my kids." As she concentrates on saving money to buy a new house for her children, Cruz said she does not know if reconciliation with Montano is still a possibility. "Mahirap magsalita ng tapos. Only God knows," said the actress, who is now gearing for her new soap, "Galema." Cruz filed a complaint-affidavit before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court on Tuesday morning in an Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children case against her Montano. The actress claims Montano has committed -- and still continues to commit -- acts of violence and verbal abuse against her and her three daughters. She also claimed that the actor raped her last May. But Ferrer, Montano's lawyer, claimed that Cruz has been asking her husband to buy her a new house, which supposedly costs P11 million to P15 million, and a monthly financial support of P350,000. "Gumagawa-gawa ng kwento si Sunshine kasi hindi napagbigyan 'yung demands niya," the lawyer told ABS-CBN News.

Sunshine: Cesar raped me on Mother's Day

Celebrity couple Cesar Montano and Sunshine Cruz MANILA – Actress Sunshine Cruz filed a complaint-affidavit before the Quezon City Regional Trial Court on Tuesday morning in an Anti-Violence Against Women and their Children case against her husband, actor Cesar Montano. Among the claims the actress made was an alleged incident of rape last May. The “Dugong Buhay” star recalled that on Mother's Day, May 12, Montano allegedly "barged" into her residence, "where she was alone, and then violently attacked her, employed physical violence and raped" her. Cruz was accompanied by her legal counsel, Atty. Bonifacio Alentajan, in the filing of the case. The actress claims Montano has committed -- and still continues to commit -- acts of violence and verbal abuse against her and her three daughters. Cruz described Montano as "a very domineering, philandering husband that demanded full submission and obedience" from her. She also detailed a recent affair between her husband and starlet Krista Miller which, she said, had adverse effects on her daughters, who had read the text messages exchanged between Montano and Miller. Cruz said her daughter also witnessed her father receive a text photo of Miller in a bikini. In addition to these claims of abuse, Cruz said she has been denied access to her children since July 29, despite her efforts for them to be brought home. “Bilang tatay siya ng mga anak ko, as much as possible, we want to protect the person. But since the 29th, hindi ko na rin nakita ang mga anak ko. Hindi ko alam kung bakit ganun kaya I decided to do this already,” she said. Cruz said this was the trigger for her to file this case against her husband. “Kasi kapag nasa work naman ako, hinahayaan kong kunin niya ang mga bata. Pero hindi na niya sinauli, puro tomorrow, tomorrow. 'Yung tomorrow na 'yun tumagal na nang tumagal hanggang sa I realized na he’s not going to give back my kids,” she said. Cruz said she is willing to lose everything except her kids. “Napakahirap sa akin kasi I’ve been a devoted wife and a mom to my children. Sinakripisyo ko nga lahat para sa mga anak ko tapos parang pusa ka na lang na tinanggalan ng mga kuting. Masakit sa akin ang mga nangyayari,” she said. Cruz has been granted a temporary protection order by the QC RTC weeks ago, prohibiting Montano to come within 300 meters of her. A petition for a permanent protection order (PPO) is currently being heard at the QC RTC. A second hearing is scheduled on August 15. Last January, Cruz announced that she has decided to live apart from Montano, her husband of 13 years, for good. This after Montano was romantically linked to Miller, who recently appeared in a film with the 50-year-old actor. Before the controversial breakup involving Miller, the celebrity couple, by Cruz's admission, had gone through several rough patches due to Montano's questionable relationships with his co-workers. -- Report by Ginger Conejero, ABS-CBN News

Sunshine calls Cesar 'ex-husband'

MANILA -- Actress Sunshine Cruz now calls her actor Cesar Montano as her "ex-husband." In an exclusive interview with Rated K hosted by Korina Sanchez, Cruz stressed that although her marriage to Cesar has not yet been annulled, they are no longer living under one roof. "Kasi sa papel, kami pa din. Hindi pa naman kami annulled pero hiwalay na talaga kami ng bahay ni Buboy kaya, well, I could say na parang ex-husband ko na," Cruz said. Cruz said Montano also jokingly calls her his "ex-wife." However, she said reconciliation is still possible, but only God knows whether this will happen. "Well, he also calls me ex-wife, biruan namin. We are friends naman though talagang mayroon lang instances na nangyayari na sigurong mas mabuting ganito muna ang relationship namin. I couldn't say na makikipagbalikan ako sa kanya or hindi na, only God knows," she added. In a previous interview, Cruz said she has forgiven Montano, who is alleged to have had an affair with a young starlet. Cruz returned to showbiz via the hit afternoon series "Dugong Buhay" with Ejay Falcon.

Sunshine not open to reconciliation with Cesar

MANILA – They may be friends again, but actress Sunshine Cruz said she is not planning to get back with her husband Cesar Montano. This comes after Montano was linked to starlet Krista Miller, which led to the failure of their 12-year marriage. In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Sunday, Cruz said “reconciliation” is not in the cards at the moment. “Wala iyon sa bokabularyo ko sa ngayon. Pero ang dami ngang nagsasabi, ano ba may chance or wala? It’s hard to say yes may chance, it’s hard to say no wala ng chance. Only God knows talaga. Bahala na ang Diyos,” she said. However, she said she and Montano are in talking terms for the sake of their children. “We are friends. We are okay. We text especially when it’s about the children. Ganun talaga eh. Nangyayari ang ganoon, wala tayong magagawa,” she said. “In all fairness to Buboy, kapag may taping ako, 'yung mga bata sa kanya natulog. Basta kapag may work ako, nasa kanya ang kids. Hinahayaan ko. Si Buboy naman mapagmahal iyan and very generous sa mga kids. I have no right na ilayo ang mga ank ko sa kanya kasi mapagmahal siyang ama,” she added. While saying that “separation is not always happy,” Cruz said the experience made her a stronger person. “For me it’s better this way kasi I really got tired. Medyo napagod ang puso natin maghintay ng pagbabago or ng miracle. The miracle naman, I got it kasi right now ako ang mas tumibay na,” she said. “Whatever it is with regards to Buboy, it’s none of my business anymore. So whatever makes him happy, I’m happy for him. I just hope na whatever makes me happy, maging masaya din siya for me,” she added. Cruz said she just chooses not to dwell on negative things and just focus on her work and children. Same cover with Krista? Meanwhile, Cruz refused to comment on Miller’s new magazine cover allegedly with the blurb “Another Ray of Sunshine.” “Ay let’s not talk about people that are not involved,” she said. Asked if she gets offended by people when they copy her, Cruz said: “Sa mga gay pageants, marami diyan Sunshine Cruz. For me it’s flattering basta makapal ang nguso, makapal ang bibig at nakapulang lipstick na Sunshine Cruz. Bongga iyon for me.” After Cruz posed for men's magazine FHM, Miller will be appearing in the May issue of men’s magazine Red.

Krista Miller wants to talk to Sunshine

MANILA – Starlet Krista Miller said she wants to talk to actress Sunshine Cruz to clear her name and to clarify her involvement with actor Cesar Montano. Cruz confirmed that she has left the house she shared for years with husband Montano, after the actor’s alleged affair with Miller. In an interview with entertainment website Pep.ph, Miller said she and Cruz never had the chance to talk and that she would be more than willing to sit down with her. Reiterating that she never had any romantic relationship with Montano, Miller said she is totally clueless as to how and why she has been tagged as the third party in the marriage of the celebrity couple. “Sa set kasi nagkakaroon ng mga biruan pero never ko naman na-feel na gusto niya ako, hindi niya ako niligawan. Ewan ko kung bakit nagkaroon ng ganung issue... Bakit naman ako sisira ng pamilya, siyempre ako may pamilya rin ako,” she said. But amid the intrigues, Miller said she’d rather focus on her career and ignore her critics. “Talagang dedma na lang ako. Ang daming haters sa mga social networking sites pero ako dedma lang ako. Focused talaga ako sa work ko. Kasi kapag inisip mo, parang binibigyan mo lang ng problema ang sarili mo eh,” she said.

Cesar takes Filipino bio flicks to new level

MANILA, Philippines - If you think Alfredo Lim: The Untold Story is just another gratuitous political bio flick, think again. Cesar Montano, one of the country’s most gifted filmmakers, directs and acts in the most recent adaptation of the life story of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim. The big-budgeted flick boasts of a host of talented actors in Philippine cinema today, including Alessandra de Rossi, Nonie Buencamino, Tirso Cruz III, Marc Abaya, Spanky Manikan, Gina Pareño and Gloria Romero. Cesar Montano with Manila City Mayor Alfredo Lim Before he ever became a public figure, Fred Lim led a colorful, if difficult life — abandoned by his mother as a toddler, raised in an orphanage and reunited with his grandparents some years later. He was a shy but hardworking student. Lim finished accountancy and later became a lawyer in 1963, and served a decorated career as a Manila police officer long before he ever became a public figure. The film chronicles those early years, and more — carefully selected scenes from those years far from the public radar, but brimming with drama, action and life. “Oftentimes, when they make this kind of movie, the director and scriptwriter would cook up scenes to make the action portions more exciting,” says Montano. “But not in this case. If we included everything about Mayor Lim, we could do an endless teleserye. His life story is very colorful.” The film is more than just an action movie, and neither it is textbook melodrama. It is an exposition and examination of a complex man, weathering challenges both internal and external and emerging victorious — a showcase of Filipino craftsmanship that is world-class.

Montano and the rest of the team behind Lim are eyeing screenings in several international film festivals. Abroad, the film will carry the title Turning Cradle referring to the basket-like structure found at the gates of orphanages where mothers, too ashamed to show their faces, would abandon their babies — the cradle where Lim’s own mother left him at the tender age of two. Alfredo Lim: The Untold Story is now showing in theaters nationwide.
